It was surprisingly easy.
Since the control terminals were directly linked to the core buried deep within the pit, all they had to do was destroy the terminals or, more precisely, destroy the core through the terminals.
Ordinarily, this was something Nightingale couldn't accomplish on his own, even with [Flatten]. His ability required him to "see" the target for it to take effect, and the core was hidden far below, well out of sight.
Even if he attempted something along those lines, there was no guarantee it would work. The most likely outcome was that the entire labyrinth would collapse, just like the Second Floor, and both of them would end up trapped as a result of their recklessness, or worse.
Was escape even possible in the first place?
He had spoken confidently earlier, throwing around logical explanations and reasoning to keep himself steady… but how much of it had truly been correct?
