Chapter 25 - The Confused and Bewildered Coconut Goat

After leaving Sky Island, Lin Ze couldn't help but sigh. The two Thrones of this world really knew how to play their games.

And their strength—indeed, not bad at all. The waters ran very deep.

Where did the Throne in the Abyss come from? And the Throne on Sky Island—where did that come from? And the means by which the world was nailed to the Imaginary Tree—where did that originate?

With the strength of Tianli, it should have been impossible to achieve such a thing.

[This trip to Sky Island was truly fruitful!]

[I've even met those Yuanshen who have become gods—they're all still alive and doing quite well. At first, when I didn't see them, I thought they were all gone.]

[I met Tianli and cleared up a few doubts. Unfortunately, I promised the Maintainer of Tianli not to speak about it.]

[Otherwise, I would've shown off for sure.]

[Still, I can now safely take out some things that don't belong to this world. Tianli has already agreed, so there's no need to worry about having to fight her later.]

[Don't you think so, Tianli?]

Tianli sighed softly. "Ha~ I knew it. He just has to show off. Thankfully, he's still keeping his word."

Maintainer: "Do you want me to remind him again?"

Tianli: "No need. But keep an eye on him. If he goes into the Abyss, notify me immediately."

Ningguang muttered, "I wonder if Tianli will even allow the Heart of God to circulate out here…"

The Tsaritsa: "So Tianli possesses that thing as well… I must hasten the plan. Why are they moving so slowly?"

Not long after Lin Ze returned to his villa, Ningguang and the other two arrived again.

This time, Lin Ze truly hadn't expected them, but he still invited the three of them inside.

"How did Tianli respond?"

As soon as Lin Ze brought them into the courtyard and closed the door, Ningguang couldn't wait. She quickly set up a barrier and asked eagerly.

She had been waiting so long that even her patience was wearing thin. She was prepared to stay up all night if she had to—yet Lin Ze had returned far sooner than expected.

The Heart of God was crucial. Although Keqing's analysis made sense, Ningguang wasn't the type to give up even a sliver of hope.

"Tianli said that the Hearts of God I create can be distributed freely.

Give them to whomever I want. But if anyone uses one of these Hearts of God to ascend into godhood through other means, that newly ascended god will be immediately summoned to Sky Island."

Tianli's scheme couldn't be more blatant—she wasn't even trying to hide it.

If someone became a god using Lin Ze's Heart of God, she would just pull them up to Sky Island to help repair the spatial rifts.

That way, she wouldn't even need to expend much of Sky Island's own power. After all, these Hearts of God were condensed using Lin Ze's own strength.

Tianli would be thrilled if Lin Ze started mass-producing these Hearts of God and distributing them—letting people across Teyvat ascend one after another, relieving her burden while she continued plotting her next move against the Throne of the Abyss.

"What if the Hearts of God were turned into weapons instead?"

At those words, Ningguang's eyes brightened, and she immediately pressed on.

Tianli had permitted Lin Ze to sell Hearts of God, and any ascended god would be taken to Sky Island. So as long as no one actually ascended, it should be fine, right?

"Tianli doesn't care—as long as you don't go overboard and shatter Teyvat itself.

And even if a masterless Heart of God is forged into a weapon, it doesn't have the destructive power to destroy Teyvat.

Still, it's best not to overuse them. Tianli, like other Archons, also loves humanity. She doesn't wish to see too much bloodshed."

Lin Ze had already asked Tianli about this question beforehand, and now he simply repeated her answer word for word.

As for what happened five hundred years ago in Khaenri'ah—

Tianli said it was because Khaenri'ah's geography was special. The subterranean kingdom had accidentally discovered the power of the Abyss.

They began researching Abyssal technology, and were gradually corrupted by its whispers. That was why Tianli ultimately ordered the destruction of Khaenri'ah.

After all, Tianli loved mankind—but once Khaenri'ah had embraced the Abyss and turned to its power, they were no longer human.

And if they were no longer human, then what love was there left to give?

Lin Ze had also asked Tianli about the ordinary people of Khaenri'ah.

Tianli said that even the youngest children in Khaenri'ah had Abyssal energy secretly infused into their bodies.

The "curse" that turned them into Hilichurls was not Tianli's doing—it was the Abyssal power itself. Tianli had merely erased part of the hidden corruption.

Tianli's power and that of the Abyssal Throne counteracted each other. Both sides were weakened back then—but Khaenri'ah was still strong enough to turn it into a tragedy.

"That's enough. That's more than enough.

Now it all depends on the Geo Archon's decision!"

Ningguang's excitement grew. Although Tianli didn't recommend overusing weapons forged from Hearts of God, even one would be enough!

Even if the Geo Archon were truly gone, Liyue would still possess a weapon powerful enough to deter all other nations!

"Thank you for your trouble, Mr. Lin Ze. We won't disturb you further—may you have a good dream!"

Perhaps because she had finally gotten the answer she wanted, Ningguang's tone trembled slightly with excitement.

After taking a few deep breaths to steady herself, she and Keqing left in high spirits.

It was done—completely done! The matter of the Heart of God was as good as secured!

As for the Geo Archon—surely the wise Archon of Liyue would not refuse.

After all, even Tianli hadn't objected, right?

Ganyu, however, wasn't as overjoyed as the others. Though happy, she also felt lost.

After watching Ningguang and Keqing leave, Ganyu wandered alone through the port of Liyue.

The Geo Archon was preparing to feign death and hand over authority. If Ningguang succeeded, Liyue would soon possess many Hearts of God.

Would she still be needed as secretary to the Qixing?

In a Liyue ruled by mortals, would there still be a place for her—half-adeptus as she was?

'Should I return to Master's side and live in seclusion among the mountains, like the other adepti?'

Her heart was filled with uncertainty.

And at that moment, there was no one who could give her an answer.

The more she thought, the more confused she became. The more confused she became, the heavier the thoughts weighed upon her.

By the time the sun rose, Ganyu suddenly realized how late it was—it was time to go to work at Yujing Terrace.

"This sunrise… it doesn't look that amazing. Why do people like watching it so much, anyway?"

She wasn't the only one who hadn't slept that night. Lin Ze hadn't slept either. Watching the sun rise slowly over the sea, he sighed softly.

Others found watching the sunrise by the ocean romantic—so many people loved doing it.

He figured, since he was already staying up all night, he might as well watch the sunrise too. But in the end, it wasn't that spectacular after all.

Scratching his head, Lin Ze turned back to his room and took out the reward the system had given him yesterday.

It was a pillow—specifically, a double-sided pillow printed with the image of the Coconut Goat.

It didn't matter whose image it bore; what mattered was that Lin Ze actually quite liked the pillow. That was all.

As long as no one found out, this pillow might as well not exist, right?

As for whether Lin Ze liked Ganyu…

Lin Ze thought for a moment. He decided he didn't. He was just… a little greedy, that's all!

At least he was honest about it!
