Chapter 14 - The Public Show.

"I don't even know. What is her plan?"

Chris muttered while seated in his car. Students were rolling in the school as the class started at 09.00, the current time was 08.54, and he was still clueless about how things would go down from now.

"Guess I have to find out, it won't be that bad. She knows I don't like attention that much. It will be cool, right?"

Looking at himself in the rearview mirror, he tried to calm himself down for the tenth time. He knew Grace was a very loving person, but her public persona was somewhat flashy, and he was afraid she was going to make a big deal out of it.

Locking his car door carefully, he slowly walked towards the science building. Today he didn't mind being late, he was actually hoping to be late. He wanted everyone to be seated in their class when he got there.

He can hear people buzzing around just like how it should be, he smells perfumes mixed with lunch boxes as he crosses the locker room, and he can see the huge field that he needs to cross to get to the science building.

Nice, the field looks empty, which is normal? It's very empty, like suspiciously empty.

The smile turned into doubt, then came a bit of horror, he was not sure if he was hallucinating. His legs stopped before he could actually push open the door, and his heart was beating so fast that he was not sure if he should head to the class or the infirmary.

Fuck it, she's mine anyway.

Gritting his teeth, he pushed the wooden door handle. The light outside was bright, but all he could see was the pink head that was standing in the middle of the field. Every window of the second and third floors was full, even teachers were staring down.

Go start the class, maybe? Sigh!

He can't blame them, Grace's father donates huge amounts to the school, and the Howard family was also one of the founding members of this school.

Grace was standing in the middle of the ground alone, her eyes looked lazy, as if the thing she was about to do was long overdue. The whole school was as quiet as it can be after the door was opened, on Chris's lips hung an awkward smile.

"I have been waiting here for, let's see, 20 minutes. Come on out, Chris Harper."

Grace's voice boomed as she smiled broadly, she even looked at her new watch, which she had gotten from Faith on her birthday.

Chris smiled, it looked fake, and he doesn't have any better ones on him currently. He slowly walked forward while Grace took big steps towards him, and before he could understand what she was going for, she jumped onto him and kissed his lips lightly.

If he were not holding her, she would have fallen on the ground pretty badly. The kiss lasted for only a second, but the whole school was shocked beyond belief.

"N…No way."

"Are they together?"

"What!!!"

Even teachers who should have reprimanded them were shocked, they looked at each other. The principal, who was peeking from his office, closed the windows tight and had panic written all over his face.

"Yeap, we are dating."

The slight big smile on Chris's face was natural, and he spoke for Grace with a red face. Although Grace looked unmoved, he knew what was going on in her heart, he was holding her arm, and the tremor from her hand was all he needed.

*Ding-Dong*

"All right, go back to your classes. You too, lovebirds, finals are near."

Teachers dismissed the whole crowd of students, the school bell was a nice icebreaker for all of them, especially Grace, who was now half depending on Chris for support, teachers were mostly busy with other students.

"Guess who became the hottest single guy in the whole school?"

"Obviously me."

"I wish Chris was single so that we wouldn't have to deal with idiots like this."

"Well, are you sure that's your only motive?"

Students were gossiping hard, some were happy, and the rest were sad, but no one was disappointed in such an outcome, no one really believed they could date either of them.

"Almost killed yourself in the process, Howard."

"Shut it, Needed to perform well, escort me to the classroom."

Chris teased her with his family name, and while Grace took big breaths, she was happy and proud, but her feet felt like jelly, so Chris was holding her up, she was smelling nice.

"You want to tell me about the business of yours?"

As they walked, Grace suddenly asked, she was concerned after the security call last night. She wanted to know more about what is happening with her boyfriend, how was he giving out so much money?

"Now? Well, it's nothing but a side hustle currently. I bought some Bitcoins a while ago, in 2019, when they were $10,000 a piece. I have about a hundred thousand now. This phone has $10,000 worth of coin."

Chris casually pulled out his phone and showed Grace his screen, which had some bits of a coin. Grace looked at the screen with a nod in her head, she was trying to merge her business and Chris's together if she could make sense of it.

"I say you start a modeling agency, you and I can do it initially with some trainers. The Howard Clothing line will hand out contracts like it's nothing."

The confidence in her tone is what Chris likes about her, he was also searching for a means he could use to hide everything with a valuable excuse, and she just gave him one.

"We will talk about this later, it's still far, but I can see your math class closing in."

"Alright, I will go now. Also, Dad doesn't remember much after what he did drunkenly, so I will keep it that way."

'I love you.'

A whisper escaped her mouth as she ran towards her class. Chris noticed she had been perfectly fine for a while now, but she was still pretending to be unable to walk so she could use him.
