"It's over."
Seeing the road blocked ahead, this was the first thought that rose in Silence's mind.
However, having dared to escape Rhine Lab with people, her inner strength was sufficient. Even with no road ahead, she had no intention of giving up.
She stomped on the accelerator, and the entire car sped towards the opposing vehicle.
Just as the two cars were about to collide, a wave of Originium Arts appeared ahead.
Accompanied by a roar, the vehicle blocking Silence's path was thrown several meters into the air, and Silence successfully broke through the blockade by following the newly opened path.
Caught by the sudden attack, the convoy also slowed down, trying to locate the attacker.
Then, they saw several Sarkaz wearing special combat suits standing side by side on a nearby hill.
The person in front simply waved a hand, and another vehicle was directly thrown into the air.
Now they understood they had encountered a tough opponent.
The vehicles behind immediately decelerated, preparing to retreat, with no thought of rescuing their comrades in front.
Are you kidding? If they had known that the car full of medical equipment and the extremely wealthy person behind it was a team of Sarkaz, they wouldn't have been so brain-dead as to launch an attack.
After all, Sarkaz were famously known for valuing money over life. Daring to steal money from Sarkaz meant first seeing if you had the life to spend it.
But just as they were turning their cars around, they discovered a desperate scene: a thick stone wall had risen behind them at some unknown point, and they had become trapped like turtles in a jar.
At this point, the people in the cars couldn't help but curse in despair. Were these Sarkaz crazy? Letting two Liberi and a child transport a car full of medical supplies as valuable as gold—was this not intentionally fishing?
Upon realizing their retreat was blocked, everyone jumped out of their cars, grabbed their weapons, and prepared to fight to the death.
As for surrender, falling into the hands of Sarkaz meant forgetting about surrender. Dying in battle was at least a quick process; being captured, who knew what kind of torment they would endure before death.
"Tsk! Are they preparing to resist to the end?" Logos, who had made the first move and sent two cars flying, said discontentedly as he watched their actions.
"After all, we are Sarkaz, and who would dare to fall into the hands of Sarkaz on the battlefield?" Misery, who participated in blocking the road, had his hands in his pockets, determined to compete with Logos for the title of Rhodes Island's top show-off.
"Ha~ I was sleeping and Kal'tsit woke me up, so annoying. Why don't these people just stay in their cars obediently..." Logos was unfazed by Misery's posturing, even yawning.
"What, so they can be crushed into meat paste by you while in the car? Do you think they're all idiots?" Misery retorted with a look as if he were staring at an imbecile.
"Whatever you say! These are just trash left over, I don't want to bother. It's all up to you guys. Finish it quickly, I still need to go back to sleep."
Seeing the opponents scattered, clearly worried about being wiped out if they gathered, Logos observed that there were no strong enemies worth his effort, so he sat down on a nearby rock, intending to let the others get some exercise.
Hearing Logos's words, the remaining people split into several teams and charged into the battlefield.
On one side were mercenaries who had come to take advantage of the chaos, and on the other were Rhodes Island's elite Sarkaz squad. As soon as they engaged, the situation immediately became a crushing defeat for the mercenaries.
It took less than ten minutes for the battlefield to fall silent again. Aside from a few light injuries sustained by warriors during the charge, Rhodes Island suffered no casualties. As for the other side, the scattered bodies on the ground were their fate.
After the battle, several team members were inspecting the opponents' bodies one by one, ensuring no one was faking death to escape.
Meanwhile, Silence, who had broken out of the encirclement, also saw the Sarkaz on the hillside. However, she was very familiar with the clothes those people wore, having seen them many times when Rhodes Island and Rhine Lab communicated. This equipment was the customary attire of Rhodes Island's guards. As for why there were so many Sarkaz within Rhodes Island, she was neither curious nor surprised; after all, an independent landship, separate from any nation, would have been devoured by the surrounding countries long ago if it didn't possess some hard power and was merely a pharmaceutical company.
As she drove over the hill, she saw an elderly Sarkaz woman standing in the middle of the road not far away.
Silence slowly pulled her car to a stop as she approached.
"Respected Ms. Silence, long time no see. I didn't expect to meet you here; this is truly a wonderful twist of fate." The Sarkaz woman paused when she saw Silence open the car door, then smiled and spoke.
"Ms. Outcast, on behalf of myself and my two companions, I thank Rhodes Island for its support." Meeting an acquaintance eased the tension Silence had been feeling.
Outcast had previously participated in an escort mission, and Silence was part of the Rhine Lab contingent at the time. The two had gotten along well during that mission, so both felt much more relaxed upon meeting again.
"Might I ask what brings you here?" After examining the vehicle, Outcast clearly saw that besides Silence, there were two other people in the car. One was also wearing a white lab coat, clearly a doctor, while the other, a pouting little Sarkaz, was obviously a patient even without being told.
What puzzled her was that if a patient needed transport, it wouldn't normally be handled by just two defenseless doctors; there would at least be security personnel.
Silence shook her head, indicating she didn't want to discuss it there, so Outcast led the way, guiding Silence and her group into Rhodes Island.
While the front lines were engaged in a fierce battle and Outcast was picking up people, Kanna was in the Lookout Tower with Scout, enjoying the show from a prime spot.
"Wow! Are those intestines?!" Kanna couldn't bear to watch anymore and covered her eyes. It was too brutal, a completely 18+ scene, definitely not something a young cub like her should be seeing.
"I have to admit, while Logos can be annoying when he's showing off, he's certainly skilled at training his subordinates." As for whether it was good for Kanna to be exposed to such a bloody battlefield at such a young age, Scout dismissed it as nonsense.
After all, during Kazdel's bloodiest conflicts, it was normal for Sarkaz her age to be on the front lines. Rather than trying to get Kanna to see blood later, wasn't now the best opportunity?
Besides, the two sides were several kilometers apart; even if they could see clearly, they couldn't smell anything. At most, it was visually shocking. In his opinion, this scene was merely a trifle. If it weren't to test Kanna's receptiveness to the battlefield, he would have gone down to play cards with Chang Xie.
However, for Kanna, this was the first time in two lifetimes she had witnessed such a bloody scene. This wasn't a pig farm or a slaughterhouse; the scattered body parts made her stomach feel a bit queasy—she probably wouldn't eat as much tonight.
