Elena's POV
I left Adrian alone in the study. It was clear he was troubled by more than just 'The Veil' activities. His lack of response was painful, and the silence during the conversation felt oppressive.
I have discovered that there are issues even when people choose to remain silent for the sake of harmony. Silence only serves to widen the gap between us when we don't express our emotions.
I remember the last time when I chose silence and distance over a confrontation, believing it would keep the peace between Adrian and me.
Instead, the unspoken words built a wall between us, growing taller with each day.
It was like the moment after a door slams shut and you realize it wasn't just wood that closed, but access to our thoughts. It was agonizing, and I am not willing to go through that again.
I walked out into the corridor and went to the garden to watch the morning sun for a while before heading back to my small study for my work.
