Chapter 166 - Chapter 167: Shocking the Mother-in-Law of  Entertainment

Just as Yuffie was about to respond, a voice came from the doorway.

"What's for lunch? Wow, why's the food so fancy today?"

It was Yuffie mom.

She'd stepped out earlier that morning to run some errands and had just arrived at the film set to join her daughter.

The crew was already familiar with her, and a makeup artist chatted with her. "Your daughter's boyfriend came to visit the set. This is the custom takeout he brought.

Each meal's worth 599 yuan, and he even gave everyone a 2,000-yuan shopping card. Talk about generous!"

What?

Sisi's boyfriend was visiting?

Just last night, Yuffie had mentioned this boyfriend for the first time.

She'd said he was a classmate from New York and would visit the set today, but Yuffie mom hadn't taken it too seriously, assuming it was just talk.

After all, if he was a classmate, he'd likely just be a student, right? Showing up at a film set without being shy would already be impressive. But pulling off something this extravagant?

Yuffie mom scanned the crowd and immediately spotted the tall, striking Luke.

He stood out like a crane among chickens—hard to miss.

Lowering her voice, she asked the makeup artist with a hint of confusion, "That's the tall, handsome guy, right? Why does he look so familiar?"

The makeup artist blinked in surprise. You don't know your daughter's boyfriend?

Weren't you always keeping a tight watch on her?

How could anyone get close to your precious daughter without your approval?

But then it clicked—Yuffie mom genuinely didn't know. Otherwise, why would she quietly support Young Master Fei's pursuit of her daughter?

With Luke's credentials, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better son-in-law worldwide.

If she knew, there's no way she'd let him slip through her fingers.

So the makeup artist explained, "Yeah, that's him. He's Luke, the rising -American movie star. Heard of him? He starred in Hero and Pirates of the Caribbean."

At that, Yuffie mom instantly remembered who Luke was.

She'd often marveled at how, while her daughter was just starting her acting career, Luke was already shooting into the stratosphere.

She knew how tough it was for a Foreigner actor to make it in Hollywood, which was why she'd encouraged her daughter to start her career back in China.

Who would've thought this skyrocketing superstar was her daughter's boyfriend?

In New York's community, Luke was a household name. Yuffie mom heard his name tossed around in conversations with friends and family daily.

They gushed about his looks, his success, his wealth at such a young age, and how lucky any girl would be to marry him.

No wonder her daughter had zero interest in Feiyang. That guy was just a spoiled rich kid riding his parents' coattails, while Luke was a self-made trailblazer. They weren't even in the same league.

Yuffie mom couldn't help but admire her daughter's taste.

Seeing her mom, Yuffie seized the moment and pulled Luke forward.

"Mom, this is the boyfriend I told you about last night—Luke," she introduced.

Luke gave a subtle smile. He'd overheard every word of their conversation last night from under the table.

Catching the meaning behind his grin, Yuffie gave his hand a light pinch, signaling him not to push it.

Luke wasn't about to mess this up—it was his first meeting with Yuffie mom, after all.

"Hi, Aunt . The moment I saw you, I knew where Sisi got her beauty from," he said smoothly.

Yuffie mom, Yuffie Mom, was a former dancer with a figure and face that needed no introduction. No wonder netizens in the future would rave that Sisi's mom was the real stunner.

In her early forties, her beauty hadn't faded with age. Instead, she exuded a mature, captivating charm unique to her years.

The kind of charm that made young guys shout:

"Auntie, I don't want to work anymore!"

"Auntie, I'm the one for you!"

That kind of mature beauty.

"I'll just call you Luke, if that's okay?" Yuffie Mom said with a smile. "It's my first time meeting you, but your name's been ringing in my ears forever.

I'd heard you were impressive, but seeing you in person—you're even more remarkable."

Her words put Luke at ease.

It's not just what someone says—it's the intention behind it.

Yuffie mom was clearly warm and approving, and that was enough.

Luke wasn't surprised by her reaction.

With his qualities, what mother-in-law would push him away?

Thanks to his legendary [Life as a Stage] talent, even if he were a total slacker, most people would still find him likable.

And with his top-tier character, talent, looks, and career? He was the full package.

"Thanks for the kind words, Aunt . I should've visited you sooner, but work's kept me so busy. Please don't hold it against me," he said, hitting the right note of politeness.

"Hold it against you? Not at all! Young people should focus on their careers. You're doing so well—your schedule must be packed. I'm just happy you made it," Yuffie Mom replied, growing fonder of him by the second.

He's so tall, so handsome—this is what "dashing" looks like.

Looks like that could make countless girls swoon, yet he's no empty pretty boy. The recent headlines about him had left Yuffie Mom stunned.

The more she looked at him, the more she liked him. Smiling, she asked, "Luke , how long are you in Jinling? Where are you staying? If it's inconvenient, you're welcome to stay at our place—we've got plenty of room."

Luke smiled and nodded in thanks. "I've got a hotel booked, and I'm actually leaving tomorrow. Next time, I'll definitely take you up on that, Auntie."

"You're leaving tomorrow?" Yuffie asked, surprised.

She hadn't known his schedule and had secretly hoped this visit might lead to something more.

"Yeah," Luke replied. "Last night, Mr. Eisen called me with an urgent task."

Yuffie nodded. She'd met Eisen before, during that first meeting at a coffee shop in Douglaston. She'd been there, watching their conversation.

"If you've got important business, go take care of it. But next time, you're coming over for a home-cooked meal," Yuffie Mom said warmly.

"Absolutely, I'll visit for sure," Luke promised.

Then he turned to Director Li Dawei nearby. "Director, is there a private room we could use for a quick talk? I've got something important to discuss with Sisi and Auntie."

"The room to the left is free. Feel free to use it," the director replied enthusiastically.

"Auntie, Yuffie, let's step over there to talk about something important," Luke said.
