Chapter 4 - 4 Entrance Ceremony 3

The flow of calamity distinguishes no one.

———

The blurred world began clearing up as the fog-like illusion began revealing the scenery.

I blinked—and suddenly, I was watching myself from the corner of the room.

A small ray of light slipped through the fluttering curtain, landing on 'my' face as 'my' eyelids trembled open.

"Mochizuki-kun is kind of a bit creepy…"

Sitting at his desk with his face buried in his arms was 'me'.

Around him, classmates whispered.

Maybe they thought 'I' was still asleep—they spoke in small, but very audible voices.

"You think so too? I'm glad I wasn't the only one…"

"I know, right. Like, he's too desperate…"

"He even remembers the small talk we had weeks ago."

"Urgh, it's so creepy…"

"Right, right? I just gave him a random friend chocolate on Valentine's, but he misunderstood and gave me white chocolate back. I was so creeped out, I threw it away the moment I got home."

"Really? That's disgusting. I'll talk with him later."

"Thank you, you're so reliable OO-kun…"

This memory… Oh, it must be my glorious Middle School debut.

I pondered, then walked toward the desk 'I' was pretending to sleep by, crouching to see 'my' own face.

Wide eyes, trembling pupils.

He had no idea people thought of him like that—

"I seriously wish he'd stop coming to school…"

And just like that, he broke.

Hmm… must be .Totally different from how it felt in the game.

Devil's Whisper—an exclusive demon spell that drags up your deepest trauma, leaving you stunned.

Although it took some preparation to cast, it was unavoidable, and you could only rely on your magic and mental resistance.

What puzzles me is…

That's weird… when was the last time I gave a fuck about this memory?

And just like that—with a snap of my fingers—the illusion shattered like a glass, returning me to the previous scenery.

The single-horned demon was walking toward us, while the other two froze. So they couldn't completely block the .

The demon smirked at this sight—his eyes greedily lingering on Alicia Solenne.

He probably thought that today was an easy hunt.

But he was wrong.

*Splatt*

By the time his brain registered the wet, piercing sound, the blade had already sunk into his eye.

In my hand was the shortsword I'd stolen earlier. Demon's blood and other unknown fluids splattered over my wrist as I pulled it free.

He'd let his guard down. We must've looked like ants to him.

"Argh! How dare you—" The demon clutched his wound and swung his arm.

I failed to react to the simple sweep as it sent me flying, blood splattering midair.

"Haaafff…" I gasped, vomiting a mix of drool and blood as I struggled for air.

"Y-you said you didn't have anything on you…" The demon's voice trembled with rage as blood poured down his ruined socket.

Veins bulged across his forehead. Pride wounded deeper than flesh.

For it to be tricked by a mere human… unthinkable!!

Which idiot reveals their card to enemies? I'm not some manga character.

"Se-Senpai…!"

Finally freeing herself from the illusion, Irysis called out and healed me.

Only then did I finally catch a breath.

"Thanks, now match with me," wiping my face, I ran to the demon.

Despite how painful it was, if I lost this opportunity, the horned demon would regain his composure and soon regenerate his sight.

"Y-yes!"

I sprinted left while channeling .

To my right, Irysis mirrored me.

Behind us, albeit a bit late, Alicia clasped her hands, her magic surging through our veins—strength and agility up.

Mana up if my magic circuits weren't broken.

"D-don't come any closer!!" Still cautious of the shortsword in my hand, the demon shot magic blasts toward us to keep a distance.

Dodging it with the help of my Sixth Sense, I threw the shortsword in my hand at his head.

*Swoosh*

It hit empty air, and the demon smirked.

Although he didn't need to avoid it, the demon dodged it out of spite and even felt prideful as the shortsword brushed past his cheek.

"Alicia. Ward." I called out to her, then disappeared—finally unleashing the Unique Skill I was channeling.

Along with the sensation of the space-time warping, I popped behind the demon, catching the thrown shortsword.

At the same time, a red thorn of spikes appeared on the demon's back, targeting me. A trap demon was prepared upon hearing my ability.

However, I was a step ahead as a magic circle formed in front of me—the same Alicia deployed for me, blocking the red spike.

Embracing the demon's neck with my other hand, I attempted to stab the other eye with the hand holding the shortsword, but was stopped by the demon's hand.

Deep pain shot up my arm as his claws dug in, crackling bone.

I loosened my grip just enough for the sword to slip free—or so he thought.

In truth, I'd already thrown it toward Irysis.

Alicia, who had a clear view of everything that was occurring, inwardly nodded at my plan as she cast a spell.

Multiple vines coiled around the demon's limbs, holding him in place.

Normally, it wouldn't have landed. But now—

The demon was too focused on me.

By the time he realized it, it was too late.

Even his resistance bought us some time.

Enough time for Irysis to act.

Irysis caught the shortsword thrown by me and stabbed the demon's other eye.

Unable to do anything, the horned demon could only look as the shortsword took away his remaining vision.

"Alright, job's over. Alicia disrupts the mana flow and disperses," I didn't even check the demon's condition before blinking away from his grasp.

Just in case something unfortunate occurs in the remaining time before the headmaster returns, I advised the two to run away as far as possible.

And I was about to do the same.

That is until…

"Hyak!" Irysis let out a sound, and for the second time of the day, she fell.

With his sight stolen, the demon's hearing was as sensitive as ever—and he wouldn't let go of the source of this sound.

That's fucking bullshit!! Irritated at the sudden change of situation, I ran to Irysis with everything. I just need to be faster than the demon…!

Ah… I'm glad I caught up…

With trembling fingers, I stood before Irysis.

*Plup*

My body rose. Gravity vanished. The demon's claws gripped my uniform as we soared.

In the blink of an eye, I was high above the sky, grasped by the demon.

"How dare you, human, play tricks with me… I will make you regret of livi-"

Just as the demon was basking in happiness, thinking of thousands of ways to make my life a living misery, a deep sound echoed from below.

Deep down, in the land, a portal had opened.

A petite figure appeared, yet in contrast to her cute appearance, a heavy aura attacked the nearby demons within 500km.

Mana suppression. The sheer existence of the person who exited the portal ceased all activity.

Demons cried in fear, and students regained light in their eyes.

The headmaster had returned.

"Damned! How could I be so unfortunate! You cursed human… You give me no choice! If it's come to this…"

Up in the sky, the demon cursed his luck, shouting in frustration.

I played with his pride, tricked the all-famous demon who is known for being sly twice, just as he got his opportunity to regain his pride, the headmaster came back.

"I will take you with me!!" The demon's body glowed red.

Sensing this, the headmaster sweated and attempted a casting spell, but it was too late.

Shit, I may di-…
