Chapter 687 - Chapter 108: Offspring and Bargains (3)

Hakushi sighed.

"In that case, why does Teacher Hakushi still want Kakashi to stay in Konoha? Wouldn't it be better to bring him to the Land of Demons to train?"

Lin didn't really understand this point.

"Because of determination. It's not that I don't want to take him away; staying in Konoha is a choice he made himself." Hakushi paused and continued, "If he can't get past this, he will never forgive himself his whole life and won't be able to free himself from the shackles of the past."

"It seems that the incident of Jonin Sakumo's suicide hit him very hard."

"Of course. Watching his father die before his eyes— even I can't comprehend how heavy the impact of that event must have been on Kakashi at the time. It was only then that he became self-destructive. The only thing sustaining him to this day is just that bit of resentment accumulated in his heart."

Lin nodded, not knowing whether she understood or not.

"Indeed, there are too many things in this world that make people regret. Minato-sensei as well, I didn't expect him to pass away suddenly. It's now difficult for me to go to Konoha to pay respects to him and Kushina-senpai."

Lin said with a tone of regret.

"There will be a chance, and it won't be too far off. But, do you not resent me, Lin?"

Hakushi asked in return.

Lin was once Minato's student. Although Minato didn't die by Hakushi's hands this time, fundamentally, there was a connection to him.

"Resentment? That's just a meaningless thing. I have already died once, and it was Teacher Hakushi who gave me a second chance at rebirth. Neither Obito nor I hold any resentment against you. Besides, you only provided the information; the actual action was taken by someone else."

Lin focused on her research as she answered Hakushi's question.

For her, Konoha was just a special part of her memories.

Moreover, from Hakushi's standpoint, it was impossible to show mercy to Konoha.

Since she had left Konoha, expecting Hakushi to show mercy to Konoha was beyond her sense of propriety and would only reflect her own foolishness.

If one couldn't even understand their own position, it would be tough to survive in this cruel world.

After small talk, it was time to get down to business.

Lin held a document and said to Hakushi:

"Teacher Hakushi, it feels like with our current approach, it's hard to make a groundbreaking breakthrough in Tailed Beast research."

Tailed Beast research was an exceedingly important subject for the military in the Land of Demons at the time.

Not just Hakushi and Lin, but other relevant departments' researchers were also focusing on this area of study.

The hope was to more maturely apply the power of the Tailed Beasts.

"Yes, the progress is indeed worrying. Life forms constructed from Chakra may appear simple in structure, but analyzing them is extremely difficult, let alone maturely applying this power."

Hakushi nodded in agreement.

However, he wasn't surprised. If the power of the Tailed Beasts were so easily harnessed, then in previous Ninja Realm wars, it wouldn't have only been the Hidden Cloud side deploying Tailed Beast Weapons.

The history of the Ninja Realm might have been rewritten.

"The key still lies in uncontrollability."

Lin said.

The power of the Tailed Beasts is a double-edged sword, capable of increasing strength but also causing enormous harm to the human body.

If this negative impact could be eliminated, then the utilization rate of the Tailed Beast power would greatly increase.

But this idea was merely wishful thinking, as aside from the Perfect Jinchuriki, no Jinchuriki could tap into the power of the Tailed Beasts without harming themselves; their bodies would inevitably suffer some potential risks of life depletion.

"What does the practical department say?"

"The experimental subjects hosting the Tailed Beast power experience a sense of consciousness blur, and if the hosting time is too long, they lose their emotions, turning into beasts with only desires for destruction and slaughter."

"So it's like that? Looks like we'll have to seek Yagura's help."

Hakushi mentioned this name.

"Yagura? Is it that newly appointed Fourth Mizukage from the Hidden Mist? I remember he is in an alliance relationship with you, Teacher Hakushi."

Lin recalled something and said.

The cooperation between Hakushi and the Fourth Mizukage Karatachi Yagura of the Hidden Mist Village was not a secret to her.

"That's right. Not only that, he is now the Three-tailed Jinchuriki of the Hidden Mist and has already passed the Tailed Beast's trial, becoming the other Perfect Jinchuriki after Eight-tailed Jinchuriki Killer Bee."

Hakushi explained to Lin.

Lin widened her eyes; just becoming a Perfect Jinchuriki was something, but for a Jinchuriki to become Mizukage was utterly inconceivable.

"Don't look at me like that. I only recently learned of his becoming the Three-tailed Jinchuriki and his control over the Three-tailed."

"No, I just find it incredibly unbelievable that someone could become one of the Five Kage as a Jinchuriki. Just thinking about it is astonishing."

Previously, there was never a precedent for a Jinchuriki becoming one of the Five Kage.

Jinchuriki had always been considered symbols of the Ninja Village's military might, but due to their overly powerful and unstable nature, they had long been ostracized and monitored.

For Yagura to become one of the Five Kage, as a Jinchuriki, is groundbreaking, to say the least.

"Rules are meant to be broken; he is not one to play by the rules."

"Even so, it still seems a little crazy. But, even if it's true, would he be willing to share the experience of a Perfect Jinchuriki controlling the Tailed Beast with us?"
