Mu Nujiao was an astute person. She felt that something was definitely off about this so-called "bet."
Gambling by guessing the content of the Main Campus assessment? There was no way anyone could win that!
Yet Song Jie looked completely confident, even asking her to join in.
Mu Nujiao refused his invitation and glanced at Ai Tutu, who was still brimming with excitement. She couldn't help but sigh softly.
Something about this reeked of a trap.
Ai Tutu tugged on Mu Nujiao's sleeve. "Sister Mu, hurry up! I can't wait to find out what the Main Campus assessment will be!"
Song Jie smiled faintly. He, too, was eager to get his greatsword soon.
Adding a maid outfit into the mix wouldn't be too much, right?
He chuckled inwardly.
Since the Black Vatican's branch in Modu had already been wiped out, the upcoming Main Campus assessment would likely deviate from the original course of events.
This also meant that Xu Zhaoting wouldn't be killed by Mu Yu'ang and transformed into a Black Beast Demon during the assessment.
Relaxing on the sofa, Song Jie grabbed a bunch of grapes and popped one into his mouth.
Two days ago, he had received a transformation opportunity—this time, it was for his mid-tier second-level Light Blessing · Wall.
[Light Blessing · Wall → Light Blessing · Wall Crash → Light Blessing · Wall Enhance → Light Blessing · Wall Rebound → Light Blessing · Wall Cut (New)]
"Wall Cut," as the name implied, allowed him to manipulate the wall to attack and cut enemies!
As long as the wall wasn't destroyed or the caster wasn't interrupted, he could continue to control it indefinitely.
A novel and extremely practical skill!
Still, Song Jie didn't get too excited. He already possessed quite a few unique skills.
"I wonder how things are going with the Judgmental Court," he murmured. "It'd be great if they could speed things up."
He was eagerly waiting for his Galaxy Vein to break through—once that happened, he would become a high-tier mage!
Just then, his phone began to ring. He glanced at the screen—Tang Yue.
"Teacher Tang Yue," he greeted. "Has the Judgmental Court transferred the funds early?"
"It's not about that," Tang Yue replied.
"Ah? My signal's bad here—I can't hear you clearly!" Song Jie said, pretending.
He already knew that if Tang Yue was calling him, she had something troublesome to ask.
Tang Yue chuckled helplessly. "Don't try to play dumb, kid. I have something I need your help with."
"Ah? The signal's cutting out again, Teacher Tang Yue!" Song Jie continued his act.
Tang Yue sighed. "If you help me handle this matter, I'll personally see to it that your application gets fast-tracked. Ten days, at most."
"The signal suddenly cleared up—please continue, Teacher Tang Yue," Song Jie said smoothly.
Tang Yue rolled her eyes on the other end of the line. "Do you have a summoned beast that can control demons?"
"Yes." Song Jie was surprised she knew about Little Black.
It must have been the last incident with the exchange students—word must've spread.
Tang Yue's tone carried a mix of curiosity and anticipation. "Can it control people too?"
"Yes," Song Jie replied.
"Then are you free to come to the Judgmental Court right now?"
"I'll be there immediately."
After hanging up, Song Jie guessed that something serious must've happened at the Court.
What did they need Little Black for this time? Could it be to deal with the Black Vatican again?
Without delay, Song Jie hailed a taxi and called Little Black out.
"Do well this time," he said with a grin, "and maybe we'll finally get those cultivation resources covered."
"Meow~~!!"
Little Black nodded confidently.
Ten minutes later, Song Jie arrived at the Judgmental Court with the little black cat perched on his shoulder. Tang Yue was already waiting at the entrance.
"You're here," she said, her gaze falling immediately on Little Black.
"Teacher Tang Yue, you called me because of the captured suspects, right?" Song Jie asked directly.
"Yes. Their mouths are too tight—especially that deacon." Tang Yue rubbed her temples.
"Let's take a look first. I'm not sure if I can help," Song Jie replied.
"Alright."
The two entered the interrogation room, where a Black Vatican priest in dark robes sat restrained.
"Let your summoned beast try," Tang Yue said.
Song Jie nodded to Little Black, who immediately leapt into the priest's shadow.
The black-robed man stiffened as Little Black's form vanished into the darkness beneath him.
Moments later, a subtle change flickered in the priest's eyes.
Song Jie turned to Tang Yue. "It should be working now. You can ask."
Tang Yue nodded. "What's your name, where do you live, and how many people are in your family?"
"My name is Luo Min. I live by the ferry, and there are four people in my family," the man replied flatly.
Tang Yue compared the answers with the file in her hand—they matched perfectly.
She continued, "What's your sister's boyfriend's name?"
"I don't know," the priest answered without hesitation.
Tang Yue smiled faintly. His reaction was too natural to be faked—besides, the record stated that his sister indeed didn't have a boyfriend.
It worked.
"What's the name of the deacon in charge of you?" she asked.
"We only know him by his codename—Black Lizard."
"How many strongholds does the Black Vatican have in Modu?" she pressed, jotting notes down as she went.
Song Jie stood nearby, watching silently—until an idea suddenly struck him.
Since Little Black could control people, he could offer this as a paid service to the Judgmental Court!
After all, he wasn't a member of their organization. He had a sense of justice, sure, but that didn't mean he'd work for free.
A smile tugged at his lips. He had just discovered a new way to make money.
Tang Yue soon said, "Alright, Song Jie, you can call your summoned beast back."
Song Jie nodded and gave Little Black a subtle look.
The little cat immediately released control and staggered weakly out of the priest's shadow, collapsing onto the ground.
"Little Black Cat! What's wrong with you?" Song Jie rushed forward and scooped it up.
Tang Yue quickly stepped over, concern on her face. "Is it alright? Should I call for a Healing Mage?"
"It's fine," Song Jie said. "It probably just exhausted too much energy earlier."
"Then let it rest," Tang Yue replied, though she had wanted to test it on another suspect.
"It's had this happen before after possessing demons," Song Jie added casually. "If there's anything that could help it recover faster, that'd be great."
Tang Yue gave him a knowing look and smiled. "You really don't want to lose out, do you?"
"Teacher Tang Yue," Song Jie said earnestly, "it's not easy supporting a family, you know…"
He almost summoned Little Green and the Wind Riding Sky Eagle right then just to show her their "family of four."
