Chapter 28 - Qian Renxue's Letter

Time slipped by quietly, marked by the daily grind of grueling training.

A month passed in the blink of an eye.

Little Chuan had finally adjusted to the training regimen of running a lap around Kitsuchi Road while wearing a vest that weighed several hundred pounds. He'd gone from being completely exhausted after the first lap to now being able to complete it with ease. His progress was astonishing!

The next phase of his training would inevitably involve gradually increasing the intensity. He would slowly increase the number of laps he ran, from one to two, then three… until he reached a certain level of proficiency. Only then would he switch to a heavier vest.

On this particular day, Little Chuan was granted a rare day off.

After all, training needed to be balanced. Even if his body could endure the daily workouts, his mind would eventually grow weary. Therefore, it was necessary to relax, to loosen the tension in his mind. Proper rest was essential.

Early in the morning, after finishing his ablutions, Little Chuan opened his door, intending to spend his day off exploring Martial Soul City. But as soon as he opened the door, he found a servant waiting patiently. The servant held a letter, and on the envelope were four large characters: For Little Chuan.

Little Chuan was taken aback at first, then his face lit up with delight as he looked at the letter, which was signed by Qian Renxue. "Sister Xue has sent me a letter again," he said, grabbing the envelope and closing the door behind him.

In the room.

Xiao Chuan held the envelope in his hand and went to the desk by the window. He pulled out the chair and sat down, then eagerly opened the envelope, took out a piece of paper filled with delicate handwriting, and began to read it quietly.

The content of the letter was mostly Qian Renxue venting her frustrations, saying that her life as a spy for the Heaven Dou Empire, pretending to be the Crown Prince, was very boring, along with some daily trivialities. She also asked him if he missed his sister.

Xiao Chuan read it very carefully, savoring the emotions between the lines. A faint smile appeared on his face, and under the morning sunlight outside the window, he looked so beautiful that it seemed he shouldn't belong to the human world...

Qian Renxue was about ten years older than him. When he was still a baby, she often came to play with him and frolic with him. Originally, if there were no accidents, the two of them should have been able to grow up together and then become a pair of childhood sweethearts, innocent and carefree.

It was a pity that when he was two years old, Qian Renxue, in order to prove herself to the Pope and gain her mother's approval, volunteered to go to the Heaven Dou Empire as a spy. She first schemed to kill Xue Qinghe, the eldest prince of Heaven Dou, and then used a Soul Bone Skill to disguise herself as him, taking his place!

Up until now, she had been disguised as the Crown Prince Xue Qinghe and had been a spy there for four years.

During these four years, Qian Renxue would return to the Martial Soul Hall about every three or four months, resting for two or three days each time before having to return to the Heaven Dou Empire. After all, the identity she was impersonating could not disappear for too long, or it would be easy for others to see through it and all her efforts would be in vain.

As for writing letters, there was no such restriction; she could write whenever she wanted. Then, she would have someone bring them back and deliver them to him.

Sometimes, Qian Renxue would send over twenty letters in a month; other times, when she was busy, she'd only send a letter every two or three months. She'd talk to him about her recent situation, confiding her worries. Xiao Chuan would basically reply to each letter, sharing his own current situation and writing down his thoughts.

The two of them maintained this correspondence, keeping each other informed about their lives. Their feelings didn't diminish at all due to the distance. In fact, because of the distance, a certain beauty arose, and since some things were difficult to say in person, they were easier to express in writing. Qian Renxue, unknowingly, subconsciously developed a slight dependence on Xiao Chuan; her feelings for him were changing subtly.

Over these years, the relationship between the two not only didn't weaken due to their separation, but instead became even more intimate than before.

After carefully reading the contents of Qian Renxue's new letter, Xiao Chuan carefully folded the paper again and put it back in the envelope. Then, he took a brocade box from his Storage Soul Tool and placed it on the table, opening it to reveal a large stack of envelopes inside. These were all of Qian Renxue's letters over the years, which he had kept here.

He placed the new letter in the brocade box, closed the lid, and put it back in the Soul Tool. Xiao Chuan pulled open the drawer under his desk and took out a brand-new piece of paper. Then, he reached towards a row of neatly hanging brushes on the desk, finally selecting a thin, long one.

Because his hands were too small, holding a brush that was too big was awkward, and the resulting writing wouldn't look good.

Dipping the tip of the brush into the ink he had already ground and prepared, Xiao Chuan held the brush, furrowed his brows in thought for a moment, and then began to write gently on the white paper:

[——To the most adorable, beautiful, gentle, and kind Sister Xue in the world.] ---

Summer flowers bloom enchantingly, but they're not as beautiful as you; the summer sun is bright and boundless, yet it can't compare to your warmth; summer rain is cool and lingering, but it can't match a gentle kiss on your lips. Filled with longing, when will we meet?

Even the most beautiful painter cannot depict your beauty; even the most beautiful poem cannot express my deep love for you. My beloved girl, I am willing to become an angel, and forever watch over you.

Two months have passed since you last returned. These short sixty days, for me, have been as long as sixty years. I finally understand what the ancients meant when they said, "One day apart feels like three autumns."

I think of you in the most beautiful nights, I miss you in the deepest breaths, I feel you at the most enjoyable times, and I know that when I'm most disheartened, you being in this world is enough.

My longing for you surges every day like the tide, making me sleepless countless nights. Whether it's sunny, cloudy, or rainy, a day I can see you is a bright day; whether it's yesterday, today, or tomorrow, a day I can be with you is a beautiful day.

I miss our carefree times so much. Whether you are by my side or at the edge of the sky, knowing there is a you in a corner of the world makes the whole world feel gentle and peaceful.

I want so much to go to the city where you are, to feel the wind you feel, to breathe the air you breathe, to walk the roads you walk, to see the scenery you live among, to feel the warmth around you, to hug you… (omitting several sickeningly sweet words) …Knowing you is the luck of my lifetime; your kindness always moves me to tears; so, I have made this most important decision: to spend all the time of my life with you!"

After spending about an hour crafting the words, racking his brains, and finally concocting a love letter full of cheesy lines, Little Chuan nodded in satisfaction. Then he read it again from the beginning, and immediately disgusted himself.

"Ugh~This is too cheesy."

Little Chuan rubbed his arms, goosebumps erupting across his skin. Even though he'd written the letter himself, he was still disgusted by it. But there was no help for it; girls loved this kind of thing. They loved sweet talk.

In his own opinion, the letter was nauseatingly sappy, but that might not be the case for the girls.

He folded the painstakingly written letter and placed it inside a blank envelope. Then, he picked up his pen and wrote four large characters on the front of the envelope: Sister Xue, to be opened with love!

And just like that, the letter was done.

Little Chuan held the sealed letter and walked to the door, opening it. The messenger who had delivered the previous letter was still standing there, head bowed, waiting patiently. Every time a letter was delivered, Little Chuan would reply with one shortly after. The messenger had become experienced, so he simply waited at the door.

"Deliver this letter to Sister Xue," he said, handing over the letter.

"Yes."

The messenger respectfully received the letter with both hands, then bowed. Four soul rings appeared around him, and three of them lit up. With a flash, he disappeared from sight.

But this wasn't teleportation, just an illusion created by his incredible speed.

Little Chuan remembered that this person's martial soul wasn't very powerful in combat, but he was excellent at delivering messages. He had heard that the person was from the Agile Clan, but because of a martial soul mutation, he was ostracized. Eventually, he joined the Martial Soul Hall.
