Chapter 8
I stood at the private lobby provided at the private wing I had commissioned for the admittance of my father.
The doctor and I just rounded up our conversation and I thought to share it with Gale. This was their fault. So I placed a call directly to him.
"Hey, what's going on?" Gale's voice boomed through the phone's speaker.
"Someone has been feeding dad some rare type of poison, and it's about to kill him. I just finish talking to the doctor who told me dad's chances of survival is a slim probability. I was told the poison he's been consuming has been damaging his lungs and a lot more. I-"
"Wait. Hold up! What do you mean someone has been feeding him a rare type of poison? How? Since when? How did you get to find that out?" Gale sounded genuinely confused.
"We're at the state's general. I think it's better I explain to you in person than on call, you can come with the rest. Call them and let them know," I told him and before he had the chance to probe further, I ended the call.
Who could have been feeding him that poison?
"Hey!" A familiar voice jolted behind me, and upon turning around I was met with the annoying face of my father's supposed new wife.
She had a huge smile glued to her face and a look I'm pretty sure she was forcing herself to mask.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, my voice thick with hatred.
"Need I remind you that it's my husband you brought in here for treatment. Do I need to fill an application to come check on him?" She scoffed as she raised her left brow.
"Hmm." My gaze on her squinted. I don't trust this chick.
I mean I walked in on her standing next to my father with a pillow in hand, and now I just got to learn that my father's sickness wasn't natural but conducted.
Not to mention how she lied to my brothers that it was just a simple fever when it was way severe.
"No visitors allowed at the moment, and I don't care if he's your husband or anything but you're no longer allowed to be alone with him in the same room ever again. Got it?"
I stared her down, suppressing the overwhelming urge to launch at her, pin her against the wall and force her to fess up to the crimes I think she's committed.
"Rahne!"
I snapped up at the voice who called my name, only to see the two faces of people I never thought I'd cross path with again so quick.
I rolled my eyes, preparing myself mentally for whatever I'm about to go through.
"I couldn't believe it. I saw you from afar and thought that face looked familiar. Even Samir thought the same when I pointed at you for him to look at, I just had to drag him all the way over here for us to come confirm." Rose Ledgers, a sick thorn on my flesh, spoke up once she's gotten to a minimal distance away from me. Clinging still and close to the man I once regarded to as my husband.
"So you both were that jobless?" I hissed at them, attempting to walk away because I've got bigger problems to deal with right now than give audience to the trash I'm not ready to take out just yet.
"Had to let you know that I'm pregnant!"
I halted at the pursuit of her words.
"Thought I'd share the good news with you. We just found out tonight, after you left I got a little bit sick and Samir took me to the doctor who later confirmed my pregnancy to the both of us. Isn't that the best news ever?!" She rambled on once she realized she's gotten to me.
"If I'm not mistaken. Isn't this suppose to be your husband?" My father's wife also spoke up, confusion all over her voice.
I turned around, looking straight into Samir's face.
"Take your girlfriend and kindly get out of my sight before I have the both of you thrown out!" I worded as calmly as I could, not a single reaction out of place.
Rose immediately cracked into a loud laugh, staring at me as if I've gone mad.
"Who do you think you are? Samir did you hear her? She just threatened us?" Rose spoke amidst her laughter.
A smile touched my lips as my attention drifted off to my phone to dial a contact.
"I need you both in here, ASAP!" I instructed.
"Yes ma'am!"
Barely five seconds later, two hefty men had came into the scene.
"How did they both get in here? Weren't you both suppose to keep this wing guarded?" I first off decided to query them because truly how did they make it through the entrance.
"We're sorry ma'am. We didn't think there'd be an intruder when we decided to go make use of the restroom!" The one on the left answered.
"There's going to be a penalty for that, but for now I want the both of them thrown out." I demanded, pointing at my ex husband and his mistress.
Shock slowly morphed into their faces as the two men turned to face them.
"Ma'am, Sir. I'm sorry but you both need to leave. This is a private wing and unless you're invited which you both are not, you're trespassing!"
"That's my wife!" Samir finally spoke up, fury seeping into his features.
"I didn't instruct you to ask them to leave, I said throw them out," I said to the guards before my gaze went back to Samir who looked like he just saw a ghost of himself.
"And sir please be mindful of who you refer to as your wife. We're no longer united, and to have answered your last name was a curse I'm happy to be rid of. Congratulations on your pregnancy by the way, nice to know that this was truly what I deserved from you."
"Please throw them out!"
I turned around, walking off as their opposing screams while they get manhandled out of the lobby lit up the dark feelings soaring through my heart.
We were married for five years and he never mistakenly think to consummate our marriage, yet he's gotten his mistress pregnant in between what time?
Oh Samir.
You're going to wish you never broke my heart.
