"Whoosh," a red beam of light struck the man, sending him flying and slamming heavily against the wall.
It was Professor Snape, his attack was unbelievably swift this time.
Vid was a step slower; his spell shattered the pool, spilling blood everywhere.
A white object flew out of the man's hand, rolling to the ground.
"What is that?"
Madam Pomfrey waved her magic wand, making the object fly over. She glanced at it and involuntarily let out a scream. The spell lost control, and the white object clattered to the floor.
"Merlin—" Madam Pomfrey clutched her chest as if she was about to faint, murmuring in disbelief, "Not even Death Eaters are this cruel."
Vid looked down for a glance.
It was a butterfly bone.
He had seen pictures in the archives but had never seen one in person before.
Professor Snape suddenly said, "Gray, if you think the one we need to save is that person, I think you are overestimating the power of magic."
Vid followed his gaze and saw on the conveyor belt a familiar, indistinct head, but the body was missing.
Even the most skilled magic couldn't bring back someone who was dead and dismembered.
"No, not this person." Vid quickly replied, "Follow me—the girl is over here!"
He led the two professors quickly through the picture book room, running into the first operating room, only to find two people there as well.
A chubby nurse was tidying up various surgical instruments, while another man held a hose, washing away the blood on the floor.
They were startled to see the group burst in and were about to question them when they were immediately struck down by spells.
In the second operating room, Vid finally saw the person they were looking for.
The little girl lay unconscious on the operating table, blood flowing to the floor.
The nurses and doctors surrounding her showed no intention of stopping the bleeding but were carefully extracting a still-beating heart from her chest cavity.
The person nearby was already prepared with a box for transplant organs, identical to the one Vid was holding.
"Bastards!"
Madam Pomfrey let out an angry roar, and her magic wand chopped with explosive magic power.
The people in surgical gowns were all flung away, crashing heavily against the wall and crawling helplessly, only to be hit by the Stunning Spell again.
Professor Snape promptly extended his magic wand, an invisible line catching the heart, allowing it to float steadily above the girl.
Then, he also discovered the girl's kidney inside the box.
"I've never heard of such a thing!" Madam Pomfrey said with a slight tremor in her voice while opening her medicine box, "It's simply... simply... worse than the Devil!"
"The child can still be saved, Bobbi." Snape reassured her, "You focus on saving her, leave the rest to me."
He handed his precious magic potions to Madam Pomfrey, then used the Levioso spell to drag everyone in the room out the door.
As he was leaving, Snape turned to Vid and said, "Come with me."
"Yes, Professor."
Vid responded, following behind, observing the people floating stiffly, their heads banging against the wall and bodies colliding with the iron racks.
Soon, the room fell silent, only occasionally illuminated by the flashes of Madam Pomfrey's magic.
Passing the previous operating room, Vid saw the chaotic footprints and bloodstains on the ground, recalling the boy who couldn't be saved, and sighed.
He waved his magic wand, and under the effect of the Scouring Charm, the messy marks on the floor disappeared.
Subsequently, Vid discarded the box he had been carrying, placing the organs inside together with the boy's head, as well as the bone he picked up from the floor.
Professor Snape found an empty room, knocked those people unconscious, tied them up, and threw them inside. Then the two of them split up to search the area, finding several sleeping, slacking, and report-writing people, all of whom they also controlled.
"What will happen to them?" Vid asked.
"Azkaban will have a place for them."
Professor Snape noticed Vid's expression was somewhat disapproving and added, "Trust me, it's worse than death... and in such a place, they won't last long."
Vid nodded, noticing that Professor Snape had no intention of outright killing these guys, so he naturally wouldn't voice any objections.
He just dragged the bespectacled man out and asked, "Professor, did you bring Veritaserum?"
Snape looked deeply at him and asked, "What do you intend to do?"
"Naturally, to interrogate this guy." Vid said casually, "They must have many accomplices. This person seems to hold a high position and should have a lot of information."
Snape's expression was a bit peculiar. After pausing for a moment, he merely nodded and said, "Leave it to me. You stay here, protect Bobbi and the child."
"Alright." Vid replied.
He didn't trust leaving the follow-up investigation to the Ministry of Magic entirely, but if it was handed over to Professor Snape, there would be no problem.
Vid's straightforwardness left Snape a little taken aback. He glanced at Vid, seemed to want to say something, but finally remained silent, taking the bespectacled man away.
Having gone back and forth, Snape also stepped in the blood water on the ground, leaving a trail of red footprints at the doorway as he exited.
Vid gazed at the footprints, and several images flashed through his mind in a split second—
