There was no suspense in the second battle. Ino already knew her opponent's abilities.
She cleverly used ninja tools to distract him from a distance, then slipped in a genjutsu when he least expected it.
While he was dazed, she used the Mind Body Switch Technique to land a decisive blow.
Without the Nara clan's Shadow Binding Technique, relying on genjutsu to create openings seemed like a smart development path for the Yamanaka clan.
After all, their techniques depended heavily on strong mental strength—training in illusions would only enhance their abilities.
At first, neither Ino nor Yoroi Akado seemed like strong opponents. The audience thought it would be a boring match.
Unexpectedly, while not as dazzling as the first battle, it turned out to be quite exciting.
"How… do you know my abilities?" Yoroi Akado asked unwillingly after losing.
Ino lifted her chin proudly. "The most important thing for a ninja is intelligence gathering. Don't underestimate the Yamanaka clan!"
Her words earned laughter and ridicule in the [Chat Group], but in reality, her victory was secure.
The third battle: Tenten vs. Choji Akimichi!
This fight seemed even more one-sided. Choji had never been much of a fighter.
At this stage, aside from his Human Bullet Tank, his other skills were fairly average. Among the Genin, he was near the bottom.
And against Tenten? Even his Human Bullet Tank would be crushed under her massive hammer.
Physical strength? Against Tenten's weapon barrage, even Kiba wouldn't last!
Spectators grumbled from the stands.
Random Spectator: "Why are all the matches between Konoha ninjas? Can't we see someone from another village?"
Another Spectator: "That's not Konoha's fault. Except for the Sunagakure team, only Konoha made it past the second exam."
Random Spectator: "Huh? Really? I never noticed before. Could this whole thing be rigged?"
Another Spectator: "Not really. Konoha has the home-field advantage, sure, but they also have more candidates and stronger overall talent than most villages."
Some eliminated candidates lingered at the central tower, watching for experience. Even if they couldn't continue, seeing other fights was still valuable.
"Yo."
Kakashi suddenly appeared in the stands, waving lazily.
"Kakashi-sensei!" Sakura immediately panicked. "Where's Sasuke? How is Sasuke-kun?"
"Relax," Kakashi said casually. "He's fine. Just sleeping in the hospital."
After catching up to Sasuke earlier, Kakashi had helped seal the curse mark. Orochimaru had appeared, but left after muttering cryptic words.
Sasuke, weakened by the curse seal and his earlier battles, was now under Anbu surveillance.
Outwardly, he looked normal. But Kakashi couldn't shake his concern. Sasuke's heart was already twisted.
Maybe… teaching him Chidori would help. Giving him a new power might keep him grounded.
That was why, in the original timeline, Kakashi left Naruto to Ebisu while personally training Sasuke. Sasuke's mental state was already unraveling.
Unfortunately, Kakashi's efforts were wasted. That same boy later turned his back on him, insulted him for flaunting the Sharingan, and even tried to kill him with the very ninjutsu he taught.
If Kakashi knew what the future held, would he still treat Sasuke with such sincerity?
Itsuki had also considered keeping Sasuke in Konoha, slowly revealing the truth of the Uchiha massacre to him.
But in the end, he abandoned the thought.
The reincarnation of Indra was destined for revenge. Without reconciliation with Ashura's reincarnate, he could never find peace.
Even if stopped now, something else would push him down that path.
Unless Itsuki could erase Indra and Ashura's chakra entirely, Sasuke's fate was unchangeable.
And Itsuki saw no reason to waste effort on such a thankless task.
At that moment, the fourth match was displayed on the electronic board:
Temari vs. Senju Itsuki!
"The next round begins! The two names on the board, step forward!" Gekkō Hayate announced.
"Oh? My turn already?" Itsuki stretched lazily, looking half-asleep.
At once, the atmosphere shifted.
Almost everyone believed Gaara was the most dangerous, but without knowing his background, most still saw Itsuki as the strongest candidate here.
Now that he was finally stepping onto the field, all eyes lit up.
"Perfect timing," Kakashi muttered with interest.
"Itsuki! Don't lose to the Sand ninja!" Naruto shouted, pumping his fist.
Sakura, who was about to cheer as well, quickly shrank back in embarrassment.
She really didn't want to be seen as Naruto's teammate right now.
"Itsuki-kun, do your best!" Karin gestured energetically.
Yakumo smirked. "You're not going to go easy on her just because she's a girl, are you?"
Itsuki grinned. "Of course not! But don't worry, I'm not cruel enough to ruin a beautiful woman. Still… I do want to make it to the third exam. If you all advance and I get eliminated, that'd be far too embarrassing."
He waved to his supporters, then flashed onto the battlefield.
"Hmph… my opponent is actually him? Guess this is the end." Temari spat lightly, snapping open her giant iron fan.
With a graceful leap, she landed on the airflow it created and glided down into the arena.
"Actually, there's another way. Try a beauty trap. I bet he'd walk into it willingly," Kankuro teased.
Temari almost lost her balance mid-air. She shot him a deadly glare before focusing back on the fight.
"Senju Itsuki…" Neji murmured, eyes narrowing.
"Itsuki! Finally! I want to see what kind of person he really is!" Rock Lee's eyes shone with excitement.
He had never seen Itsuki fight, but everyone called him a prodigy.
Lee suddenly remembered something. "Neji, what did you see with your Byakugan that day at school?"
Neji was silent for a long moment before finally sighing. "The three of them… are all monsters."
"Monsters?!" Lee gaped.
His words caught the attention of nearby genin and jonin alike.
But Neji clearly didn't want to explain further. "Just watch. The results are already decided. All three members of Itsuki's team will win easily, without even struggling."
Lee swallowed. "And… what if you had to fight one of them?"
Neji's silence was telling. At last, he shook his head. "Even against the two women, I don't have much confidence. My chances of losing are higher."
He didn't even bother to mention Itsuki. Against him, Neji had no confidence at all.
Those who knew Neji's strength were shocked.
Could Itsuki really be that strong?
