Chapter 293 - Chapter 292: Vulcan’s Workshop”

Five days is neither long nor short.

For Kanna, who was watching movies indoors, and Nian, who was happily forging, it felt like the blink of an eye.

But for the other companions training under Dobermann, except for the two from the Medical Department, even the veteran Blue Poison felt like every day was a year.

In the morning, they received specialized combat training. In the afternoon, they gathered to fight with the instructor team. After dinner in the evening, they had to gather again to summarize the day's training content… This extreme pressure even made the usually adventurous Nightmare retreat into Gloria's body and refuse to show her face.

On the afternoon of the fifth day, Kanna successfully graduated from ACE and Outcast's tutelage. At the end of the assessment, ACE was still a bit reluctant about this period of "teaching." Mainly, many of Kanna's ideas and thoughts were too imaginative, and sometimes her insights were incredibly accurate, offering sharp suggestions that gave him a lot of inspiration.

Just as things concluded here, Closure brought news from Nian, telling her to go to the Engineering Department, to Vulcan's workshop, immediately.

Kanna, having just finished all her training, followed Closure towards the Engineering Department.

"Do you know Nian's background?" Closure asked on the way.

"What's wrong?" Nian had a very uninhibited and informal personality, and with her forging skills, she should have been thriving in the Engineering Department. So, hearing Closure's question, Kanna was a bit curious about what the other party had done to catch the attention of the head of the Engineering Department.

"Nothing, it's just that she's too strong. No matter where the ore comes from, she can easily identify it with just a glance. And her forging technique is so impressive that even Vulcan, that stubborn old man, respects her and willingly acts as her assistant. How could I not notice such a top-tier talent?

But when I asked her, she said she was just a blacksmith from Yan, and when she went to Kaltsit, Kaltsit told me not to worry about her. I heard that you and she have the best relationship on Rhodes Island, and she's also a member of your squad. You must know her background!"

Seeing Closure's eager expression, Kanna didn't know what to say. After thinking for a moment, she finally spoke, "Uh, since Kaltsit didn't tell you, I can't just blurt it out. But I can guarantee that she has no hostility towards Rhodes Island and won't be leaving for a long time. If you need anything, you can go directly to her. Nian has a pretty good temper, and if she's willing to tell you her identity, you'll naturally find out."

Closure summarized what she heard as: identity confidential, but trustworthy… which didn't really say anything… However, if even the veteran Kaltsit of Rhodes Island was unwilling to disclose information, it suggested that the identity of this young girl named Nian was likely unusual. As the saying goes, "the more you know, the sooner you die." Although she certainly had an urge to peel back the surface and explore the mysteries of such a secret, since she didn't get any information from Kanna, she decided not to ask anymore. After all, from Kanna's meaning, it could be inferred that the other party's identity was not ordinary, so it was better for her to stay out of it.

Soon, the two arrived outside Vulcan's workshop. As they reached the door, they saw Cerberus squatting outside the main entrance like a guard dog. Waves of heat blasted from inside the room, almost drying out Cerberus's fur. Although she was somewhat dazed by the heat, her exposed eyes still shone brightly.

Upon seeing Kanna arrive, she pounced on her, "Kanna-chan!"

Hugging Cerberus's head, Kanna reached out and smoothed her fluffy fur. "Cerberus, what are you doing here?"

"It's too hot in the house. Sister Vulcan told me to guard the door and keep others from getting close, so they wouldn't get burned by the heatwave. Speaking of which, what kind of injury is a burn?" Cerberus flashed a happy smile, looking a bit silly.

Looking at Cerberus's smiling face, Kanna couldn't resist reaching out and tugging it. After a moment of thought, she pulled out a light golden stick from her pocket and handed it to her. This was a "Magic Weather Staff" she had just bought from the long-unused system store. Through system modification, this weapon could produce three different spell effects—fire, water, and lightning—based on the user's thoughts.

Holding the new weapon, Cerberus, under Kanna's guidance, sprayed a string of water from the stick. Caught off guard, she was drenched, but Cerberus wasn't annoyed by this; instead, she enthusiastically played with the stick in her hand.

After Cerberus's attention was completely focused on her new toy, Kanna, enduring the heat emanating from the house, walked inside.

"I won't accompany you, okay? This hot place isn't really suitable for me. If you need anything, just contact me through the terminal. Goodbye!" Closure, who had accompanied Kanna, didn't go in with her. Instead, after bidding Kanna farewell, she left.

After Closure left, Kanna entered Sister Vulcan's workshop. Upon entering, she saw the large, glowing red furnace in the middle of the workshop, constantly spewing out heatwaves.

"You've come at a good time, Kanna! Come over to the forging platform!" Hearing footsteps from the doorway, Nian spoke without turning her head.

Sister Vulcan, who was assisting nearby, looked up towards the door when she heard Nian's words and saw Kanna just walking in from outside.

"Alright!" Kanna exerted a slight force and bounded over to the forging platform.

She stretched her head to look inside. On the forging platform was semi-liquid metal that hadn't yet taken shape.

"Don't look now. When it's done, you can look whenever you want. Now, inject your lightning into these metals. Be careful and take it slow!"

Nian said to Kanna while carefully controlling the equipment in her hands.

Listening to her, Kanna spread her hands. "I don't know how to do this!"

"Can you control lightning in your hand?!" Nian looked up and glanced at Kanna, finding her looking back innocently. She must genuinely not understand, so Nian could only explain it differently.

"That's no problem!" Thanks to her increasing proficiency with Palm Thunder, Kanna's ability to conjure lightning by hand had surpassed Chidori's advancement and reached the level of a Lightning Rasengan.

Kanna extended her small hand, and a visible bolt of lightning was controlled by her, hovering not far from her palm.

Nian observed carefully and then said, "Reduce the power by one-third, then slowly transfer this lightning into the molten iron."

Kanna made an OK gesture with her other hand and then easily completed Nian's request.

"Make sure the lightning doesn't break, and keep the transmission frequency steady. Sister Vulcan, increase the heat! We're about to begin the final forging!"
