That evening, back in her room, Hazel settled on the other side of her bed, as the two chatted about work, therapy, and life in Alpine. Hazel updated her on her real estate projects, while Jossy shared a bit about her marketing work at Lennox.
"LA is LA, busy as you remember, but it's different without you. We miss you over there," Hazel said.
"I barely had any friends there," Jossy admitted softly.
"I'm sure Noah misses you," Hazel teased gently.
Jossy didn't answer. She knew how Noah felt; he had made it clear during the trial. And even before that, while living under his parents' roof, she had long suspected he liked her. But she also knew it wasn't the right time to think about that. She wasn't ready for that kind of relationship. Her marriage to Damien was a nightmare she was still trying to forget, and the demons of that past haunted her late in the night. That was all she could deal with for now. Her thoughts however drifted to Noah's parents. She missed them dearly, their kindness, their warmth, and the way they had made her feel like family. In many ways, their son had turned out to be like them. She thought; They must be proud.
