Cherreads

Chapter 35 - Chapter 35

Ginger (Amelia Woods)

After the memory ended, Ginger looked at the toolbox in her hand again and found that the item description on it had changed.

[Amelia's Portable Toolbox]

[Type: Uncommon Criminal Evidence]

[Special Effect: Using the toolbox to dismantle the execution chairs in the Military Factory, the dismantling speed will gradually slow down as the number of dismantled chairs increases.]

[Weight: 30]

[Can it be taken out of the scene: No]

[Note: A box full of parts and tools, only skilled workers can use it well.]

[Usage Impact: Makes a loud noise.]

Hank (Freddy Riley)

Hard Candy Hank took the flashlight. But the memory unlock phenomenon did not occur; he was not the owner of the flashlight. Then, the young man handed the flashlight to his girlfriend next to him and took the folded "Military Factory Map" from Caleb.

Immediately, he entered a memory scene:

In the memory, he became a lawyer named 'Freddy Riley'. In an office in the Military Factory, Riley threw a thick stack of contracts in front of a dejected man.

"According to investigations, your factory has been found to be producing contraband, and you also have a record of selling manufactured weapons to revolutionaries… This is the seizure order issued by the court. This Military Factory no longer belongs to you starting now." Riley's clean face showed no expression, his glasses reflected cold light, and his voice was low and judgmental: "Do not resist in any form; sign this contract." He placed a pen in front of the man.

"I understand! It's you… It was all your scheme from beginning to end! That big deal was a scam; you wanted to annex my factory from the start… Oh no… I should have realized this sooner…" The man clutched his head, pulling at his hair, his eyes bloodshot, his face a mixture of pain and regret.

"Heh, do you know what you're saying? Speaking carelessly without evidence, I can sue you for defamation." Riley pushed up his glasses and sneered, "At this point, I advise you to obediently do as I say, otherwise… If you don't worry about yourself, you should at least think about your 5-year-old son!"

The man suddenly looked up when he heard this, a fierce glint in his eyes. He clenched his fists and said in a deep voice: "What do you want to do to Joshua?! I warn you, if you dare to harm even a single hair on him, I… I will make you pay the price!"

Riley forced himself to stay calm, saying in a blustering manner: "If you don't want your son to get hurt, sign for me! Sign now!"

"Heh heh…" The man suddenly calmed down and let out a cold laugh: "I refuse."

When the memory ended, the description of this "Military Factory Map" also changed:

[Riley's Military Factory Map]

[Type: Uncommon Criminal Evidence]

[Special Effect: Helps you find the location of un-decoded cipher machines, and at the same time, The Overseer and survivors appearing nearby will also be temporarily marked on the map.]

[Weight: 10]

[Can it be taken out of the scene: No]

[Note: A hastily drawn map, the routes and marked points on it can probably only be understood by its creator.]

[Usage Impact: Your attention will be focused on the map.]

Sky (Emily Dyer)

Next was Sweet Candy Sky, she unlocked a memory after exchanging the flashlight for Caleb's Tranquilizer.

In the memory, Sweet Candy Sky became a doctor named 'Emily Dyer'.

In a dim room. The man lay weakly on the bed, and Emily Dyer, wearing a White Coat, was tidying medical supplies by the bed.

"Doctor, is my illness incurable?" Emily glanced at the man, a hint of disgust in her eyes. She was highly educated and always prided herself on being a high-class person. If it weren't for the 'plan's' necessity, she would not have come to this small, rural place to 'treat' this rude, smelly man.

"As long as you actively cooperate with the treatment, your illness can be cured." She quickly prepared a Tranquilizer, flicked the sharp needle twice, and then walked over to the man. "Now I'm going to inject you with the medicine."

The man had no defenses against the doctor, allowing her to inject the Tranquilizer into his arm. Soon, the man on the bed fell into a deep sleep.

Emily withdrew the syringe and took one last look at the man, with no trace of sympathy in her eyes. "Please don't blame me; it's you who foolishly insisted on staying in this troubled place." Then, she walked out of the room with her medical kit on her back.

The task Riley had given her was complete. The painful experiences she suffered in her childhood had long hardened her heart. She had done this kind of indirect killing before. She returned to the rich district without any psychological burden, continuing to live as an upper-class person. And this place would be burned to ashes by a big fire.

The memory ended, and Sweet Candy Sky's Tranquilizer also unlocked its effect:

[Emily's Tranquilizer]

[Type: Uncommon Criminal Evidence]

[Special Effect: After being injured, you can self-treat, and at the same time, the speed of treating other injured survivors is increased.]

[Weight: 10]

[Can it be taken out of the scene: No]

[Note: An emergency Tranquilizer, only those with medical knowledge can use it.]

[Usage Impact: When the needle pierces the body, a brief cry of pain will instinctively be emitted.]

Caleb (Cliché Pierson)

Finally, Caleb obtained the flashlight.

When the memory in his mind unlocked, he immediately understood the reason for the amnesia he felt when he first entered the game, and he also understood what everyone had overlooked.

In the memory, he found himself transformed into a street ruffian named 'Cliché Pierson'.

On the city streets, Cliché strolled swaggeringly with a few of his subordinates. "There are so many street children." Noticing the scene of those street children with coal-stained faces chasing passersby to beg, Cliché recalled his unhappy childhood memories. "It really affects the city's appearance. The Mayor doesn't even bother to manage it."

"Those big shots are all selfish. They only care about profit and won't do such thankless things." One of Cliché's younger brothers interjected, "There isn't even an orphanage in this city."

His younger brother's words suddenly startled Cliché. "An orphanage, that's a good idea."

That night, Cliché shared his plan with the four 'family members' he had grown up with. "Setting up an orphanage isn't difficult; the hard part is finding a sufficiently hidden location for it, one that won't easily attract attention." Cliché said, tapping his fingers on the table.

A man in a white shirt and glasses next to him then spoke: "I do have a good option. Behind a mountain in the western suburbs, there's a Military Factory named 'Minerva', which meets all your requirements. And… the owner of this Military Factory has a handle on me."

"Then it's settled; let's take down that Military Factory first." Cliché made the final decision.

The memory ended here, and Caleb noticed that the flashlight in his hand had also changed:

[Cliché's Flashlight]

[Type: Uncommon Criminal Evidence]

[Special Effect: Provides illumination, increases movement speed in the dark, and continuously shining the flashlight beam into The Overseer's eyes will blind him.]

[Weight: 30]

[Can it be taken out of the scene: No]

[Description: A fully charged flashlight that provides illumination in the dark.]

[Usage Impact: Produces a conspicuous light.]
