Malorie ran until dawn.
She never for once turned to look back, lest she found one or more of the men chasing her. The area was deserted, filled with bushes and grasses. She wondered what part of the east this was. Not that she knew any part, though.
She stopped by a tree, leaning her back on it to rest as she heaved for air. She closed her eyes for a bit, her hands falling on her stomach. She knew her actions now were not good for the baby, but it was only what could be done if she wanted to save herself and her baby.
Malorie continued her race. She raced until she came by a stream. She didn't think twice before racing to it. She bent down, scooping the water with her hands and drinking up. She took multiple gulps that she lost count.
"Oh dear, you must be really thirsty." A fragile female voice came from behind her. Malorie paused, fear slithering through her veins that she would turn and find the Madam behind her. "I mean no harm, dear."
