When they arrived at the Control Room, they only saw Kal'tsit and Amiya; everyone else seemed to have already left.
Kal'tsit told them to sit down before speaking.
"I won't pursue how you, Kanna, got onto the Lookout Tower. After all, you and Scout are Elite Operators, and I trust you will uphold the honor of Elite Operators. I also won't pursue the inexplicable dessert bill worth over 30,000 lungmen dollars... I just spoke with people from Rhine Lab. They know that you discovered they were under attack and requested support, so they are very grateful to you. They said if you hadn't discovered it in time, they would have suffered significant harm even if they had successfully escaped danger.
Afterward, the people from Rhine Lab will temporarily stay on Rhodes Island. Dr. Silence, who is leading them, hopes to thank both of you in person."
Kanna grumbled internally about 'temporarily.' What 'temporarily'? It was probably permanent. After all, after leaving Rhine Lab, the only medical institution with decent medical capabilities, able to provide Silence with enough development and trust, and capable of resisting external pressure from Rhine Lab, was truly Rhodes Island.
However, she only dared to think these words and didn't voice them.
Afterward, Scout gave a detailed report on the discovery of the Rhine Lab personnel. Kal'tsit and Amiya only learned from him that Kanna could see things several kilometers away with her naked eye, without any external aid.
"To be honest, Kanna is the most gifted sniper I've ever seen. With this ultra-long-range vision alone, the only thing hindering her from becoming an excellent sniper is equipment. After all, current crossbows and the Sarkaz guns we can get are far from reaching the limit of Kanna's vision."
Scout, for once, praised Kanna for this.
Kal'tsit subtly glanced up at Scout. As old teammates, how could she not sense Scout's appreciation for talent? However, Kanna was brought back by Outcast, and she herself didn't know if she was interested in learning to snipe, so Kal'tsit couldn't easily agree to such a thing on Kanna's behalf.
After discussing official matters, Kanna and Scout walked out of the Control Room. Before leaving, she chatted with Amiya for a while, and they agreed to meet at Rosmontis's place after dinner.
After coming out, Scout still looked somewhat regretful. Kanna scratched her head, not knowing what was wrong with him, and even joked with Scout.
"Speaking of which, I think an assassination style might suit me well. You see, I have stealth techniques that you envy, right? And I have strength that ordinary people can't match, right? What do you say, can we get a siege crossbow? Then I'll carry a ballista, stealthily get behind the opponent, and use that thing for assassination?"
Kanna waved her hand as she spoke, looking quite bold, though one had to ignore what she was saying... Scout frowned and pondered for a long time, unable to imagine a cub less than a meter tall, carrying a ballista several times her size, 'stealthily' moving on the battlefield.
Seeing Scout's disapproving look, Kanna waved her hand, indicating that it didn't matter if it wasn't feasible.
"Forget it. People named Kanna still need an axe in each hand, cutting their way from Xizhimen to Nantianmen to be considered a high-end stealth operative."
Scout didn't know where Kanna had learned this stubborn 'stealth method.' It couldn't be described as incurable, only as seriously ill.
After a discussion, at a fork in the road, Scout said he had to go back to work. Given Kanna's previous behavior, he didn't want to take her up again.
Kanna turned and put her hands on her hips, saying she had seen enough of the scenery and there was nothing else to play with up there. She hadn't planned on going up again anyway.
After saying goodbye, Scout walked towards the path to the bridge. Kanna looked down the corridor, unsure where to go to play.
Suddenly, she noticed a strange fluctuation in the space around her. At first, she thought it was Red, because Red often appeared and disappeared mysteriously, but after focusing her mind and looking, she realized it wasn't Red, but another little darling of Rhodes Island, Manticore.
She was a bit surprised to see Manticore. She had always thought Manticore hadn't come to the island, because Kal'tsit had never introduced her to the other members of Sweep, and she hadn't met her. Now it seemed her luck was just bad.
Thinking this, she chased after her, and as Manticore was slowly strolling forward, Kanna ran up to her and patted her shoulder.
"Eh!" Suddenly having someone pat her shoulder, Manticore, who had never experienced it, jumped up, and her tail involuntarily swirled into a whirlwind.
"Oh my! Your reaction is really exciting!" A young voice came from beside her ear.
Manticore turned to look and saw a little girl who looked less than ten years old smiling at her.
"Um... you... you can see me?" Manticore's emotions became a bit agitated at being suddenly discovered.
"Of course, your ability is quite interesting, but I'm still a bit stronger." Kanna proudly patted her chest.
"My name is Manticore, hello... My tail... when not fighting, it curls up... so, please don't be scared."
As she spoke, Manticore worried that the other party would be afraid of her eerie tail and actively retracted it. After all, it was rare for someone to actively see her, which filled her with surprise.
As a girl, although she really wanted to make friends her age, her innate talent made it difficult for her to be noticed by others. Even Amiya could only sense her presence through telepathy. Being invisible became a huge barrier between her and others.
"I'm not scared! Your tail is very beautiful, absolutely gorgeous." Manticore's tail was longer than her body, and with its large barbed hook and purple skin, it had a unique kind of beauty.
"Really?" Hearing Kanna's praise, Manticore's face flushed, and her tail stretched and retracted behind her, looking somewhat at a loss.
"Of course! Can I touch it?" Kanna walked beside Manticore, curiously looking at her exaggerated tail, wondering how she balanced her center of gravity with such a large tail.
"Of course you can... as long as I don't actively release it, there's no danger on my tail." Seeing Kanna's outstretched hands, Manticore instinctively wanted to dodge, but unexpectedly was accurately grabbed. Her face became even redder, unsure how to deal with the situation.
After touching the tail, Kanna found that Manticore took very good care of it. Every scale on it must have been meticulously cleaned, without a trace of dust or dirt.
