In the next five to ten years, the Land of Demons will be entering an important period of development. Even if the demon Moryo wishes to break free, it would need to be fought with careful preparation.
"It's impossible, human Sealing Techniques are ineffective against Moryo."
The Mire Witch shook her head and calmly told Hakushi.
Hakushi raised an eyebrow, somewhat unbelieving, and approached the ancient stone door, placing his palm upon it. Sage Art Chakra began to circulate swiftly within him, covering the ancient stone door in the form of a technique.
However, what puzzled Hakushi was that on the ancient stone door there was indeed the Sealing Spell of Mire, overlaid with another layer of Sealing Spell, yet the purple-black thin mist did not diminish despite the dual Sealing Technique.
This meant that the Sealing Technique Hakushi had just performed was completely ineffective against Moryo.
"It's really strange that the Four Symbols Fuinjutsu designed to subdue demons is utterly useless."
Clearly, this Sealing Technique has a powerful restraining effect on creatures like the Zero-tailed, so why does it have no impact on Moryo, which is also a demon?
Hakushi furrowed his brow, pondering the answer to this problem.
"Moryo is not an ordinary demon; it naturally forms as a special demon by blending with all the darkness in human hearts and Chakra. The only way to deal with it is to transform oneself into the opposite 'substance' of Moryo to restrain its actions."
The Mire Witch explained.
"Is it impossible to solve from the root?"
"In theory, it is possible to solve it from the root, and that is by eliminating all human desires. Moryo would then naturally disappear. Otherwise, killing it once would only allow future human desires to intertwine under various circumstances, merging with Chakra to create a new 'Moryo'."
The darkness that resides deep in human hearts is the source upon which Moryo relies for survival.
Hearing the Mire Witch's answer, Hakushi sighed and confirmed a part of his conjecture.
"We Witches do not kill Moryo but choose to seal it because once Moryo is killed, it would reincarnate randomly somewhere in the Ninja Realm. Hunting it down would be rather troublesome, and Moryo's intelligence far exceeds that of ordinary people. If it were to grow in hiding, that would be very troubling."
The Mire Witch continued to describe the approach of the Witches' ruler.
Thus, instead of killing Moryo, sealing and imprisoning it has been deemed the best solution by many generations of Witches.
Otherwise, letting Moryo randomly resurrect somewhere in the Ninja Realm, lurking for hundreds of years, there would be a fear that even the Witches' strength would not threaten it.
"The fate of you Witches is really quite heavy."
"Over time, it becomes like this. In fact, Mr. Hakushi, you also have the potential to become a 'Witch'."
"?"
Hakushi twitched his lips, unsure of how to respond.
"If Mr. Hakushi is willing to abandon human selfishness, you can obtain the power to restrain Moryo. However, this is something I assume is not what Mr. Hakushi wishes to see. Mr. Hakushi, your desires are more than many people's."
Hakushi remained silent, implicitly agreeing with the Mire Witch's perspective.
"Indeed, the more desires one has does not necessarily mean evil. To distinguish all things in the world with justice and evil is narrow-minded. Therefore, even if one day Moryo destroys humanity, the problem surely lies within humanity itself. The root cause of this darkness stems from the countless wars humans have waged over the centuries. Every outbreak of war is when Moryo's power is at its strongest."
"Does Lord Mire dislike the ninjas greatly?"
"Certainly, including the Six Paths Sage who established the Ninja Sect, he is among the least liked by generations of Witches. His blind faith in humanity led to the spread of Chakra, a power mutated from Natural Energy among humans, giving birth to demons like Moryo that can destroy human civilization, and imposed many unnecessary missions on Witches. The same goes for the people of this country, who always impose many unnecessary responsibilities on Witches."
The Mire Witch walked before the ancient stone door, as if narrating to Hakushi, or perhaps pouring her heart out to Moryo on the other side of the door.
"If not for this mission, I could probably be an ordinary girl, enjoying the 'freedom' of happiness."
Yet from behind the stone door came nothing but spine-chilling laughter and ridicule.
"My apologies, Mr. Hakushi, I seem to have complained a little too much."
The Mire Witch showed a remorseful smile.
"It's alright. You're quite correct; humans always impose their will on others, and that includes myself. At least like this, you're more human, aren't you?"
The Mire Witch nodded.
Even a Witch experiences emotions like joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure; it's just that because of the special powers they acquire through training, they usually conceal these skillfully.
Occasionally, they might also vent life's grievances and release the stress and burdens within, for constantly accumulating negative emotions in one's heart might one day erupt and perhaps even transform into another Moryo.
Thinking about this, Hakushi wondered if the Mire Witch often talked to herself jokingly to relieve stress when she was alone here?
"Mr. Hakushi, I feel like you are thinking something rude."
The Mire Witch seemed to have read Hakushi's mind, her eyes fixing on him.
"No, I only deeply admire the dedication of the Witches of the Land of Demons throughout the generations in protecting humanity."
"Protection? Rather than protection, it might be more apt to call it the obsession left behind by the First Witch."
