Chapter 92 - Hearts in Conflict (I): Fault Lines

I thought that was all, but all through the week, I was plagued with visions; I could not stay at home, so I spent more time in the office.

They came now like whispers sliding under doors, like reflections caught in glass when you weren't looking directly. There were no fires or gory blood scenes, just a bewildering storm of emotions that felt like being caught in a relentless tide.

Fear crept in quietly, wrapping itself around my thoughts like a dense fog, obscuring any clarity.

Doubt spread like ink in water, darkening every hopeful possibility. It was as if my mind were a battlefield, the anxiety gnawing at my nerves.

This torment of mental pain became my constant companion, leaving me feeling vulnerable and stripped of any sense of peace.

Today, I had to meet with Max and check with the security detail on our ongoing investigations, so I could not leave before dawn.
