Walking across a huge plain Ian looked up ag Arrow. As they walked Ian sent him up to scout ahead for anything interesting. Dungeons spawn randomly in wild areas so who knows, they could stumble across one.
"Dire wolves should start popping up soon now that we're far enough from the city."
Ty looked around and pulled out his great sword. The large blade looked quite imposing, its metal completely black.
"That is a sick sword dude! Can I touch it?"
Ian reached his hand over to hold the sword.
"Nah man. You're too weak to use this buddy."
Ty had a look of superiority on his face, looking down on the half elf.
As they bantered Jasmine pointed out.
"Hey guys, we have company."
From across the plain, four large dire wolves was coming. They snarled and growled as they ran full speed at the trio.
Seeing this Ian quickly drew his bow and activated his skills. His vision suddenly zoomed in and he saw a target on the wolves heads. Ian nocked an arrow and began to charge it with mana.
After a few seconds a green streak shot out. It reached its target in a heartbeat and pierced through the leading wolf's head.
"Nice!"
Notifications started popping up as the wolf fell but Ian ignored them.
Vines burst from the ground as Jasmine finished her spell. Under her feet shone a magic circle.
The vines reached toward the remaining dire wolves who were disoriented after loosing their leader. Vines began to entangle their feet and dragged them downwards preventing the wolves from running.
Ian taking advantage of the situation shot another arrow. This one, weaker than the first, only pierced its eye but Arrow swooped down and pierced through its neck finishing it off.
"Don't leave me out!"
With that shout Ty, a huge orc, ran toward the entangled wolves and jumped into the air. He held his sword high and swung it as he came down
Landing on the opposite side of the wolves he sheathed his sword. The remaining wolves heads then suddenly fell off. Ty had decapitated both of them in one swing.
Ian and Jasmine clapped in awe.
"That was cool man! You did the whole cutting after sheathing the sword thing!"
Ty bashfully scratched the back of his head with a smile.
"Thanks! You know I've always wanted to do that. You were cool too! Especially that vine thing, magic is crazy!"
"That was nothing! I just binded them, you guys did the cool parts."
"We're all cool. Come on let's loot them then leave."
Ian moved to skin and process the wolves finishing pretty quick because his skill leveled up while doing it. After getting all the useful material the three of them kept moving.
This pattern repeated 2 more times before they took a break in a safer area.
Ian set the loot down and sat under a tree with a sigh.
"We really beed a porter or something. Carrying all this is annoying, why can't there have been an inventory in this game?!"
"They say it's for realism, but you can get inventory later. Spatial artifacts do extist. They are just hard to find."
Jasmine sat next to him and smiled at his struggle.
"Do you think my suffering is fun? This sucks man."
"A little but it's mostly cause you're working hard that's all."
Ty, who carried most of the loot they got, came over and pointed at a mountain on the horizon.
"There is a good dungeon over there. It's basically a volcano. I haven't made it far into it any time I try. That's why I settled in Canopy City for a little."
"You got the itch huh?"
Ian gave him a look.
"Yeah, I gotta beat that dungeon. There's no way I won't clear it."
Ty had the face of a warrior determined to slay a dragon. A menacing smile and a hardened look that could crush a mountain.
"Then let's do it! When we catch up to you we'll make a trip up that mountain."
Jasmine stood up and stuck out her fist.
Both Ian and Ty put their fists in the middle.
"Agreed. Now let's get to leveling."
That said they did enjoy a break for fifteen minutes before actually heading out to hunt.
Arrow zipped through the red sky. The day would end any second now and more monsters will awake. Ian sent the hawk to scout out their surroundings.
On the path below Ian was looking up at the bird looking for any warnings. After a few seconds Arrow began circling around in an area ahead of them.
"Get ready guys. There are monsters over there, let's go."
Ty drew his sword with a smile.
"Finally! This was honestly getting a bit boring."
"Are we bad company?"
Jasmine asked as she also readied her spells.
"Not at all. His dumbass just gets bored easy if he's not fighting."
Ian commented from the side as he turned to walk away.
"Ha ha, funny man"
Ty sarcastically while following.
As they got on their way Arrow led them to a forested area of the plains. Walking under the canopy Ian began to focus his senses.
This situation was feeling exactly like Ron's test. He felt like he was in something's territory. His eyes focused on what Arrow was circling.
A rock formation stood there. It was around 15-20 feet tall and had 4 caves littering it's outside. They weren't very deep and each was on a different level of the rocks.
Ian led the party closer to the rocks.
"Alright stop here. I'm gonna climb a tree to get a better look at the caves. We'll decide what to do after."
Ty and Jasmine nodded and watched as Ian nimbly got up a large trunk.
Standing on a branch while making sure to hide Ian activated his [Hawk Eyes]. His vision zoomed in on the caves. There he saw a huge pack of dire wolves. A group much larger than the ones they had encountered until now. In the top and largest cave sata dire wolf much larger that the rest. It was fully white and had multiple scars on its body.
"Oh shit"
