From the distant city wall, Asuma's eyes lit up.
These little guys really didn't disappoint him.
A faint smile appeared on Kurenai Yuhi's lips.
Not giving up in the face of setbacks, but instead searching for opportunities to escape—this was the quality of an excellent shinobi.
Still, she couldn't help but feel concerned about Hinata and Ino's sudden chakra outbursts.
Were these two girls really this strong?
Especially Hinata—if she truly had this much potential, then why had Hyuga Hiashi treated her as a failure?
"It looks like we won't need to step in. Now it's their turn to fight back," Asuma said casually.
In his eyes, as an elite jonin, fights at this level were like kids playing house.
He didn't think too hard about how Ino had broken free so easily.
Kurenai didn't press the issue either. She had questions, but now wasn't the time to raise them.
On the battlefield, the bandits retreated in panic.
The last remaining wandering ninja stepped forward, but even his expression was shaken.
"How the hell is this possible? How did you all break free from the Heavy Binding Technique so easily?!" he roared, face twisted in disbelief.
Shino calmly directed his Parasitic Insects, freeing Kiba and Akamaru from their restraints.
"The so-called Heavy Binding Technique works by secretly injecting chakra into our bodies during close combat," Shino explained, voice steady. "That way, when the jutsu is activated, it locks us down before we realize it."
"But this trick doesn't work on me. My insects devour chakra."
He raised his hands, and a dense black mist of Parasitic Insects swarmed around him.
Shikamaru continued the analysis. "When you cast the technique, we weren't all in the same area. There were people between us, but only the six of us got caught. That meant there had to be some hidden factor."
"So I checked my body, and just like Shino said, I found a foreign chakra embedded inside."
"I'm guessing that when you disguised yourselves as civilians to fight us earlier, your real goal wasn't just to tire us out, but to sneak that chakra into us for later."
"You hid it well—we didn't notice at the time. But once you activated the Heavy Binding Technique, the injected chakra resonated with the jutsu. That resonance was your biggest flaw."
Shino nodded. "Exactly. After being infected, breaking free with brute force is difficult, but with my kikaichū, it was simple. And in the worst case, I can always rely on my partners."
Choji, having just knocked out a sword-wielding bandit with a single punch, grinned. "That's right. With everyone helping, it wasn't so bad."
Kiba puffed out his chest, refusing to be left behind. "Tch! Heavy Binding Technique? I figured it out ages ago! Right, Akamaru?"
"Woof! Woof!" Akamaru barked, wagging his tail.
"Liar," Shino cut him down flatly. "You didn't figure it out. You were begging for help a moment ago."
"Stop talking nonsense!" Kiba snapped, his face reddening. "I wasn't begging. You just butted in and interfered! Otherwise, I'd have been free ages ago!"
"Woof…" Akamaru whined, sounding guilty.
Shino's expression didn't change. "We can always let you get captured again, if you'd prefer."
Kiba's face went scarlet.
I can't keep this teammate!
"Don't get cocky!"
The wandering ninja's panic shifted into fury as he watched the kids bickering.
Did they think he had no pride left?
With a snarl, he yanked a small glass vial from his robes, pulled the cork with his teeth, and downed the liquid in one gulp.
"Hey, hey—stop joking around! That guy just drank something weird!" Shikamaru's expression sharpened, his instincts screaming danger.
Kiba, of course, ignored him. Clapping his hands together, he sneered. "Tch! Who cares what crap he drank? I only got caught because I wasn't paying attention. Watch this! Akamaru—let's go!"
"Woof!"
Akamaru followed Kiba as they charged straight at the wandering ninja.
"Don't be so impulsive, seriously…" Shikamaru groaned, dragging a hand down his face.
They didn't even know what the enemy's new ability was. Rushing in blind was just asking to get wrecked.
Sure enough—the very next moment, the wandering ninja caught Kiba by the throat with one hand and kicked Akamaru flying.
"What the hell?!"
Everyone froze in shock. Hinata and Ino quickly regrouped with Shikamaru and Shino, eyes wary.
"Little brat, you seemed the cockiest of all," the wandering ninja sneered.
With a ripping sound, his shirt tore apart as his body swelled.
His muscles ballooned outward, veins bulging, arms thick as tree trunks.
In seconds, the man had transformed from an average fighter into a hulking monster.
Hinata gasped, Byakugan flaring wide. "His physical strength… it's multiplied several times over! Even his chakra has spiked!"
At this level, even if she and Ino fought at full strength together, they doubted they could take him down.
"That potion he drank… that's what did it," Shikamaru muttered, eyeing the discarded glass bottle.
Unfortunately, he couldn't make out its properties.
"Boss is invincible!"
"Boss is super!"
The other bandits whooped and cheered, their fear vanishing. Their leader was unstoppable!
Shikamaru and the others exchanged grim looks. So this guy was the true leader of the group.
Not that it made their current situation any better.
"Let me go!" Kiba struggled desperately, face turning red from the giant's grip around his neck.
But his thrashing was useless—like an ant trying to topple a tree.
"Everyone! Together!" Shikamaru barked.
The five genin launched their attacks in unison.
"Parasitic Insects: Devour!"
"Gentle Fist!"
"Shadow Possession Jutsu!"
"Human Boulder!"
"Mind Transfer Jutsu!"
The wandering ninja only curled his lips in disdain.
With one hand still holding Kiba's neck, he swung the other in a massive punch.
The shockwave alone scattered Shino's Parasitic Insects and sent Hinata tumbling backwards with a scream.
Shikamaru's shadow latched on, and Choji's Human Boulder rolled in—but a sudden explosion of chakra shattered the shadow possession, and Choji was knocked spinning through the air.
Throughout it all, the man never once loosened his grip on Kiba.
Finally, Ino unleashed her Mind Transfer Jutsu.
But the instant her spirit collided with his body, she shrieked in pain.
Blood dribbled from the corner of her mouth as her consciousness was violently forced back into her own body.
The five little strong men had charged together.
And the five little strong men were sent flying back in defeat.
The sudden burst of strength from the wandering ninja was simply overwhelming.
