I didn't even realize how tone-deaf what I said sounded until Krystal threw it back in my face.
She's right.
It won't matter if Lolo and I have her back. How my father, my aunt, and nonna see her will change.
I feel like Aunt Francesca especially will judge her the most.
She's been married and divorced three times to unfaithful partners in the past, so she'll most definitely take it to heart if the truth ever comes out.
A quiet breath leaves me as I walk down the hallway, my grip tightening around the briefcase in my hand.

I push the door open and step inside.
Papà and Angelo are already there.
Papà is seated behind his desk with his glasses resting low on his nose, his full attention on his laptop screen.
Angelo is seated across from him. He glances at me when I walk in.
