Cherreads

Chapter 40 - Chapter 40 Sweets are more delicious when shared

In the afternoon, at a dessert shop, Kanna, Popukar, Amiya, and Rosmontis sat around a small table with a large cake on it.

This time, knowing there would be a very fragile child, Blue Poison, as the pastry chef, did not display her usual "color art." Instead, based on Kanna's very "exquisite" abstract painting and her description, she made a very cute Maneki-neko cake.

While Blue Poison was making the cake, Kanna remembered her promise to treat the Feline to dessert, but she wasn't sure if the Feline's current condition was suitable. So, she took Popukar by the hand and ran to the Medical Department to ask Kal'tsit.

She happened to meet Amiya there and asked her to come along.

Kal'tsit sighed inwardly when she saw Amiya's cautious yet longing expression upon hearing about dessert. She wondered if she had put too much pressure on Amiya, then gave Amiya the afternoon off, telling her to have a good time with Kanna and the others.

As for the Feline, considering there weren't many on Rhodes Island who could subdue her without harming her or those around her, and Kanna and Amiya happened to be two of them, and from the physical condition collected during her sleep, the Feline's body was a bit weak, mostly due to mental stress and malnutrition during this period. Eating a little dessert wouldn't affect her condition, and might even improve it, so Kanna's request was granted.

When the three arrived at the Feline's living quarters, she was sitting there quietly.

Upon seeing Kanna and Amiya, she uncharacteristically smiled.

Kanna then introduced Popukar to her, and as children who weren't much older, they quickly became friends.

Led by Kanna, the group finally arrived at the dessert shop. At this point, Blue Poison, who had prepared early, pushed a large cake in front of the four.

Smelling the rich aroma of wheat and sweetness emanating from the cake, everyone couldn't help but swallow.

Amiya had heard of Blue Poison's baking skills before but had never tasted them. Now that it was in front of her, she realized that even before taking a bite, just smelling the aroma made her feel incredibly happy.

With Blue Poison's help, the cake was portioned and placed on plates in front of each person.

She sat opposite them, a sweet smile gracing her lips as she watched the four happily eating their dessert.

"Um, does the little Feline have a name?" Blue Poison asked curiously after seeing them finish most of their food.

Upon hearing her words, the Feline's happy smile dimmed.

"I'm sorry, I... I can't remember..."

Seeing her growing sadness, Blue Poison immediately realized she had said the wrong thing.

Just as she was racking her brain for what to do, Kanna reached out and gently wiped the cream from the Feline's lips, then put her finger in her mouth and licked it clean.

"Didn't they say you could choose a codename after coming to Rhodes Island? If you've forgotten your old name, then forget it. Since you have a new life, why don't we choose a new name? I remember there's a flower whose language means 'wiping away the sorrows of memory.' In ancient myths, that magical plant could make those unable to face their memories eventually become brave. I think this flower suits you perfectly. How about you're called 'Rosmontis' from now on?"

After hearing Kanna's words, the Feline paused, then smiled brightly and extended her small hand, "Hello everyone, my name is Rosmontis, and I hope to be your friend."

Kanna and the others all took her hand, "Hello Rosmontis, from now on, we are good friends."

Still a little uneasy, Kal'tsit, who had been quietly standing outside, leaned against the glass door. She knew much more about this Feline than others, and seeing the happiness in her smile, she couldn't help but curve her lips into a faint smile. "Rosmontis, huh? A good name."

After finishing dessert, the group had just stepped out when they saw Kal'tsit standing not far away, arms crossed.

Upon seeing Kal'tsit, Amiya instantly snapped out of her relaxed state and, with a hint of nervousness, walked up to Kal'tsit and softly asked, "Doctor Kal'tsit?"

"Just passing by."

She then walked over to the Feline. "Hmm... Rosmontis, right? Your physical condition isn't too good, don't play too wildly with them."

"And Kanna, if I'm not mistaken, you and Popukar both have check-ups tonight. Don't forget."

With that, she turned and walked into the alleyway.

"Wow! Big Demon King, nah nah nah ~" It wasn't until Kal'tsit disappeared around the corner that the group involuntarily let out a sigh of relief. Kanna made a funny face at the empty corridor.

It was terrifying. Kanna had a feeling of returning to her school days, like when a few classmates were playing around and suddenly ran into their homeroom teacher.

"Don't, don't say that. Doctor Kal'tsit is actually a very good person, it's just that her tone of voice is a bit strict," Amiya explained, waving her hand, on behalf of the departed Kal'tsit.

"Where shall we go next?" Amiya asked after everyone had recovered from Kal'tsit's oppressive presence.

"How about the Greenhouse? Sister Lena's Greenhouse has so many beautiful flowers. Sister Lena said that as long as we don't harm the flowers, we can go play in the Greenhouse anytime."

Kanna raised her hand and suggested.

Everyone agreed with this suggestion, and then the group walked towards Lena's Greenhouse.

On the way, they met ACE. Looking at ACE, who was much thinner than before, Kanna asked with some confusion, "What's wrong, Uncle ACE?"

Amiya spoke softly only after ACE had walked away.

"It's all your fault, Kanna."

???

Seeing Kanna's bewildered expression, Amiya sighed and continued, "When you snuck out before, Big Brother ACE and his squad were responsible for the security at all checkpoints that day. Because of this oversight, Doctor Kal'tsit punished him to clean all the toilets on Rhodes Island for a month."

As she said this, she glanced at Kanna again, and everyone understood what Amiya meant.

"Eh heh!"

Hearing this, Kanna could only express internally, "I'm sorry, Uncle ACE. At the time, I only thought about sneaking out to complete the mission and didn't consider how much trouble it would cause the personnel on duty."

Seeing Amiya's helpless expression, Kanna clasped her hands together, "I promise I won't sneak out again. I'll go apologize to Uncle ACE later."

"Alright! Actually, it's not entirely your fault. We never thought Rhodes Island's surveillance would have such a big loophole. Because of this, Kroos has been extremely busy these days, working non-stop to rearrange all the surveillance on the ship, making sure this kind of situation doesn't happen again."
