Elior woke up to the harsh glare of a light bulb. His head throbbed painfully. Through the haze, Elior could just make out the drip stand, and the heart monitor's beeping echoed in my ears.
As I struggled to sit up, a voice cut in
"Don't push yourself!"
I turned sideways to see a young girl about my age. Her silky brown hair framed her jade green eyes, and her petite frame made her undeniably cute.
"Who are you?" Elior asked, acting oblivious to who she was
Moving closer to Elior, she spoke "I am Ymir Fenleigh"
"We're in the class"
Hearing her name, Elior lay back down.
I remembered Ymir Fenleigh—she had been crucial to Aiden and his friends' progress with her talent for healing
Skilled with a crossbow, Ymir had supported Aiden and his group in ranged battles, especially against distant opponents.
"Please, when can I meet the nurse?"
"About now," Ymir answered cheerfully.
The door creaked open, a young woman clearly in her late twenties walked in She was no novice at healing, as the dark bags under her eyes clearly showed.
"Patient 101, Elior Vayne, Year 1, Veryven hall"
"Am I correct?"
"Yes ma"
"Please don't call me 'ma.' I'm not that old yet. Just call me Miss Sora."
"Ummm… okay," Elior said nodding faintly.
Miss Sora checked my vitals, adjusting the monitors with practiced precision. I could tell she had saved lives countless times.
The only flaw I had when describing her was her inability to handle alcohol and her habitual smoking, which I could almost smell. I could practically smell the cigarettes, and I was sure Ymir could too, but we both chose to ignore it.
Taking a look at my patient file, Miss Sora frowned
"Almost depleted your Arcana core. Do you realize you could have died?" It was an extremely risky predicament you put yourself in young man"
"I understand ma" Elior said, nodding quietly.
Miss Sora just stared blankly at Elior before sighing in exhaustion "You look like someone I will be seeing more often"
Elior just shot Miss Sora a simple wry smile.
"Make sure to rest up"
"Understood"
Miss Sora stepped out and Ymir followed behind her.
Elior felt idle, he had never been this idle since he had arrived here, it felt like a piece of him was stolen without him knowing.
Staring back the ceiling, Elior dived into his thoughts. Thoughts about how to avoid the Astralis Massacre but that was momentarily stopped.
"My student lets himself run out of arcana, how shameful" Mistress Arwen said with a smirk on her face as she walked in.
"Please can you leave me alone?" Elior said hiding his face from embarrassment.
"It seems you have made enough money from our little scheme"
"I can say the same, you enjoyed seeing your students fight. I could literally see stars beaming in your eyes" Elior said finally facing her
"How convenient, I hope you remember you owe me"
"I remember Mistress Arwen, what would like me to do?"
"It is simple----- You become my student. We would spear every day from next week" Mistress Arwen said with a smile on her face
"Ummmm......I cannot fulfill that"
"There are many students better than me such as Aiden Cross, Kael Draven, Seren Valenor and the rest. I cannot be chosen for this great opportunity"
"Sorry but I want you and you cannot refuse, if you do; I will find you and I am not kidding" Mistress Arwen said with a wide grin
"Yes Ma'am"
As Mistress Arwen left, Elior slumped into frustration. It's not that Elior was unwilling to train under Mistress Arwen—his concern was that she was the teacher who transformed Aiden Cross's world of swordsmanship.
Taking his place could complicate everything. Aiden's little world on swordsmanship was crushed when Mistress Arwen began teaching him, so me taking that spot makes things going forward more difficult.
"I think I will just have to convince her to teach Aiden Cross at a different time", Elior said with a heavy sigh.
The door creaked open and another person entered.
"Elior, how are you feeling"
"I am fine Aria, just getting rest"
"Don't push yourself, I know you told me to make friends and so I have brought them"
"Oh, where are they" Elior said with amusement
'She did it. I am proud'
"Come on in, guys," Aria said
As they all came in, Elior's eyes widened. He quickly masked his bewilderment, not wanting to appear foolish.
"Nyra Kaelis… Ymir Fenleigh—you've met her earlier… Selene Valtoria, Mira Solen, Elira Noxveil, Ravyn Astraea, Kael Draven, Luna Seraphine, Ryn Alden… and finally, Aiden Cross."
