I didn't wait for agreement, didn't wait for permission, bcause something about this place....
About Voss... was wrong in a way that didn't fade. Victor was already pulling up exit routes on the console.
"There are three ways out," he said.
"Two are locked down."
"Then we take the third," I replied.
He hesitated.
"That one leads through the lower systems."
"Good."
Less predictable and less controlled.
ADANNA POV (Point of view)
The moment he said move... the system shifted, not physically but I felt it. Eden pulsed once, it was sharp and a warning.
I froze slightly and Darian noticed instantly.
"What is it?"
I looked at him.
"It knows we're leaving."
DARIAN POV (Point of view)
Of course it did amd nothing about this was going to be simple.
"Orion?" I asked.
She shook her head slowly.
"Not just Orion…"
That was worse.
