It had been almost half a month since that last mission that she was very dissatisfied with. During this time, the system would send Kanna a new mission on time, usually at a frequency of one mission per week.
But the incident where she was tricked made Kanna very unhappy, so she hadn't chosen to accept any missions during this period. Besides, the new missions all required her to leave the island, and Kanna hadn't received permission to leave the island recently. Of course, she also didn't have any new plans.
And if the person really was Provence, it was highly likely that a Calamity had occurred or was about to occur near Rhodes Island.
Although she was in a huff with the system and unwilling to actively take on missions, if a mission came to her, she could reluctantly accept it.
Thinking of this, she walked towards the Control Room. After all, if it really was a Calamity, Provence's report would only be to Kal'tsit.
As expected, when Kanna reached the entrance of the Control Room, she saw Provence saying something inside, with a somewhat agitated expression, while Kal'tsit and Amiya opposite her were listening carefully.
Just as she reached the door, Kanna saw Red looking regretful not far away. She walked over, "What's wrong?"
"Tail went inside, hunt failed." Looking at the constantly twitching purple tail inside the room, Red swallowed, then shook her head and disappeared into the corridor.
"Uh!" Seeing Red leave, Kanna was momentarily speechless, unsure how to comfort her.
As she reached the door, Kanna heard intermittent sounds coming from inside: "Calamity… aid… protection…"
She opened the door and quietly slipped inside.
Kal'tsit, who was inside, seemed to notice something. Her eyes flickered towards the door, spotting the little dragon-human stealthily sneaking in.
Upon seeing Kanna, she knew the little one had probably overheard something, as Kanna would never proactively appear in her line of sight unless Kal'tsit sought her out.
For Kanna to secretly follow, it was likely that information had leaked.
"Alright, ACE's squad just returned to the landship after completing a mission. Their squad specializes in defense and protection tasks, and they are extremely rich in both survival and combat experience. Let their squad accompany you to the Calamity-stricken area for the rescue mission."
After a brief thought, Kal'tsit agreed to Provence's request and dispatched the highly experienced ACE to lead the team.
Hearing Kal'tsit's words, Amiya beside her was somewhat surprised. After all, based on her understanding of Kal'tsit, while such a mission would indeed warrant assistance, it wouldn't typically involve ACE.
Just as Amiya was wondering about Kal'tsit's arrangement, a familiar voice came from behind, "Can I go too?"
"Kanna?" Amiya stood up and looked towards the door. Hearing her, Provence also turned around.
Provence frowned upon seeing a little girl. After all, she was here to request Rhodes Island arrange a team of Operators to assist her in relocating a small village currently experiencing a Calamity a hundred kilometers away. Bringing a child along seemed like nothing but a hindrance.
Kal'tsit sighed, seeing the expectant look on Kanna's face. "If I don't let you go, will you sneak off anyway?"
"Of course!" Kanna proudly lifted her head.
"Then there you have it. I can allow you to go, but you must listen to ACE." For Kanna, Kal'tsit had more or less figured out a way to handle her.
For a powerful child with strong curiosity, it would be troublesome to stop her once she made up her mind. It was better to let experienced Operators guide her. This way, Kanna's abilities could be maximized without incurring her displeasure.
"But this… Kanna, is it? We are going to rescue a village from a Calamity and its villagers. Bringing a child might not be appropriate," Provence, unaware of Kanna's strength, questioned Kal'tsit's arrangement, feeling that bringing a child to such an urgent mission was disrespectful.
"Don't worry, Operator Provence. Kanna is an Elite Operator of Rhodes Island. Her strength is more than sufficient; it's just that she's young, so her experience might not be as rich. We've also arranged for Rhodes Island's most experienced Operator, ACE, to go along. It won't affect your rescue plan."
Seeing Provence's concerns, Amiya spoke up for Kanna. Although she too found Kal'tsit's decision to let Kanna go surprising, since Kal'tsit had made up her mind, Amiya, who trusted Kal'tsit implicitly, had no intention of objecting.
Upon hearing Amiya's words, an expression of disbelief appeared in Provence's eyes. As a Calamity Messenger with close ties to Rhodes Island and also an Operator herself, Provence naturally understood the importance of Elite Operators to Rhodes Island.
She had seen every Elite Operator, and each one was a top talent capable of swaying the tide of battle.
Now, to be told that the Wyvern who looked to be less than ten years old in front of her was an Elite Operator… if she didn't know Kal'tsit's character, she might have thought Rhodes Island's management had taken too much Originium and gone mad.
"Isn't rescue work during a Calamity very urgent? Instead of debating whether I'm suitable to go, this older sister should make a decision quickly," Kanna said, seeing Provence still hesitating.
Hearing Kanna's words, Provence made up her mind. Just as Kanna said, instead of agonizing over whether her age was suitable for rescue work, it was better to follow Kal'tsit's advice. Arriving at the destination a second earlier meant saving more civilians.
Just as Kanna and Provence, armed with deployment orders issued by Amiya, arrived at the lower-level garage, ACE had already led her squad, fully prepared.
Before leaving, Kanna took out her communicator and called Rosmontis, telling her that she was going out with ACE for an urgent mission and would likely return soon.
Rosmontis, on the other end of the communicator, was silent for a moment, then told Kanna to be careful on her journey. Rosmontis said she would definitely work hard to cooperate with treatment and then catch up to Kanna's footsteps.
Soon, the group departed Rhodes Island in several vehicles.
As they left, Amiya and Kal'tsit stood by a window on an upper floor, watching the departing vehicles. Amiya asked, puzzled, "Isn't it a bit too early for Kanna to be undertaking such a mission? Couldn't she start with simpler security tasks, even if deployed?"
Kal'tsit nodded then shook her head. "Although you've been very close to Kanna lately, it seems you don't quite understand her, or…" Kal'tsit paused here. "I will explain about Kanna later. For now, you only need to know that Kanna is far more powerful than you imagine. Or rather, if true danger arises, Kanna is the hope for this team's desperate turnaround."
