Dahlia's POV
Soren's voice cut through the evening air with unmistakable authority. "I'm taking you home." His eyes fixed on me, brooking no argument.
I met his gaze with deliberate amusement, letting a slow smile play across my lips. "Shouldn't you be with Diana instead?"
His presence here meant their little gathering was still in full swing. Diana rarely got these opportunities to venture out, so naturally she'd want to savor every moment of freedom.
Before Soren could respond, his phone buzzed insistently.
I seized my chance, slipping my hand free from his grip. The corners of my mouth curved upward as I watched him with silent satisfaction.
He paused, clearly torn, then retrieved his phone. One glance at the screen and he turned his back to me, stepping away as if my ears weren't worthy of whatever conversation was about to unfold.
