Dahlia's POV
Lorena's fingers dug into my hand, her grip so tight I could feel her pulse racing against my wrist. The shock hadn't left her face, and I could see she was still processing what we'd witnessed.
"I never imagined Madge could be so violent," she whispered, her voice barely audible above the coffee shop's ambient noise. "She always seemed so polished, so controlled."
Watching Lorena's confusion, I felt a pang of sympathy for her sheltered existence. She'd been blessed with a protective mother and a brother like Dorian who never competed for anything. Without those shields, Lorena wouldn't have made it this far in one piece.
Yet there was something I couldn't wrap my head around. Lorena had such a generous heart, but when it came to her own brother Dorian, she showed no mercy whatsoever.
Home-wreckers earned every bit of hatred thrown their way. But not every woman realized the man pursuing her already belonged to someone else.
