Uria, Lord of Searing Flames, revived!
"Still clinging on like a ghost, are you? Sacred Beast," Eraser said. But his tone was openly contemptuous—clearly, as a lofty Wicked God, he didn't think much of a Sacred Beast at this level.
Uria let out an indignant roar, but didn't dare roar too loudly. It sounded… a little wronged.
"Uria's effect," Kira said. "Scan and destroy all Trap Cards in my opponent's backrow.
Trap Destruction!"
Once again Uria unleashed its power, transparent shockwaves bursting from its mouth. The two set cards responded—trembling faintly, both clearly Traps.
"As expected," Eraser snorted, then raised his hand.
"Then I chain to Uria's effect—Trap Card Back to the Front! Special Summon a monster from my Graveyard in Defense Position!"
Kira: "Same old trick?"
"Tremble, mortal!" Eraser laughed wildly. "Once again, I summon myself from the Graveyard—
—The Wicked Eraser, descend!"
The ground began to shake. The sky dimmed. Thunder rolled down, as if that ultimate horror were awakening again.
Even if Kira didn't have many cards on the field this time—meaning Eraser's ATK wouldn't be high—it still formed an overwhelming defensive wall. Because no matter how Eraser was defeated, the moment it fell, its effect would trigger and send all cards on the field to the Graveyard.
And even if no one did anything, at the End Phase the Special Summoned god would automatically be sent to the Graveyard—still triggering the "end of all things." That would force Kira to face the opponent's next turn with an empty field again.
But this time, Kira had an answer.
"One of the cards I discarded with Graceful Charity was the monster Makyura the Destructor." Kira said. "In the turn this card is discarded, I can activate Trap Cards from my hand."
Kira played the Trap from his hand.
"Trap Card: Trap Stun!
Until the end of this turn, all Trap Cards on the field except this card are negated."
A trap-sealing domain erupted—an invisible binding force instantly suppressing the Trap power Eraser had activated. The thunderclouds overhead dimmed, and the dark vortex of Eraser's revival began to dissipate.
"So you prepared an answer to my Eraser revival combo," Eraser chuckled. "But unfortunately, my tactics are still superior! I activate my second set card!
Trap Card Back to the Front!"
"Oh?" Kira said. "Two copies of the same Trap?"
"Exactly!"
Eraser roared with laughter.
"The second Back to the Front chains to your Trap Stun, so it resolves before Trap Stun takes effect.
From the Graveyard, I revive myself once again—
The Wicked Eraser, descend!"
Endless darkness—like the ultimate curse and hatred of the world—gathered and formed that supreme evil shape.
The Wicked Eraser—summoned again!
[The Wicked Eraser, DEF ?]
"So it still got summoned…" Kira murmured.
"Hahahaha! A mere Sacred Beast—how could it contend with an Wicked God?" Eraser sneered. "Well? Even now, will you still attack?"
Indeed, even though Uria's ATK now exceeded the opponent's, attacking would only mean mutual destruction. Even if Eraser died, it would drag Uria down with it.
And even if Kira summoned new monsters, it wouldn't matter—nothing could get past Eraser's wall. Besides, this turn Uria had revived via its own effect; if Kira summoned any other monster, Uria's self-restriction would prevent it from attacking anyway.
He could first use Uria to destroy Eraser, then summon a new monster afterward—but by then the Battle Phase would be over, and no meaningful damage could be dealt that turn.
Kira slowly drew a card from his hand.
"No choice. I'll use this, then." He suddenly smiled strangely. "Mr. Sartorius—lend me your power again, just a little."
Eraser: "?"
What's this guy muttering about now?
"I activate the Field Spell—Light Barrier!"
A new Field was inserted into the Duel Disk. A pillar of white light erupted skyward as a barrier rapidly spread beneath both duelists' feet, a pure white domain enveloping the entire arena!
Eraser frowned. "What?"
"Light Barrier is the dedicated Field for Arcana Force," Kira said with a smile. "Within Light Barrier, only Arcana Force monsters can use their monster effects. All other monsters' effects on the field are negated." (Anime effect)
Eraser: "Oh?"
"Even if one side has a god and the other side has a demon," Kira said, "a god can still be affected by a Spell's effect for this turn—and a Sacred Beast must also accept the effect of a Spell activated this turn.
Therefore, only for this turn, both Uria's and Eraser's monster effects are negated."
Eraser: "We both gained our ATK and DEF through monster effects. If those are negated…"
[Uria, Lord of Searing Flames, ATK 0]
[The Wicked Eraser, DEF 0]
"But so what?" Eraser scoffed. "The barrier only stops monster effects from being activated on the field. Once I'm sent to the Graveyard, the end-of-all-things ability will still activate."
True. Eraser's most crucial ability activated in the Graveyard; Light Barrier couldn't restrict that. The one severely limited by the barrier was Uria.
Kira said calmly, "Next, I activate the Equip Spell Premature Burial. I pay 800 Life Points to revive a monster from my Graveyard in Attack Position."
[Kira, LP 3500 → LP 2700]
"I revive the other card I discarded with Graceful Charity.
The Arcana that manipulates destiny, that surpasses even time itself—
—Arcana Force XXI—The World!"
[Arcana Force XXI—The World, ATK 3100]
"Arcana Force?" Eraser sneered. "So it's a card that once housed a certain power of light. But now it's nothing more than an empty shell with a few leftover fragments. And even if it weren't fragments, it'd still be nothing to fear.
You think something like that can handle me?"
"Oh?" Kira said. "You think it can't?"
He then played another card from his hand.
"Quick-Play Spell—Book of Moon!"
A massive book appeared on the field, its cover a dim pale blue marked with a crescent moon sigil. The mysterious pages slowly turned, and a new moon rose above it.
That strange power poured forth, enveloping the Wicked God—already dulled in color under Light Barrier's restraint.
"Quick-Play Spell Book of Moon—flip a monster on the field face-down.
I set The Wicked Eraser face-down."
