Chapter 86 - Chapter 85: Arriving at the Land of Waves, Zabuza Attacks

[Tsunade: Anko, did the content in those videos really happen?]

[Anko Mitarashi: Tsunade-sama, have you already finished watching? Actually, those are future videos. They appear before the events occur. The last one came out three days ago, but the events only happened yesterday.]

[Anko Mitarashi: What's certain is that these videos are real, and the reality is almost identical to what's shown in them.]

[Tsunade: Then… Itsuki's Wood Release is real too? Have you confirmed it yourself?]

[Anko Mitarashi: It's true. I haven't seen him use Wood Release directly, but I've seen the aftermath of his techniques. Just yesterday, he used Wood Release: Tree Binding to pretend it was genjutsu and attacked Kurenai.]

[Tsunade: …What exactly is going on with this group?]

[Anko Mitarashi: Honestly, I only joined a few days ago. Aside from you, I'm the newest member here… crash, bang, clatter …That's it!]

[Tsunade: Hmph. I still can't believe something this outrageous exists in the world.]

[Anko Mitarashi: But it does. I'm already level 3, with a 300% buff effect. All my stats have tripled. I was just a special jonin before, but a few days ago, I passed the jonin exam easily thanks to the buff.]

[Anko Mitarashi: If you still doubt it, Tsunade-sama, I can prove it to you in person.]

[Tsunade: Good. But before that, I want you to secretly investigate Itsuki's background. I need to know what ties he has to the Senju, Uchiha, and Uzumaki clans.]

[Anko Mitarashi: Wouldn't it be better to ask the Third Hokage directly? After all, this involves Wood Release. If I investigate on my own—]

[Tsunade: If there's fallout, I'll take responsibility. I'll come find you when I'm ready, but keep this quiet. If word gets out, I won't show myself.]

[Anko Mitarashi: Tsunade-sama… are you still unwilling to return to the village? Even though Itsuki is here…]

[Tsunade: Wait until you uncover his identity first.]

[Anko Mitarashi: …Fine. You're Tsunade-sama, after all.]

Even through the group chat, Tsunade's presence carried pressure.

While she spoke seriously with Anko, no one else dared interrupt.

Only after they finished did the others appear one by one.

Tenten immediately gushed her admiration—Tsunade was her idol.

Ino followed, showing respect for the legendary Sannin.

Then Tsunade herself started chatting with Karin at length, even hinting at wanting to meet her and her mother in person.

It wasn't surprising. They were distant relatives—Tsunade's grandmother had been from the Uzumaki clan.

Watching this, Itsuki's thoughts stirred.

If I can have Karin become Tsunade's disciple, then naturally she'll end up in Konoha.

Kusagakure wouldn't dare demand her return. With Tsunade backing her, they'd tuck tail and act meek just to avoid trouble.

That way, Itsuki wouldn't have to worry anymore.

And with Karin's natural vitality and talent, she could likely master medical ninjutsu.

She might even surpass Sakura in suitability to inherit Tsunade's mantle.

Meanwhile, Team 7 finally arrived at the sea that separated the Land of Fire and the Land of Waves.

Dazna's contacts were waiting for them. The group boarded a small boat and poled their way across.

Though the two countries were divided by ocean, the distance wasn't far.

Otherwise, no matter how skilled Dazna was, constructing a massive bridge by hand would be impossible.

"Out to sea!" At the shore, Tenzo watched the boat fade into the mist.

He clasped his hands, formed seals, and used Wood Release to create his own small boat. He and one of Itsuki's wooden clones followed at a distance.

Thick fog rose over the waters, making it easy to lose sight of the others.

They couldn't follow too closely—after all, this was a covert mission. Not even Kakashi knew they were tailing the group.

"It's fine," Itsuki's clone reassured with a smile. "My real body already identified the contact. I secretly planted seeds on their boat. You can sense them, Teacher Tenzo."

Tenzo focused and nodded. It was true. He gave Itsuki a thumbs up.

"You're thorough in your work. You're already showing the qualities of an excellent shinobi. At this rate, it won't be long before you can lead missions yourself."

Itsuki bowed his head humbly. "It's all thanks to your guidance, Teacher Tenzo. Without your instruction, I wouldn't have grown this fast."

Though modest, it was true. Tenzo had taught him with complete openness.

Three hours later, they reached the coast of the Land of Waves.

The fog cleared once they entered the country.

"They abandoned the boat here. We can't sense it anymore—we'll have to track them down." Tenzo studied the small craft left on shore.

Luckily, the Land of Waves was just a small island. It wouldn't be too difficult to find a few foreign shinobi.

Tenzo turned to Itsuki. "Where's your real body? Can you sense him? Where should we rendezvous?"

Before Itsuki could answer, the metallic clash of kunai echoed ahead.

Something was happening.

The two exchanged a glance and hurried forward, moving silently.

Soon, they reached a forest blanketed in heavy white mist. From within came the sounds of kunai clashing—fierce battle underway.

"This is… the Hidden Mist Technique," Tenzo muttered, his expression hardening. "Looks like Senior Kakashi and his team walked into an ambush. Judging from the sounds, their opponent's a master. Kakashi himself must be holding him off."

Itsuki feigned alarm. "What do we do? Naruto might be in danger. Shouldn't we rush in?"

"We don't know the situation inside that mist. Going in blind could be disastrous. We'll wait and observe. I trust Senior Kakashi," Tenzo decided firmly.

Itsuki's clone suddenly crumbled into a log, then melted into mud.

Tenzo blinked—only for another Itsuki to step out from the forest a moment later. His real body.

"Teacher Tenzo," Itsuki greeted with a smile. "I sensed the seeds I left behind moving this way, so I rushed here first. Sure enough, I found you."

"So you also saw what happened when Kakashi's team landed?" Tenzo asked.

Itsuki nodded. "It's Zabuza Momochi. A rogue ninja of the Hidden Mist, one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. He wields the Executioner's Blade. Hired by Gato, the shipping magnate, to kill Dazna. That's why he's opposing Naruto and the others."

"Zabuza?" Tenzo's frown deepened.

If Kakashi faced Zabuza alone, Tenzo wouldn't worry.

But with Naruto, Sakura, and Dazna dragging him down, Kakashi would be forced into a difficult, defensive battle.
