Miyako looked at the man with the peculiar sunglasses and started to smile.
The man named Oyashiro let out a bitter smile.
"After all, back then, I did suffer quite a bit at the hands of you and Brother Sosuke. Thinking it over, it really seems like a fateful bond."
Miyako continued to smile, savoring the taste of the red wine, without speaking.
"Speaking of which, didn't Brother Sosuke come over?"
"The association has been quite busy recently, and he's in the Land of Demons dealing with matters there. Besides, the atmosphere here, to be honest, doesn't really suit a legitimate merchant like me."
Miyako said.
Oyashiro sighed and said, "That's true, but in the Ninja Realm, there are always some peculiar places that can't be seen with worldly eyes. However, just as you said, the merchants here are all shady characters. Drug trafficking, running sex businesses, building casinos, trafficking human organs, smuggling people... every imaginable crime and unimaginable crime is here."
The only thing that doesn't exist is legality.
Lawless merchants and officials together built this lawless land within the Ninja Realm to provide what they see as entertainment.
A legitimate merchant like Miyako has nothing in common with this chaotic environment.
Though they are all merchants, the essence of their trade is entirely different.
"You've become quite eloquent in recent years, Oyashiro."
"Of course, you can't survive here if you keep your hands too clean."
To this, Miyako just smiled without saying anything.
Standing up from the sofa, Miyako walked over to Oyashiro. Through the transparent glass wall, she looked down to see a gigantic gladiator arena below.
The audience was packed, all neatly dressed, yet their eyes showed an intense smile of excitement, a kind of excitement different from usual, the thrill of seeing blood and combat, carrying a violent feeling.
On the stage of the arena, a male and a female ninja were fighting ferociously.
They used Taijutsu, Ninja Techniques, and Illusion Techniques, launching their strongest moves at each other.
The audience cheered them on, and despite the glass wall, the noisy clamor from outside could still be heard.
"The games here still have the same twisted sense of fun. The rules haven't changed, have they?"
Miyako clicked her tongue.
"Yes, using ninjas as playing cards, if your ninja wins over the opponent, you get to take control of their ninja. Here, ninjas are slaves, and the masters are those merchants and officials controlling things behind the scenes."
Oyashiro adjusted the sunglasses on his nose, showing a helpless smile.
"Indeed, nothing's changed."
"But in my opinion, this is no different from the so-called ninja exams of the Five Great Nations. Both are meant to demonstrate ninja fighting prowess and highlight the fact that ninjas are tools."
Oyashiro stated, standing beside Miyako.
Noticing Miyako's somewhat displeased expression, Oyashiro quickly changed the subject, "Of course, the situation in the Land of Demons is somewhat different. In this regard, I really admire the vision of you and Brother Sosuke. Now, the Shion Flower Merchants Association is the number one association in the Ninja Realm, and the Land of Demons also possesses military force to protect the association."
Miyako glanced at Oyashiro and said, "I'm not interested in what's going on here. Just like last time, I want to know if you still have any powerful ninjas, especially those with Kekkeigenkai. If so, I'll pay to buy them and bring them back to the military in the Land of Demons for cultivation."
Hearing Miyako's statement, Oyashiro looked unsurprised.
This place, though filled with all sorts of vice and ugliness, actually has quite remarkable connections and resources within the Ninja Realm.
The wealthy merchants here each have numerous powerful ninjas, including some Kekkeigenkai Ninjas, who compete in the arena. The loser bows before the winner.
Not wanting to stand out in such a place, Oyashiro too would dispatch his subordinates to win ownership over rival ninjas.
The victorious ninjas could be sold for a high price.
He had previously conducted such transactions with Miyako more than once.
The other party, with her enormous financial resources, had bought many ninjas from him, including a few with Kekkeigenkai.
Those people were probably working in the Land of Demons military by now.
"I do have some strong ones, but getting a Kekkeigenkai is not easy; they're not just cabbages on the roadside. Besides, ninjas with Kekkeigenkai are generally not something one would wager with."
Oyashiro furrowed his brows.
"I'll pay triple the price."
Miyako rolled her eyes and said to Oyashiro.
"Uh…"
"Ten times."
Miyako continued to raise the stakes without waiting for Oyashiro to consider.
"Alright, I do indeed have two Kekkeigenkai Ninjas that I won in a wager not long ago."
Oyashiro decisively chose to surrender, knowing this was the highest price Miyako would offer.
"What is their Kekkeigenkai?"
"Corrosion Style and Gale Style. Although their talent isn't great, with careful nurturing, it's not impossible for them to rival a Jonin in the future."
Oyashiro provided this assessment.
"Kekkeigenkai Ninjas, what's important is not just talent."
Miyako remarked.
Oyashiro knowingly nodded in agreement.
For Kekkeigenkai Ninjas, talent is not the most crucial; it's about inheritance.
