In the pindrop silent courtroom, Jossy sat with Hazel and her parents behind her. Noah was at her side, but maintained a low profile since he was a public figure. Damien sat rigidly, staring ahead with clenched fists.
The jurors had just come back in, after hours of deliberation, their faces unreadable.
This, this was the moment of truth. Cameras rolled as the judge
cleared his throat. "Members of the jury, have you reached a unanimous verdict?"
The foreperson stood, voice steady. "Yes, Your Honor. We have."
"Please read your verdict."
The foreperson's eyes swept across the room as he carefully read out the words. "We, the jury, find the defendant, Damien ," he paused a bit for effect , "guilty on all counts of physical and sexual assault."
A wave of silence washed over the courtroom. Then came the commotion, the whispers, the flash of cameras as reporters documented the moment. Damien froze, disbelief and rage flashing across his face. His mother's hand shot to her mouth, shock and confusion evident. She turned to the media. "Stop recording!"
