Morning light fell through the curtains, giving a soft glow across Amelia's room. The world outside seemed calm, but her mind was still caught in the dream — her grandmother's sorrowful face, the whisper of the forest, and that dark scary voice.
Sophie sat near the window, sipping tea sleepily. "So," she said, glancing at Amelia, "you think your grandmother was trying to warn you through dreams .?"
Amelia looked down at her wrist. The mark had stopped glowing, yet she could still feel it — a quiet flow of power through her skin. "She said the darkness watches through my reflection… what does that even mean?"
Sophie frowned. "Maybe it means....
mirrors. Or maybe something is connected to your powers. If she's warning you about the darkness, we can't just ignore it we have to be careful."
Amelia nodded slowly. "She also said I have to learn to control my magic. I have to feel my magic but I don't know how I will do that."
Sophie came forward, determination flashing in her eyes. "you will be able to do that and i am sure of that,
and we have to find some clues first let's start with your father's study . His study room might have some clues. he never let us in there — maybe that's where the answers are."
Amelia hesitated. "i know he keeps all his important things there i also wanted to search there before but It's always locked."
"Then let's find the key " Sophie stood up, brushing off her hands like it was decided. "like i said, How hard can it be?"
...
After some time
They searched for nearly an hour , drawers, shelves, even behind the old portraits. They only found Dust and silence....
yet the key to her father's study was nowhere to be found.
Sophie laid on the sofa and said
"I take that back... It's really difficult he hid the key too well we searched the whole house but didn't find the key.. do you think he took it with him"
Amelia smiled weakly, "He's too careful. He must have either hidden it somewhere only he knows or maybe he really took it with him "
After some thought a light flashed in her eyes she said
"..... let's try some other way "
As they went near the study room
Sophie glanced toward the locked study door. The old oak handle shined faintly in the light. "That door looks like it's mocking us."
"Maybe it is," Amelia murmured, walking closer.
She pressed her palm against the wood — it felt cold, colder than the rest of the house.
She tried to feel the magic in her veins and guide it towards the door her hand glowed faintly with blue light but the door didn't open.
Her mark also glowed but then stopped.
Sophie's eyes widened. "Did you just.....?"
"I think… the room has some sort of protection spell too," Amelia whispered.
Sophie said "your father is really careful !"
"But why were you trying to break it ,if we break the lock your father will surely know we were searching in the study room"
"..... I have a feeling he already knows that I am searching for clues. When these things started i noticed he was always behaving strangely and whenever I asked him any questions he gave a strange answer....
And ..I know him well enough to know he never leaves his things unprotected "
Sophie walked toward the window, sighing ,
"So everything we did went equal to nothing"
and then froze"Well," Sophie said after a pause, "if the front door won't open… maybe the back door will."
Amelia frowned. "There's no back door to the study."
Sophie grinned, pointing toward the window. "But there's a tree."
Amelia came closer and followed her gaze. Just outside the upper hall window in the garden,a large tree stretched its branches dangerously close to the study's window..
"Sophie," Amelia said flatly. "No."
Sophie folded her arms. "Do you want to keep standing here and stare at the door? Or do you actually want to find some answers?"
Amelia sighed, torn between sense and curiosity. "…Fine. But if we fall, I'm blaming you."
"Deal," Sophie said, already pulling her .
