Chapter 387: The Duel of the Two Bees
BOOM!!!! —
The two insects collided with a force that sent a visible shockwave through the
room. They locked lances, straining against each other, neither willing to yield
a single inch.
After a brief, agonizing stalemate, both Pokémon were simultaneously repelled.
Kenji's Beedrill skidded back about a meter.
In contrast, Matsuma's Beedrill was launched backward, sliding across the floor
for nearly fifteen meters before finally arresting its momentum.
The result of the first trade was clear: Kenji's Ace held the advantage in raw
physical power.
Matsuma raised an eyebrow, studying Kenji's partner with a renewed sense of
calculation.
He knew exactly how strong his own Beedrill was. It was his starter, the Pokémon
that had walked with him from his days as a novice to becoming the architect of
the world's most powerful shadow organization. It had been nurtured by his
unique abilities for decades. Its raw strength was legendary—on par with the
Master-rank Blaziken of the Huaxia Champion.
Yet, in a direct contest of force, it had been overpowered.
While both trainers had focused on the peak of Attack and Speed, there were
subtle differences in their philosophies. Matsuma's Beedrill leaned more toward
pure, bone-crushing power.
If it had lost the strength contest, it meant Kenji's partner was truly on
another level entirely. And speed? With the "Super Speed" state Kenji had
mastered, his bee effectively made Matsuma's look like it was moving in slow
motion.
Matsuma let out a slow, measured breath. He slowly raised his arms.
Kenji noticed the cufflinks on his sleeves. Each one was set with a polished
stone. They weren't jewels; they were specialized Mega Stones.
But unlike standard Mega Stones, these had a sickly, dark luster.
"Beedrill!! Mega Evolve!!"
Matsuma pressed the button on his opposite cuff. With a sharp crackle of energy,
the stone erupted with a brilliance that made Kenji's skin crawl.
It wasn't the prismatic rainbow of a standard evolution. The light pouring from
Matsuma's hand was black.
"SIII!!!! —"
On the field, Matsuma's Beedrill let out a shriek as it was engulfed in a column
of obsidian light.
Kenji frowned, his hand tightening on his own bracelet. Black light? What the
hell did Team Rocket do to that stone?
Moments later, the shadow shattered. Matsuma's Mega Beedrill stood revealed.
Anatomically, it was identical to a standard Mega Beedrill. But its coloration
was a nightmare. Its body was a pitch-black so deep it seemed to absorb the
room's floodlights. The yellow stripes of its base form had turned a bruised,
bloody crimson. It radiated an aura of pure malevolence that felt heavy against
Kenji's chest.
Kenji sucked in a breath.
Dark Mega Evolution... It was clear this stone was a product of R-Organization's
experiments—an artificial variant designed to maximize destruction.
"Kenji... be careful."
Behind him, Darkrai spoke telepathically, its voice uncharacteristically solemn.
"This insect... I feel the scent of a God within it."
A God?
Kenji's mind raced. He knew the lore—Legendaries could sense each other.
"Yes," Darkrai confirmed. "The energy inside it is familiar. It is ancient,
cold, and carries the weight of a true Master-rank Legendary. A God of
Destruction."
Kenji's brain went into overdrive. He thought of the origins of Mega
Evolution—the "Ultimate Weapon" of ancient times that had harnessed the energy
of life and death. He thought of the legendary guardians of the Kalos region.
Yveltal!!!
The legendary God of Death and Destruction. The "Y-Deity" of the XYZ legends.
If Team Rocket had somehow managed to harvest Yveltal's DNA or energy and infuse
it into an artificial Mega Stone, the power output of this Beedrill would be
catastrophic.
Kenji didn't waste another second. He raised his own arm, triggering the Key
Stone on his bracelet.
"Let's show them what a real legend looks like! Beedrill! MEGA EVOLVE!!!"
In a flash of prismatic light, Kenji's Mega Beedrill stood in its golden
splendor.
The two master insects faced each other: one golden and radiant, the other black
and cursed. The sheer pressure radiating from their forms caused the very air in
the room to hum with static electricity.
Kenji looked at the arena floor. He had a sudden, terrifying doubt. Can this
place even contain two Master-rank deities going all out?
