"What is this...?" Seer could only let out a low mutter that faded off toward the end of her breath.
Before her, the terrible abomination that had seemed world-ending in its might was screaming and wailing so loudly that the sound felt like it was tearing at her very sanity.
Seer had gone numb from trying to reconcile this current image with the same terrifying image from literally seconds ago. She lay there on the ground, her fingers digging into the dirt as she watched the predator become the prey.
Was this the same abomination that had terrified her so thoroughly? Was this the same creature that filled her with a certain sense of inevitable death when it first crawled out of the chasm? Was this the same abomination that seemed so undefeatable and so absolute to her eyes?
Because what she saw right now was none of that. The power dynamic of the battlefield had shifted so rapidly that it felt thoroughly jarring.
