Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: A Twist of Fate

Everyone has their own weaknesses. The brave young girl who dared to kidnap Kaidou was now so terrified by a syringe that she was running around the ship in panic. Of course, in such a confined space, she couldn't get away. Before she had taken three steps, she was grabbed back by Shaina.

"Get back here! Although the South Sea Emperor Heat has been tackled, you'll still die without timely treatment. Queen, give her the shot."

"Don't worry, don't worry, I'm a professional in this area."

After holding Olga's arm, his mechanical hand automatically completed a series of disinfection procedures, then the syringe was directly stabbed into her shoulder.

"Kid, you're someone who dared to kidnap Brother Kaidou, so why be scared of a mere syringe?"

Queen couldn't understand where Olga had gathered the courage yesterday, especially since she probably didn't know Kaidou, but that size difference alone would have deterred most people.

Saying this, he handed Kaidou's wanted poster to her. The patrol ship naturally had these items; pirates wouldn't usually panic upon seeing a wanted poster, rather they would treat it as a badge of honor.

"One hundred, thousand, ten thousand, hundred thousand, million... 1.2 billion??!"

Counting the long string of zeroes on Kaidou's wanted poster, Olga's expression twisted. The Belly had been depreciating over the years, its purchasing power continuously decreasing. 1.2 billion Belly from over a hundred years ago was worth far more than today's 1.2 billion, not to mention there were more numbers after that.

It's common knowledge across The Sea that the higher the bounty of a pirate, the stronger they usually are.

Though a pirate's bounty is judged based on their strength and the danger level perceived by the government, strength and bounty usually have a direct correlation.

A father and daughter who had lived in the belly of a Sea King for over a hundred years found themselves on a pirate ship less than a day after escaping to freedom.

But in strict terms, they were saved by the Hundred Beasts Pirates twice. Arceus and Kaidou got them out of the Sea King's stomach, and Queen solved the South Sea Emperor Heat.

Of course, the latter wasn't a particularly difficult task; as long as they found an island with reasonable medical standards, the corresponding vaccine could be found.

A Great Pirate with a 1.2 billion bounty, she found slipping away extremely difficult. The crucial issue was that Elizabeth had defected, completely submitting to Arceus, so much so that it was impossible to pull her away, especially with her father here.

But compared to Olga, Asie didn't hold as strong a rejection towards pirates. Being an adult, he had more to consider.

Back then, he didn't create pure gold for fame or fortune but to solve Olga's health issues.

So after successfully creating pure gold, he didn't boast about it. He knew what kind of outcome pure gold would lead to, though pure gold also had side effects, like slowing down physical development and hindering strength progress.

But the longevity it offered was enough to drive people crazy, especially the Heavenly Celestial Dragon at the top of the world, who had everything and desired time the most. The high price of the Op-Op Fruit and its secret for performing the Eternal Life Surgery were inseparably linked.

Even the people on the island didn't know what exactly he was doing; the creation of pure gold was something he and his wife completed alone. Though people on the island helped transport materials, they couldn't guess the purpose of these materials.

Different materials were purchased separately; for instance, charcoal was bought for barbecuing, sulfur for making soap, and saltpeter for ice-making, but mix them together and you get gunpowder. The exact proportions are... well, don't ask.

His pure gold materials were the same; back then, he didn't know if these things could make pure gold. So the question arises, who leaked the successful creation of pure gold to those pirates?

The only entity likely to deduce his intent from his material purchases and discover his success would be the World Government.

This was his suspicion: the World Government wanted to monopolize pure gold without letting other ambitious entities know about it.

So they leaked the information, hoping pirates would handle it first. Afterward, the government would intervene, eliminate excess witnesses, and take away Asie, making him produce pure gold as a 'savior' for them.

The higher one's status, the more they knew, and the more they could feel the darkness hidden under the order of the World Government. But of course, this was just his conjecture.

The World Government could destroy Alkemi with a Buster Call, but doing so would require a pretext and the impact management afterward would be too costly, better to use pirates.

But they didn't anticipate that the destruction brought by pure gold referred to a super-large Sea King. Those pirates were the ferocious jackals, but the person who passed the information was the true culprit.

Over a hundred years had passed, those people likely grew old and died. Now he simply wanted to live well with his daughter, stance wasn't important, with his skills, he could always find a place to stand.

This was near the Windless Zone, so now he could only go with Kaidou and them. However, he was still very opposed to his daughter becoming a pirate, wanting to use research needs as a reason to make Olga assist in research.

But those were matters for later; right now, Arceus and the others were continuing to follow the Life Card provided by Purilite to track John.

Elsewhere, Spandine was flipping tables in his office. The situation in the South Sea had already been calmed by the Navy, Zephyr gained another mark in his career, but this had nothing to do with Spandine, because the personnel he left in the 277th division were dead.

The pirates did not surrender immediately when faced with Zephyr's fleet, and Spandine's undercover agent hit his head on a window corner when he fell into unconsciousness due to Kaidou's Haki, resulting in him never waking up and subsequently dying from the Navy's mysterious AOE firepower.

The warships from the Headquarter, the caliber of their artillery was vastly different from the Four Seas, the firepower intensity created a huge chasm. While Zephyr, known as an "Admiral," was reputed for not killing those he caught personally, he wasn't foolish and wouldn't allow soldiers to suffer significant casualties just to capture the enemy alive.

Later, Spandine sent people to various prisons to interrogate those pirates, but none knew what happened. The only information he had was that Purilite had engaged in battle with a Great Pirate.

After some time, Spandine made another call.

"Fleit, have you found that bastard yet?"

"Not yet, Officer Spandine, but the reaction from the Life Card is getting stronger."

"Catch that bastard, I'll make him know the consequences of betraying me."

Looking at the half Life Card in his hand, Spandine was furious, but he didn't know that this Life Card wasn't Purilite's Life Card at all.
