The Wind-Riding Skyhawk glided through the starry night, its vast wings slicing the air as Magic City sparkled beneath them.
"I never realized how beautiful the night view of Magic City is," Ye Xinxia said softly, her eyes reflecting the dazzling lights below.
"If it's beautiful, then take a good look. We can go back later," Song Jie replied casually.
Ye Xinxia didn't respond, only lowering her gaze toward the hand supporting her slender waist. She knew he was only making sure she didn't fall, yet the closeness made her heart flutter.
"Let's go back," she said gently, her cheeks flushed.
"Alright, tell me where your home is," Song Jie said. "I'll have the Wind-Riding Skyhawk take us there."
Ye Xinxia nodded and pointed out the direction.
Soon, the Skyhawk descended outside her residence. Song Jie got down first and reached up to help her off the beast's back—
—but suddenly, the Wind-Riding Skyhawk shook its wings unexpectedly!
Caught off guard, Ye Xinxia lost her balance and fell forward—straight into Song Jie's arms.
"Whoa—"
Song Jie instinctively caught her, but their combined weight made them both tumble to the ground!
Ye Xinxia ended up on top of him, her hands pressing weakly against the ground as she tried to rise. But her legs… wouldn't obey.
"Xinxia, don't move yet. I'll help you up," Song Jie said quickly, feeling the heat rise to his face.
The two were so close their breaths almost mingled, their eyes meeting for a brief, burning moment.
Ye Xinxia's face turned crimson. "Mm…" She nodded faintly.
Song Jie gently helped her sit to the side before standing and carefully placing her back into her wheelchair.
"You didn't get hurt, right?" he asked.
Ye Xinxia shook her head, unable to meet his gaze.
Just then, Mo Fan appeared, carrying a bag of groceries.
"You two are back?" Mo Fan blinked. "Brother Jie, thanks for bringing Xinxia home."
"You're welcome," Song Jie replied. "I'll head back first."
Mo Fan waved. "Got it!"
He turned toward Ye Xinxia, whose face was still pink.
"Xinxia, did you drink or something? Why's your face so red?" he asked suspiciously.
"Huh? I-it must be the heat," Ye Xinxia stammered.
"It's hot outside, alright. Let's go enjoy the air conditioning!" Mo Fan said cheerfully as he pushed her wheelchair home.
Ye Xinxia lowered her head, her heart pounding wildly. It seems… I touched something just now…
Mingzhu Academy required freshmen to live on campus for their first semester, so Song Jie could only return to the dorms.
Inside, Mu Lei sat cross-legged, a Nebula Magic Tool glowing faintly in his hands.
"You're back?"
Song Jie nodded.
Mu Lei grinned. "After the Three-Step Pagoda, your Summoning Element reached the Intermediate level too?"
"Yeah."
Mu Lei gave a bitter laugh. "Guess I'd better work harder, or I'll never catch up."
"Keep at it," Song Jie encouraged with a smile.
He then sat on his bed and began practicing star dust control.
Although his Summoning Element had reached the Intermediate level, he still couldn't perform Contract Summoning—meaning if he met a powerful beast, he couldn't form a contract yet.
He refused to let that happen.
Fortunately, he had gathered plenty of Star Trace Crystals from the Beast-Fighting Competition—materials that could rapidly enhance control over star dust.
However, they were expensive—50,000 yuan each. For ordinary mages, buying one or two was already a luxury. But aristocratic families could afford to buy them in bulk to fast-track an Intermediate Mage.
Song Jie had already asked Dean Xiao to prepare a set of Star Traces for his Summoning Element, and they were ready for use.
"Let's begin," Song Jie said confidently.
Two months passed in the blink of an eye.
With the foundation of his Light Element and the help of the Star Traces, Song Jie successfully mastered Intermediate Summoning Magic!
During this time, both of his Light Element abilities underwent extraordinary evolutions:
Light Element – Intermediate Level One:
Light Blessing · Sacred Shield → Dual Sacred Shield → Elemental Sacred Shield.
Light Element – Intermediate Level Two:
Wall of Light → Wall of Light Charge.
He had tested the Elemental Sacred Shield himself—it could completely nullify magic below the High-level tier.
As for Wall of Light Charge, it did exactly what its name implied—unlike ordinary Walls of Light used for defense, his version could launch forward, smashing into enemies by surprise!
One evening, Mu Lei stretched lazily on his bed. "Finally, the semester's over."
They had spent most of it cultivating—tedious but rewarding.
"Next semester we can move out," he said. "You find a place yet?"
"Yeah, just outside the academy."
"Nice."
After chatting for a while, Song Jie opened his phone and texted Tang Yue:
[Song Jie: Teacher Tang Yue, you've already taken advantage of me. When are you going to give me my Spirit Seed and advancement package?]
Although his Wind-Riding Skyhawk hadn't advanced yet, it was close—and he needed to prepare in advance.
Soon, Tang Yue replied:
[Tang Yue: The materials you asked for are ready. Go to the Azure Sky Hunter Agency in Magic City.]
"Azure Sky Hunter Agency…" Song Jie murmured.
That was where Old Man Bao and Lingling worked.
He grinned and sent back:
[Song Jie: Thank you, rich lady, for the advancement package!]
Her reply came instantly:
[Tang Yue: You rascal. Winter break's coming—want some field experience?]
[Song Jie: Teacher Tang Yue, I still can't find materials for my other summoned beast. Maybe you could…]
He added a teasing emoji at the end.
Tang Yue's response was cold and swift:
[Tang Yue: Scram!]
Song Jie laughed to himself, slipped his phone into his pocket, and stood up.
It was time to pay the Azure Sky Hunter Agency a visit.
After submitting his report, he hailed a taxi and soon arrived at a quiet alley. A wooden signboard swung slightly in the breeze—"Azure Sky Hunter Agency."
He pushed open the door.
Inside, a small figure sat behind the counter—a little loli with twin ponytails, dangling her short legs off the chair as she munched on snacks.
She looked up, her bright eyes locking onto him.
"Welcome to the Azure Sky Hunter Agency!" she said cheerfully, her voice crisp and cute.
