Chapter 7 - Sword Path

CHAPTER 7: SWORD PATH

The sun rose and the goblins kept coming in waves.

DAY 5 IN THE GABJIN JUNGLE. THE TOWER ACKNOWLEDGES YOUR TENACITY.

BODY'S MIGHT SLIGHTLY IMPROVED

Multiple deaths had

Maybe this will all be over soon.

MYTH HOLDERS 588/1032(BATCH XXS20976)

I didn't even care about the number of deaths, when my life was already difficult to maintain.

After a final thrust of my broken, bloody spear, the goblin wave was over.

A smile formed on my face as I cried tears of joy, my body collapsing from the intense movements I had been doing since last night.

"I survived," I told myself, with a weary breath.

Just as I was about to relax and catch my breath a piercing scream came from someone inside the camp.

I got up to look over the half-destroyed barricade, and the endless waves of goblins with their bone, stone, and wooden weapons shocked me.

Some people dropped their weapons and sprinted in the opposite direction. Others went on their knees, praying, and a few were laughing hysterically with tears in their eyes.

I also couldn't help but laugh.

All my efforts to stay alive felt like a slap in the face. My grip on the spear is loosening. Is this how I die?

A wave of crushing despair hit me. My shoulders felt heavier as the goblins charged.

The tide of goblins rushed to the camp, with death certain, I strengthened my grip and held what was left of my spear.

It's better to take one with me than die alone.

When the goblins came closer to the camp a shimmering arc of light swept across the field as most goblins were cleaved in half.

Finn, who was somehow flying in the sky, came down due to gravity. I tried to stay awake and help anyway I could, but exhaustion got the better of me.

I tried to stop my body. What if something happens to me when I get knocked out?

My body stopped listening to me as I slowly leaned uncontrollably to the ground.

Finn's sword slashed at any goblin that got close to him. The move he pulled earlier caused a huge toll on his body e with his current physical and mana levels.

He knew it was a stupid move since his only goal was to kill the chieftain leading this charge.

But small sacrifices could be made.

Goblin's body was decapitated at the mere graze of his sword as he got deeper into the goblin wave.

Flames lit his path burning the goblins that came closer to him. Some of the hunting crew used their strong bodies to physically pummel the goblins while others used weapons enhanced by their mythos.

Finn's journey to the goblin chief was smooth so far.

A single goblin with red tattoos that tried to wriggle and spread around on its green skin. Its size was twice that of a regular goblin.

"A blood goblin," Finn smiled. It wasn't yet complete, which would decrease the difficulty of his goal.

He swung his sword at it which it hastily blocked with its club.

The rebound pushed the goblins a few feet backwards. Its brow furrowed as it glared at Finn with its blood red eyes.

The blood goblin rushed at Finn, its club dragging on the ground.

"GWARRR!!!" it roared, with a large swing of its club which was easily readable. The only problem Finn had was the speed of the attack.

He narrowly dodged, with sweat dripping down his brow. "I should've worked out more," he joked.

With another swing of his sword to the side rib of the Blood Goblin, it left a shallow cut, but it still bled.

The blood goblin, shocked that its thick hide got cut, stares at it with wide-eyed disbelief. It couldn't accept this, the first blood goblin in ages and it got cut by a hairless ape.

Rage blinded its reason as it charged at Finn with long swings.

Finn, on the other hand, as cool-headed as ever, dodged the swings with minimal movements, although the swings were faster than him, causing his body to respond a beat slower than his mind.

With another roar, the goblin raised its club as all the tattoos moved to its arm, making it bulge with veins popping out.

Finn saw this as a smile formed on his face.

"As predictable as ever", his body vanished, leaving only an afterimage.

The goblin's blood-red arm swung so hard that the club lodged into the ground. It tried to get it out but it couldn't pull it out no matter what.

It let go of its weapon, seeing no hope, but it was too late. The last thing it saw was the world turned upside down as its headless body collapsed to the ground.
