Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Speed of Sound

Vanitas was far more dangerous than I'd originally thought. I thought, raising both my arms ahead, using [Whisker paws] as I crashed into the wall right outside his cell, avoiding becoming a bloody, meat paste, barely.

All my bones shivered, ninety percent of my skin replaced with dripping blood, and revealing horrifyingly red muscles, eyeballs without temples. I looked like an anatomical Model.

My skin was torn by the speed at which I moved.

"Luci? Don't go all out just now, first use only ten percent." Alya muttered in concern, not one bit freaked out by my new look.

My skin recovered almost too fast as I touched my face again. I guess skin is easier to regenerate than deep injuries?

Alya was balancing way better than I, timing pauses milliseconds before a turn, but she was lying right beside me, on her knees, panting hard.

Wasn't she using just ten percent?

Vanitas… That guy, with just one touch, increased our speed by eighteen times… He called this just a buff that could come in handy.

Just my foot!

This thing was the definition of overpowered.

I thought he was like a support class; he couldn't be that strong.

But oh, how wrong I was.

But this speed… It was 1235 km/h in his own words. So divided by eighteen, it turns out my maximum sprinting speed was 68 something km/hr. Pretty awesome, right?

But, no! Now, we could move at the speed of fucking sound! With just one touch… For thirty minutes no less!

I felt a deep chill down my spine, imagining a Vanitas with strength and agility both buffed, with his godly, unlimited heals cheat.

Eighteen times wasn't even his buff limit from the looks of it. And surely, he didn't show me all his cards.

Is this world roaming with monsters like this, outside…?

I almost felt like going back to my cell, and be sold as a slave to that lady Acier.

Listening to Alya's advice, I balanced the speed my own way, unable to time pauses like Alya; by removing blood from those parts.

The existence of blood in parts made them tougher and stronger; the more the better, so opposite was also true. I only left enough blood to perform the most basic of movements in my legs, pushing the extra blood in my upper body.

Naturally, the speed of Vanitas's buff was lowered, and the output could be controlled like this.

Fortunately, with the help of [whisker paws], I could pump it a little bit more than I could handle, and confidently move at twenty percent of the speed of sound while managing balance here and there through walls, at turns with [Whisker paws].

Alya didn't stay behind either. She stood back up, somehow now able to move at thirty percent of the speed of sound.

She observed what I did with a curious gaze, getting by my side.

"That's smart, Luci!" She said, tapping my back in praise.

"Hm…" I could only nod. How can she move like this? From the looks of it, she wasn't doing what I did.

I thought, wobbling forward, only to be caught in Alya's arms, my face in Alya's deep, soft, and comfy cleavage.

I couldn't help but ask, "How can you control it so well?" While still snuggled on her big breasts. She herself wasn't able to handle that timing. Maybe I could also move faster with her secret.

"Hehe, I can prompt the action ahead of time." She said simply, giggling, something really complex, while rubbing my head.

I wasn't able to. No matter how many times I smashed into the walls and wasted time.

So in a disoriented sprint with wobbly legs, I barely maintained with Alya, and after just a minute of leaving, we reached the nearest cell in the east.

Vanitas went west.

"...He already released four slaves," Alya said with a shaky breath, blue and purple veins covering the entirety of her forehead, and skin behind her long ears. She was, I guessed, using her version of [Eye of Sanguine].

I tried to check on him too, but… all I saw was darkness. He went too far, out of my range.

"We should split up, no?" I nudged Alya on her waist with a thoughtful look, scratching my chin. We will be left behind if Vanitas did all the work himself.

The plan was still the same, just modified. We release everyone, and then meet up, I disguise everyone in the outfits of the would-be panicked guards, then somehow escape from the main gate.

If we just get out of the dungeons, to the upper floor, escaping would be simple. Yes, Mari Swan made their organization bases over conquered dungeons.

This world has dungeons, too, if that was a surprise to anyone.

There, from Vanitas's reliable sources, many things, such as auctions, VIP customers, slave exhibitions, are going on. Blending in would be easy.

Though Acier's alarm might have changed the situation a bit, maybe more chaos? But, chaos good.

Cause they surely can't manage everyone in this place, and seal the surrounding area that fast. If we hurry, doable.

Alya nodded hesitantly. She understood the situation very well too after all.

"But. We can't get too far from each other. Maybe by two cells. We should be able to see each other clearly." She said in a matter-of-fact tone, gripping my hand tight.

"Yes, ma'am." I shrugged.

She was right. I was the weakest in the group besides the hidden, maybe double-edged nuke I got from the newbie giftpack.

I shoved my nail through the cell door, opening it with a loud click.

The man inside was a…

Dog?

No. He was like those anime dog people.

With golden fur, and golden retreiwer like brown eyes. His bones embraced by gorilla like muscles, much bigger than both mine and Vanitas's combined. But, fortunately for my ego, he was weak in the height department. He was like five foot three.
