DAMIEN POV
The parole board's decision came back.
Patricia delivered the news in person.
"They granted early release. Contingent on good behavior for the next 60 days, you'll be released."
I couldn't breathe. "Two months?"
"Yes. You'll be out by month eleven of your sentence. They were impressed by your rehabilitation efforts."
Two months.
I'd be free in two months.
"I need you to do something for me," I said. "The moment I'm out, I need all the information Margaret and Carlos have found. Every warehouse they've checked. Every lead they've followed. Everything."
"You're really going to look for her."
"Of course I am. That's why I fought so hard for early release."
"Damien, she's been missing for nine months. The odds"
"I don't care about odds. I care about Elena. And I'm going to find her."
Patricia nodded. "Alright. I'll coordinate with Margaret. We'll have everything ready for you when you're released."
After she left, I sat on my bunk, head in my hands.
