Tailed Beasts.
The ultimate monsters passed down since the Ancient Era.
Since ancient times, they have been symbols of natural disasters.
They possess immense power that humans cannot touch.
Their name comes from the number of tails they possess—ranging from one to nine, a total of nine Tailed Beasts—peculiar lifeforms formed from the manifestation of massive Chakra.
They are immortal and indestructible.
They can only be sealed.
Hakushi searched for all kinds of information about the Tailed Beasts; none of the texts here described them as anything other than monsters, demonizing these Chakra entities and calling them disasters.
In order to prevent the Tailed Beasts from causing more chaos, someone must serve as a sacrifice, becoming the container to seal the Tailed Beast—that is, a Jinchuriki.
Currently, every Ninja Village of the Five Great Nations possesses a Jinchuriki weapon sealing a Tailed Beast.
This includes Konoha, where Hakushi is now, which also houses a Tailed Beast—and not just any, but the most powerful monster among them: the Nine-tailed.
The Nine-tailed is a giant demon fox with nine tails. It was once controlled by a ninja from the Uchiha Clan, Uchiha Madara. Later, the First Hokage defeated Uchiha Madara, believing saw the Nine-tailed Demon Fox's power as too wicked and overwhelming, and took the opportunity to seal the Nine-tailed Demon Fox, suppressing it within Konoha.
After this, the records abruptly end.
But knowing these things was already enough for Hakushi.
The Tailed Beasts are life forms produced by the materialization of Chakra.
They possess disaster-level power.
Thinking back to the day the One-tailed Shukaku went berserk—even observing from a distance—one couldn't help but feel a terror that couldn't be resisted.
Hakushi felt that naming the Tailed Beasts as symbols of disaster was absolutely accurate.
This kind of power is indeed beyond humanity's control.
The most critical point: Even if you kill a Tailed Beast, after a period, it will randomly revive somewhere in the Ninja Realm.
Therefore, only Sealing Techniques are effective against Tailed Beasts.
Hakushi glanced at the sealed glass cylinder in the recess of the adjacent detection device, inside which condensed a cluster of physical Chakra emitting a faint purple light.
"It is pure Chakra for sure, but it seems there's some Yin-Yang Attribute Chakra transformation within it..."
Based on what Hakushi knows and the information obtained through practice, Chakra has volatile properties.
In other words, if you materialize Chakra, after a while it will naturally dissipate.
Yet Tailed Beasts rely purely on physical Chakra to maintain their forms, but they do not continuously lose Chakra through volatilization.
At least, based on what's known, Tailed Beasts don't continually lose Chakra in that way.
"Is it because of the Yin Yang Attribute transformation? And there's something else—something mysterious and unknown. If I hadn't previously conducted experiments with Natural Energy, I probably wouldn't have noticed it at all."
Hakushi then stared at this faintly ominous Tailed Beast Chakra with a look of doubt.
This Tailed Beast Chakra came from Hidden Sand's One-tailed Shukaku.
Hakushi believed this Chakra held extraordinary research value, so when they were escaping, he conveniently used a test vial that could automatically extract Chakra to take some of it along.
He had more or less grasped the initial analysis of Tailed Beast Chakra.
But as for the deeper secrets, there was still no effective path to investigate and decode them.
More importantly, though he was proficient in Yang Attribute transformation, he was far less adept with Yin Attribute transformation.
The Spirit Transformation Jutsu that Ruri had given him earlier also belonged to the Yin Attribute Chakra transformation type of Ninja Technique—it could ignore any defense and enter an enemy's spiritual world for destruction or control.
Therefore, to explore the secrets of Tailed Beast Chakra, mastery of Yin Yang Attribute transformation was an absolute prerequisite.
As Hakushi was pondering, the upper laboratory door opened, and footsteps sounded, approaching from afar.
A petite figure stepped slowly down the corridor stairs.
"Back already? That took you long enough."
Seeing it was Ruri, Hakushi teased her.
"You called it."
Ruri said these words.
Hakushi paused for a moment, then propped his chin with his palm, acting as if he was thinking seriously.
"I see. So the Hokage Faction is prepared to trade other benefits to make the Uchiha Clan drop the
matter. But the Uchiha high council rejected your proposal and want to pretend this never happened, is that it?"
As soon as he finished, a kunai shot toward his face.
Hakushi caught the incoming kunai easily between two fingers, hooked the ring with Zy his finger, and spun it playfully.
Leaning slightly against material the lab table behind him, he smirked, "That's a pretty cold reaction. Didn't I say it already? Even if the Uchiha Clan as a whole gains from this, you as an individual won't be satisfied. Politics always relies on compromise to keep the balance; when one side refuses to compromise, that's when the bloodshed begins."
Yet, neither the Uchiha nor Konoha's high command show any intention of going that far.
"Your damn mouth is really prophetic."
"Well, you're a firm believer in might makes right, power brings dominance, not political bargaining. As long as you have power—whether you take things by force or fight for them—you simply can't accept compromise for profit. That's your sides' greatest difference."
Ruri shot Hakushi a mildly disgusted look.
It felt like this guy was stripping her bare with his words, seeing through everything.
"Still, I think the Uchiha high council's response isn't a bad strategy. Don't forget, the Uchiha Clan isn't some minor house. Politics, economics, and military might—they're a trinity, inseparable. And politics itself is always a tangled mess..."
