Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Fusion Aliens First Appearance — 1 + 1 > 2

It was another quiet morning.

Grandpa Max's old Rustbucket rumbled into a dusty gas station — running on fumes as usual.

While Max refueled outside, Ben and Gwen wandered into the convenience store.

Inside, Ben's eyes instantly locked onto Ethen's wrists — now gleaming with two Omnitrixes.

"Whoa! Two Omnitrixes?! Ethen, don't tell me you built the other one yourself?"

Ethen smirked, tapping both watches so that their holographic alien menus floated in midair. "Nope. Both are the real deal."

Ben blinked. "Wait, two real ones?"

Ethen nodded solemnly. "Looks like my Omnitrix pulled off some kind of... clone technique. Guess I'm just lucky like that."

He said it with complete confidence — even though it was absolute nonsense.

Gwen glanced at Ben, and they both shrugged.

After everything they'd seen this summer, a "cloned Omnitrix" didn't even crack the top ten weirdest things.

Outside, a red sports car zoomed down the highway toward the gas station.

Before it could even reach the pumps—

BOOM!!

A laser blast came out of nowhere and struck the car dead-on. The vehicle exploded into a ball of fire, thick smoke billowing into the sky!

"What the heck—?!"

Screams erupted as people ran for cover.

Grandpa Max's expression hardened. "This is a gas station… if that fire spreads, it's going to blow!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three masked figures strode out of the smoke — each wearing black combat armor, white smiley helmets, and armed with laser rifles.

They fired warning shots into the air, laughing as civilians scattered in terror.

One of them spotted Max trying to quietly start the Rustbucket.

"Hey, old man, what're you lookin' at?"

Before he could fire, another shouted, "Boss, check that kid in the store — he's asking for it!"

"Huh?" The leader turned and froze.

Ethen stood in front of the convenience store window — completely unfazed. He raised one hand and flipped them off.

Then, he slammed both Omnitrixes together — their holographic dials locking in place with a glowing pulse.

Fwooom!!

A blinding green light enveloped him.

The robbers panicked. "He's transforming! Open fire!"

Zap! Zap! Zap!

Lasers poured into the light — tearing through smoke and glass — but when the glare faded…

A massive figure stepped out of the flames.

His body was made of thick vines and bark, his head blazing with emerald fire, and four muscular arms flexed as the wounds on his chest healed instantly.

Ben's jaw dropped. "No way…! That's Swampfire mixed with Four Arms!"

Gwen blinked. "A fusion alien?! Ethen can combine them?!"

Even Grandpa Max looked stunned. "I thought I'd seen it all, but that— that's something entirely new."

The hulking creature turned its burning gaze on the robbers. "You picked the wrong gas station."

"W-wait, don't shoot!" the leader stammered, trembling.

Too late. The Four-Armed Swampfire charged forward, shrugging off every laser blast that hit him.

Each wound sealed instantly as vines regrew over molten bark.

The robbers' courage evaporated.

"We surrender! Don't kill us!" they screamed, dropping their weapons and throwing their hands up.

Ethen's fusion form stopped in front of them, firelight reflecting in his eyes. "Relax. I'm not that cruel."

He clenched one massive fist, flames gathering around it. "I just want to make sure you never try this again."

He drove his fiery fist into the ground in front of them.

BOOM!!

A massive explosion erupted, the shockwave sending the robbers flying like rag dolls.

When the smoke cleared, they lay sprawled across the road, clothes scorched black — alive, but completely out cold.

Ethen smirked. "See? I'm merciful."

Ben winced. "Yeah, merciful… sure."

Just then, a faint metallic buzzing filled the air.

Tiny hovering surveillance drones appeared overhead, cameras glowing red as they scanned the area.

"Unidentified DNA detected. Unidentified DNA detected…"

The drones zoomed closer, trying to get clearer readings.

They'd catalogued thousands of species across the galaxy — but never encountered fused alien DNA.

Ding!

Mission Triggered: "Smash Everything!"

Vilgax has dispatched surveillance drones to gather your data. They've spotted your new fusion form — eliminate them before they report back!

Reward: +10 Points

Ethen sighed. "Figures. Vilgax's spies again."

He turned his blazing eyes toward the incoming swarm. "Guess I'll have to smash you too."

Whoosh!

In a flash of green, XLR8 skidded to a stop beside him. "Need a hand?"

Ethen grinned through his burning jawline. "Nah. I've got this. Help Grandpa Max get people to safety!"

"On it!"

XLR8 darted off in a blur, helping Grandpa Max pull survivors away from the fire.

Ethen cracked his knuckles and faced the drones. "Alright then…"

He launched forward, fiery thrusters bursting from his feet like rockets!

The ground cracked beneath him as he leapt high into the air, slamming one massive vine arm toward the nearest drone.

WHIP!!

His arm split into dozens of vine tendrils, snapping through the air like whips.

The first drone exploded instantly, scattering debris across the parking lot.

"Target DNA: impossible to replicate," the remaining drones buzzed. "Species fusion not recognized. Data—corrupted—"

BOOM!

Ethen's next strike obliterated the rest.

He landed heavily, vines retracting as the flames around him dimmed.

"Sorry, Vilgax. This data's classified."
