🩸 A CALL IN THE DARK

Chapter 3: Blood in the Hallways

---

The next morning, the sky was the color of bruised flesh — dark purple clouds pressing down on Valencia High.

The storm hadn't stopped since the night of their training.

Adrian's right arm still burned from the sigil scars, veins glowing faintly beneath his skin.

Adriana's whip, now wrapped around her wrist like a serpent of chain and light, pulsed in rhythm with her heartbeat.

Neither of them spoke as they walked through the gates.

But both could feel it.

The stench of evil, crawling under their skin.

---

🕯 Scene 1: The Silence Before the Blood

The classrooms were too quiet.

Desks neatly arranged. Windows fogged.

No laughter. No chatter.

Only whispers.

> Adriana (low): "It's like a graveyard."

Adrian: "Maybe it already is."

As they turned the corner near the lockers, they saw Darius — the school's biggest bully, the same one who used to shove Adrian's head into trash cans for fun.

He stood with his back to them, motionless, muttering something under his breath.

> Adrian: "Hey… Darius?"

No answer.

He turned.

And smiled.

But his mouth kept stretching.

Wider.

And wider.

Until it tore through his cheeks, revealing rows of needle-like teeth dripping with black saliva.

> Darius (distorted voice): "You two smell different now… sweet… cursed…"

His skin peeled off like wet paper, revealing scales of black ash.

Wings erupted from his back, splattering the walls with blood.

> Adriana (horrified): "Oh, god—"

Adrian: "No god here."

Rin's voice echoed in Adrian's head — "Don't hesitate. Kill or die."

---

⚔️ Scene 2: First Blood

Darius — no, the demon inside him — leapt forward, claws slicing through lockers like butter.

Adrian blocked with his twin blades, sparks flying as metal clashed with monster hide.

> Darius: "Your fear… it's delicious!"

Adrian (gritting teeth): "Then choke on it!"

He slashed, but the demon's tail whipped him across the hall, sending him crashing through a wall.

Blood sprayed. His vision blurred.

Adriana screamed.

Her chain-whip unraveled, glowing with crimson energy.

> Adriana: "Stay away from my brother, you freak!"

She swung — the whip wrapped around Darius's neck.

She yanked hard, and with a sickening crack, the creature's head twisted —

but it didn't fall.

Instead, it laughed —

a sound that echoed like dozens of voices inside her skull.

> Darius: "You think you're strong now? You're just like us. You just haven't realized it yet."

Adriana's vision distorted. The walls melted. She saw flashes —

her own reflection, eyes glowing red, drenched in blood.

She screamed and pulled harder — until the chain burst into flame.

Her whip ignited with her rage, slicing through the demon's neck.

Head. Gone.

The body twitched once, then fell.

Ashes filled the air like black snow.

🩸 Scene 3: The Awakening

Adrian staggered up, wiping blood from his mouth.

He looked at his sister — panting, covered in gore, eyes glowing faintly red.

> Adrian: "Adriana… your eyes."

Adriana (breathing heavy): "What about them?"

Adrian: "They're not human."

Before she could respond, the school bell rang.

But the sound was warped — deep, guttural, like a funeral toll.

Every door in the hallway swung open at once.

Dozens of students stepped out.

Only… they weren't students anymore.

Their eyes glowed red.

Their mouths stretched too wide.

The bullies.

The classmates.

All demons.

Adrian raised his blades.

Adriana flicked her whip, flames sparking.

> Adrian (low): "Guess training's not over."

Adriana (grinning): "Let's make Rin proud."

They charged.

The hallway exploded into chaos — blood, fire, screams.

Adrian moved like a ghost, blades flashing silver in the stormlight, carving through flesh and shadow alike.

Adriana danced through the carnage, her whip a living flame, severing limbs and burning demons to ash.

But for every one that fell, more appeared — crawling from vents, from the floor, from nowhere.

One lunged at Adrian from behind —

and was suddenly split in half by a black flash.

Rin Kaito stood behind them, coat dripping with rain.

His sword burned with demonic light.

> Rin: "You broke the first rule."

Adrian: "What rule?"

Rin: "Never fight on sacred ground without sealing it first."

He slammed his hand on the blood-soaked floor, chanting in ancient tongues.

Symbols erupted across the hallway — sealing the demons mid-air, freezing them like shattered glass.

> Rin: "Lesson three… Control the darkness, or it'll eat you alive."

The twins stood surrounded by ash and corpses, trembling, drenched in blood.

Their breathing synced.

Their hearts pounded in unison.

They weren't normal anymore.

And they knew it.
