Cherreads

Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: White, Then Dark

Taking a step back, Raiden had unleashed the attack which forced Arthur to let go of his cutlass before apologizing and going to fight Elsa, leaving Arthur, Lucy's dad, Lucy, and Rachel all to fight against the three sisters.

'Despite having them outnumbered four to three, we might actually be placed at a disadvantage.'

Basically, Arthur's group consisted of two women and two men. This wouldn't be as much of a problem, since the gap between the strength of men and women was actually quite small for dragons as compared to humans.

However, the problem came with those women and their abilities.

Lucy's ability needed no introduction. As she cannot bring someone into those dreams, that Art served little to no use in a combat situation.

And Rachel, remind you, had her Dragon Art stolen from her, making her quite weak. Especially since she'd been through a month of malnutrition, the most recent meal being a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

So the only truly powerful combatants left on the table were Arthur and Lucy's dad, Theo.

Theo was part of the Rem family, as a Dream Dragon. So, he might not be ideal for combat. And Arthur himself had just been disarmed, as his weapon had electricity which would shock him if he touched it.

"Good grief," Arthur grumbled, cracking his knuckles and putting his hands up. The three sisters, each similar looking to Rachel in terms of characteristics, though each having different lengths of hair.

The first, with the shortest hair hardly past her nape, was Ray. The second, with hair down to her shoulders, was Rave. The third, with hair down to her waist, was Ramona.

"Arthur," Rachel said quietly. Arthur turned towards her, and she continued, saying, "Please, do not kill my sisters. It will be acceptable to rough them up a bit, but do not kill them."

The girl he liked told him not to kill, so Arthur, being someone with a weak heart, obliged. "Got it, got it," Arthur replied, before kicking off the ground, exploding over to them with speed. Upon landing, he attempted to swing his fist at Ray.

However, Ramona and Rave circled him, kicking in the back of his knees before Ray uppercutted him as he fell forwards. Immediately, the two girls in the back lifted his legs up and Ray began to stomp on the back of his head, before the other two began to intervene.

Lucy charged up a punch, unleashing it at Rave. However, Lucy's dislike of violence shined through when it missed spectacularly, letting Rave get an easy counter in the form of a haymaker to the jaw which sent Lucy crashing into the dirt.

Her father, Theo, planted his foot down and unleashed a kick to Ramona's head, which landed. Ramona's body swung like a thrown shuriken, her feet coming into contact with the ground first, which slowed her enough to land on the ground.

Arthur got up, looking at Rachel, who had joined into the fray, wrapping her arms around Ray's wrist and lifting the woman up, slamming her down back first into the stone pathway around the fountain of their mansion.

Rachel mounted her, balling up her fists and cracking her sister in the head with them, left and right, left and right.

"I always was the strongest of us," Rachel grunted with what might have sounded as disdain. However, in truth, because she was pushing her body quite hard, it simply came out that way due to strain.

Ray clapped her hands together, causing a blast of energy which sent Rachel flying off of her, causing Rachel to land in the pool.

She was still on the ground, so Arthur ran over, reeling his foot back and kicked her in the head like it was a soccer ball. Her body took off in the air from the force, as she was truly launched like a soccer ball.

She face-planted down into the chairs outside, and Arthur began to work on the others, being filled with the sense that this might be an easy match.

He felt like Lucy's dad would need less help, so he decided to jump Rave, punching her in the back of the head. Rave grabbed Lucy, as she'd been knocked forward from the punch, before picking her up and throwing her at Arthur like a chair.

Lucy crashed into him, and they were knocked back a good enough distance to allow for Rave to jump Theo.

The position in which Arthur and Lucy collided was that of a + shape, to which Arthur growled and shoved her off of him, standing up and looking down on her for a moment.

'Useless. Absolutely useless.'

His hormones were thrown out of whack due to his abuse.

Speaking of which, the steroids, despite only having been injected in him once, were still disrupting his hormones. His dragon's blood acted like steroids for his steroids, making them last even longer than normally.

The only thing that would've kept him tethered was Rachel, and even then it was out of sheer lust. He was "seduced" by her, so he didn't lash out as much. But for Lucy, who had genuinely infuriated him by getting in his way and trying to talk him out of it, he did feel anger.

He rushed forward at the others, before seeing a blade of pink energy sprout from Theo's chest.

A blade made of condensed "love," able to cut through many things, was now running through him. Lucy looked over at him, her eyes widening for a second.

"Da—"

Arthur lunged, punching Rave in the temple, as an attack that had no snap back, but rather as a sort of pushing move, to which he launched her skull to the point of destroying the stone pathway, as her head was stuck inside of the ground.

Her legs stuck out, to which the woman, wearing a skirt, had her undergarments exposed. However, no such thing entered Arthur's vision, as he grabbed her by the ankle and pulled her out, lifting her very human bodyweight into the air.

Having been quite literally jumped and having the back of his skull stomped on, only to have a woman thrown into him in order for her to deliver a lethal blow to an ally was something that didn't sit well with Arthur.

Ramona was hiding behind Theo, so Arthur got Theo out of the way, swinging the woman and smacking her into him, blasting his body away with extraordinary force.

"H-huh—?"

—Before he raised Rave like a sword, swinging her down and crashing sisterly skulls against each other.

It was a mighty blow, yet—

"GRAH! MOTHERFUCKER!"

Arthur cursed out of sheer wrath when he was taken away by a blast of energy, sent sliding back into the pool.

Rave had been knocked out of his grasp, to which the three sisters then rushed together to unite, being wounded. Arthur exploded out of the water, wiping the water off of his bald head.

The attack had quite literally knocked off all of the hair on his balding head, which made his already red-with-acne face become even more red from anger, a scene hard to take seriously if he didn't give the impression of a raging red ogre.

Arthur climbed out of the pool, to which he began to sprint, his legs moving at incredible speeds with long strikes, jumping up and smashing Ray in the teeth, knocking some out and sending her body colliding into a fountain which broke apart.

He rushed over, raising his foot and stomping down on the back of her neck. He kicked her shoulder, flipping her onto her back before he got on top of her, delivering dual hammer fists to her head and throat like a monkey.

The two were currently quite close to the mansion. It was infuriating when out of nowhere, an electrical explosion occurred inside of the house due to Raiden's first detonation, blasting Arthur away from what would have perhaps been a victory.

He flew back, paralyzed from his wounds as he frothed at the mouth in rage. His body twitched relentlessly, as he grunted and tried his best to get his muscles to work.

"MTHAFLACKLRAH!"

Meanwhile, Lucy rushed over to her father, holding her in his arms before he healed his wound, gasping for air afterwards. He stood up, looking at Arthur who was currently just beginning to be able to move once more.

The other sisters rushed Arthur down, deeming him the biggest threat. Rave formed the Blade of Love, raising it up before Arthur exploded into his Dragon Form, which she cut through with her beam.

Blood unleashed from him, which made him so incredibly angry he wanted nothing more than to see her corpse.

He regained control over his body, swiping her away with his arms and claws, ripping open her chest to chunks of blood which she healed rather quickly to avoid catastrophic danger.

Arthur sprung back into his human form, reeling his fist back hard and catapulting it at her stomach, implanting it right into her gut and shooting her back towards the gates of the mansion, blowing them open.

Arthur then got into a scuffle with Ramona, throwing wild haymakers which she was able to dodge. He was seriously enraged, so if she was caught, then she may very well have died.

But this isn't a battle shonen. Rage does not give you a super form that turns tides. It leads to you getting clocked in the chin, which is what happened to Arthur.

Naturally, as any creature with a brain should know, such a blow nearly slumped him. It was quite nicely pulled off. Arthur, in his rage, had his other hand down, unable to guard with that, he was then clipped and nearly knocked out.

'Huh? Why am I seeing… no, it was white, but then it went dark, what?'

She'd knocked the rage out of him. Arthur said he was going to start seeing red, and yes, he did. But seeing red wasn't enough.

His vision had turned towards the light stone scenery, then dark from her throwing an upwards kick, as she was wearing black pants when she did so. Arthur's head was knocked backwards, to which he did a flip and the back of his head smacked the ground hard, leading to him being entirely confused.

'What? What's happening?'

Arthur's legs were quite stiff, spread out and falling down.

He sat out, seeing Rachel get out of the pool. She looked quite pretty, with ethereal wet hair like a mermaid.

"Ryathal, yhu lgloghcla."

'Look good. You look good. Wait, why's everything feel funny? Hm. Meh, whatever. I'm tired, I think I should just go to sleep.'

Arthur closed his eyes, before having them forced open. He saw Rachel, looking down on him.

"———"

Her mouth was moving, so it seemed like she was saying something, but he couldn't make it out. It was like he could hear everything, though there was a faint ringing. However, despite being able to hear, his brain wouldn't translate it into human understanding.

'Ah, I really wanna get a kiss.'

His inner consciousness spoke.

She shook him, and Arthur was beginning to get quite annoyed.

'What? What're you doing? C'mon, speak up!'

However, he, for the sake of funsies, looked around. It was a mansion. How lovely.

He noticed that his body felt fuzzy, so he got the impression he might have been in a fight of some sorts. So, he healed his body.

Along with that, his brain too, which actually restored his jaw functions and mental prowess. Immediately, he thought—

'Ah, SHIT! I got knocked out in front of her!'

Arthur put his face in his hands from embarrassment, before getting up.

While his hormones were still acting up, he'd quite literally had his brain reset. So, that wouldn't be too big of a deal for the moment.

Arthur looked at Rachel, scoffing and walking over to grab his cutlass, which was no longer electrifying.

'Good grief. I gotta show off now, to make up for getting knocked out. '

Then, the house exploded. Bits and pieces of it flew everywhere, with a loud boom which honestly scared Arthur for a moment, perceiving an attack that did not arrive.

He looked at the sisters, seeing that Lucy was helping her dad out in the 2v2. His gut punch had completely taken Rave out of the picture.

And so, Arthur formed a gauntlet from the cutlass, as he wanted a less lethal method of fighting them. He rushed down the sisters, sneak attacking Ray with a punch to the back of the head which knocked her out, only for Ramona to come in with a push kick to his stomach which sent him back.

Arthur clicked his tongue, before finally, Raiden appeared onto the scene, wielding his halberd over his shoulder with a devilish smirk.

"Alrighty, so let's see… One fish, two fish, long pink fish, really long pink fish, and finally, a yummy fish!"

Ramona backed away, healing her wounds at the cost, before Raiden entered the fray with a decisive strike.

—Theo kept his eyes on Ramona, focusing on her as she backed away. So, Raiden decided to make things messy.

With a cold, hard thud, a blade was plunged into the back of his skull while he wasn't looking. Before long, his corpse hit the floor.

Everyone present immediately turned their sights onto the man, as he licked his lips, his face covered in blood.

"So, how was that? Was it first blood, or have you already crossed the line a couple times by now?" Raiden teased, to which Lucy exhaled and inhaled rapidly, looking down as tears rolled down her soft face.

"You, you, dad…"

"Yep, that's your dad. I think? Unless your mom's a cheating—"

Arthur lunged at him, to which Raiden immediately picked his halberd back up and swung it at the newly reformed cutlass, clashing blades once more.

Raiden's swing was more powerful, so Arthur released his attack, dashing backwards.

"Oh, and you pinkies, I killed your folks as well, so there's no need to feel left out. But enough teasing, that's no way a warrior should act. Let's push past our limits and grow to become even stronger, shall we?"

His declaration resonated in the hearts of none but himself. It was only he who could view this situation as a fight to grow from.

To all but himself, this was a battle to the death.
