Chapter 51 Players who don't play PVP

"It's for playing Pirates of the Caribbean."

"Huh!?"

Laura took the console and examined it in her hands.

"No matter how I look at it, it doesn't seem like it can play Pirates of the Caribbean. I don't believe it. Where did you get this?"

"From the factory. It hasn't been released yet," Matthias Engel replied calmly.

"Matthias, instead of working on game code, you've started stealing hardware from the factory."

"Me!" Matthias tapped her on the head: "Do I need to steal from my own production line?"

"I'll believe you didn't steal it for now, but I absolutely don't believe this thing can run a game that massive."

"Then let's make a bet. Whoever wins will be responsible for washing the other person's clothes for a month."

"Alright, I agree."

Matthias walked over to the desk, unplugged the monitor cable from his PC, and plugged it into the compact console. Then he plugged in the power and network cables, connected the mouse and keyboard, and everything was set. He pressed the power button, and the GAME STAR logo appeared on the screen.

"Game Star... I haven't heard of this company," Laura whispered.

"The world's top gaming company in the future. Remember the name," Matthias said.

"Oh~~"

The logo disappeared, and the game console's selection interface appeared, with the latest version of Pirates of the Caribbean pre-installed. If the purchased version wasn't the latest, it could be updated or downloaded directly online. Seeing the smooth system interface, Laura was a bit surprised: "I thought it would be a pixelated interface. It looks so clear."

Immediately after, Matthias opened Pirates of the Caribbean.

"Here, enter your account and password and try it out."

Laura entered her credentials and reached the character selection screen. She was shocked to see the fidelity: "It really can play! The graphics are so much clearer than before."

She then selected her character and entered the game. Exquisite graphics appeared on the screen: perfect modeling, detailed scenery, and realistic sound effects—this was the charm of movie-level graphics enabled by the Game Producer System. Laura eagerly put on her headphones and played for a while, saying incredulously: "It's like a completely different game!"

The massive improvement in graphics combined with the smooth actions made the game feel brand new. Laura was completely absorbed, once again immersed in the game world.

Matthias had originally intended to take the game console home to play himself, but since she liked it, he would just bring another unit back from the AdlerTech factory another day. Everything was waiting for the day the game console would be released. To be honest, he didn't have high expectations for the initial sales volume. Mainy, this console was a specialized device for Pirates of the Caribbean fans.

After a while, Laura's phone rang. But she was so deep in the game that she didn't hear it at all.

Matthias picked up the phone: "Hello?"

"Hello? Matthias, is Laura home?" Maria Schmidt asked.

"She's playing a game," Matthias replied.

"That girl... tell her to come to the office quickly. There's a new variety show segment to record."

Matthias took off Laura's headphones and handed her the phone. Finally, Laura reluctantly left the screen, put on her coat with a look of despair, waved goodbye to Matthias, and headed out. It seemed being a rising star wasn't that easy. She was currently in the early stages of her career, so it was understandable that she had to work hard.

After Laura left, Matthias took the game console to his room and started playing. He was still setting up a stall in Royal Port, watching various players, chatting occasionally, and understanding the player base's needs. That day, an adventurer came to his stall.

"Boss, help me appraise this equipment." The player brought a pair of boots.

"Starting appraisal…"

Two seconds later, a deep blue light flashed, revealing a pair of boots of excellent quality.

"You're really lucky. These boots come with a Double Jump skill."

"Haha, really? That's great, I can sell them for a good price."

"Uh, aren't you considering wearing them yourself? Some special environments require Double Jump."

The player was silent for a moment: "I don't need this skill."

"How could you not need it? I suggest you keep it. Some treasure chests might require Double Jump to find them. Oh, and for PVP, Double Jump is very important."

"I don't play PVP."

"So you're a scenery enthusiast. Then I won't offer any more suggestions."

The player hesitated for a moment: "Actually, it's not that I don't want to play PVP. To be honest, I'm disabled and only have one arm."

At these words, Matthias was stunned for a moment. "I'm sorry."

"It's nothing. I'm already very happy to be able to play this game. Goodbye, boss!"

"Wait, can I get your contact information?"

"Emmm, okay."

And so, the two exchanged contact information. After the player left, Matthias exited the game. He sat in his chair, lit a cigarette, and imagined a disabled person playing the game. He only had one arm, which meant he could only control the mouse. His directional keys were not WASD, but entirely dependent on mouse clicks, and skill releases were also done this way. No matter how many skills he had, he could only release them by clicking, which put him at a significant disadvantage.

The game console was about to be released, and Matthias felt that he could add something more to it. He entered the Game Producer System interface.

"Welcome to the Game Producer system. How can I help you?"

"Add a disabled mode to the game, and also design a set of peripherals suitable for this mode."

"Okay, this request will cost ten thousand game coins. Do you wish to pay?"

"Yes."

Immediately after, the system designed the disabled peripherals and the corresponding software mode. Looking at the design blueprints, there were different versions. There were peripherals for arm disabilities, leg disabilities, and even accessibility for visual impairments.

For the single-handed player mentioned earlier, more mouse macros were provided, as well as foot pedals, allowing skills to be released by stepping on them. For players without hands, mouth and foot controllers were provided.

As for blind players, this was the most difficult. To address this, the system made special improvements. It was obviously impossible for blind players to navigate an open-world adventure. So Matthias came up with a method: for blind players, he provided a dedicated PVP channel. They would enter an arena training and PVP mode rather than the open adventure mode. They could use a special spatial sound effect mode in their headphones to battle.

They would determine positions based on sound. Every option, skill, and action had corresponding audio cues, including the distance and direction of the opponent. This required precise control over sound engineering. If this mode could be mastered, they would be considered truly hardcore players.
