Chapter 10 - The Shadow’s First Follower

Majinization isn't exactly rare… but successful Majinization? Now that's another story.

Both magical and non-magical beings can only withstand so many magicules before their bodies give out. Once that threshold is crossed, they either die instantly or… those who don't often mutate into grotesque creatures driven purely by instinct, stripped of reason or identity. Even then, they don't last long.

It's exceedingly rare for a true Majin to be born from a non-magical race. Almost unheard of, actually.

Hinata stared silently at the blob-like creature in front of her. It writhed and twitched, its mass bubbling like molten flesh. The person didn't died from magicule overload but had instead turned into a mutant.

Usually, by this point, there's nothing left to save.

Up until now, there have been no recorded cases of a mutant successfully completing the transformation and becoming a true Majin. Even if such an event ever occurred, it was never made public knowledge. Most of these unfortunate beings are killed the moment their transformation begins, or they are branded as "cursed" once their bodies start to mutate.

But that was exactly what was happening before Hinata's eyes.

As her sword continued absorbing the excess magicules, the creature's grotesque form began to shrink. Slowly, unnervingly, the lumps of flesh melted away, leaving faint traces of structure beneath—arms, legs… a human shape?

She blinked once. Then twice. "…Wait."

Her body tensed, instincts screaming at her to be cautious, but curiosity held her still. She activated Analytical Appraisal, her mind racing to comprehend the process. It became clear that the mutation had occurred due to an excess of magicules during Majinization. As the sword drew out the surplus energy, the subject's body stabilised.

For a moment, she just stood there, watching as the sword hummed and the creature's shape refined.

And once the excess magicules were removed, the creature began returning to what it was meant to be.

"A Majin…" Hinata breathed out softly.

As the creature's body continued to stabilise, the grotesque mass of flesh slowly reshaped into something recognisable—a humanoid form. Limbs reformed, skin regained colour, and faint traces of beauty began to emerge beneath the fading corruption.

Hinata's eyes widened. She took a hesitant step forward, her breath catching in her throat as recognition struck.

"This can't be…" she murmured softly, disbelief lacing her voice.

The figure lying before her was unmistakable now. Long, tangled strands of blonde hair, delicate pointed ears, and faint traces of once-refined features.

There was no mistaking it. The signs of elven heritage were clear.

Hinata's lips parted as she was about to whisper the name that surfaced unbidden in her mind, then she stopped, realising what that impulse could trigger.

The girl in front of her was no longer an elf. She was a Majin, a being born of magicules. And Majins could receive names—a blessing, a contract, and a curse all in one.

Hinata hadn't planned to name anyone, but magicules were sensitive, responding instinctively to will and emotion. Simply speaking a name with intent could be enough. The very thought of it made her pause, her instincts screaming caution.

If she named this girl, she could feel the consequence even before it happened. The sheer amount of magicules radiating from the newly-formed Majin was close to her own. Naming her now would drain Hinata completely.

Without a True Dragon as a backup battery or an AI-type skill to regulate her output, the backlash could be fatal. At best, she might recover the lost magicules. At worst, she would lose a large portion permanently, maybe even die outright.

So she swallowed the name that trembled on her tongue, forcing her voice silent and her emotions steady.

"But there's no doubt she's…"Hinata murmured, her mind shifting into overdrive under Thought Acceleration. Recognition flashed across her face like lightning.

Now that I think about it, this kingdom is called Midgar. And the baron of this land—his surname is Kagenou.

Her eyes widened slightly as the pieces snapped together.

This wasn't just the Tensura world. The name Kagenou only meant one thing.

The Eminence in Shadow.

A fusion world. A cross-dimensional blend.

She drew in a slow breath, her analytical instincts stirring. "Does that mean there are other anime worlds mixed into this one as well?"

The thought sent a quiet thrill through her, a mix of curiosity and unease. If two worlds could merge seamlessly like this, who knew how many more were connected beneath the surface?

So many questions flooded her mind, each one more pressing than the last. But she forced herself to push them down. Now was not the time.

Her attention returned to the girl before her—lying naked, unconscious, and breathing faintly.

Hinata exhaled softly and crouched down beside her. "You've been through enough," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.

She reached into her spatial storage, retrieving a robe. With gentle care, she draped it over the girl's body, making sure she was covered before lifting her into her arms.

Hinata POV

"Are you sure?" I asked again, crossing my arms as I studied the blond elf girl who met my gaze without hesitation. Even after I told her she was free to leave, she insisted on following me—no, serving me. Her exact words. I didn't dislike the idea of having followers, but I needed to be certain.

"Yes, I'm sure," she said quietly, yet her voice carried conviction. "My parents already gave their lives for me. I have no one else. Everyone I once knew looked at me with disgust. My life was supposed to end as a monster but you saved me. I want to repay you with the life you saved."

I let out a soft sigh, studying her expression.

…She's serious.

She used to live in a nearby village with her father. From what she told me, he was killed the moment the villagers realised she was undergoing majinization. Typical. Fear disguised as righteousness.

Most of the time, the transformation needed a catalyst, like exposure to high concentrations of magicules or a ritual. But sometimes, it happened naturally. Even in low-magicule areas, certain people experienced spontaneous majinization.

Those cases were rare, and they usually shared one thing in common—strong bloodlines. Descendants of powerful magical beings, carrying dormant potential that could one day awaken. When it did, the result was often tragic.

Shizune had once told me about this. She hadn't sugar-coated a thing. People who underwent natural majinization were almost always killed under the guise of "purification." The masses, ignorant and fearful, believed they were possessed by demons. And those who knew better simply turned away. After all, there was no known cure, no method to reverse the transformation. In their eyes, a swift death was mercy.

"Good. I hope you don't regret your choice," I said quietly, though part of me was speaking to myself as much as to her.

Taking her in meant taking on a liability, one that might come back to bite me. But at the same time, she had potential. Real potential. My original plan had been simple: rely only on my gacha summons. No unnecessary attachments, no unpredictable variables. Yet her appearance had shifted something in that plan.

I glanced at the girl again. She was still kneeling, her posture respectful, eyes calm yet burning with gratitude.

I exhaled slowly. Looks like fate rolled another critical hit.

Still, the risk wasn't small. I needed to confirm whether the Cult of Diablo existed in this version of the world. The presence of Eminence in Shadow elements already meant the cosmology was blending. More options meant more possibilities, but also more threats.

And if the Cult existed here too, that complicated things. A lot.

I could, in theory, run, head to another country with weaker influence, stay under the radar. But running only bought time, not safety.

At the end of the day, constant avoidance wasn't survival. It was slow death.

No, it was better to adapt. To move forward. To stop being passive and start taking control of the board.

"Welcome to Shadow Garden."

So how was the concept? I thought the mana overload in eminence in shadow and maginization are quite similar with former being later unsuccessful stage.

Also suggest some other worlds for mashup
