The expression of the Little Wizard carried an awe for mysticism.
The tone was just right.
There was a kind of... persuasiveness that made it hard for Lupin to refute.
"Why do you have so many twisted theories..." Lupin rolled his eyes speechlessly, just as he was about to say something more, Lady Yelena's footsteps could be heard outside.
"Have a good talk with Dumbledore about your potion." The sharp-eared werewolf glanced at the door and swallowed back the words he had intended to say, giving a serious reminder.
"No problem."
This time, Ian chose not to play dumb.
"Here are some new clothes for you."
Lady Yelena walked in carrying a small bag, like any mother sending her child off on a trip, seemingly nagging yet incredibly heartwarming.
"Don't fight with your classmates at school."
"Remember to respect your teachers and professors, even if they may not be so likable."
"Add layers when it gets cold, I've also packed a few sweaters for you at the bottom of your suitcase. This winter is said to be colder than last year's."
...
On the way to sending Ian to the orphanage entrance.
Lady Yelena continued to give advice to Ian. She was accompanied by a group of children reluctant to part with Ian, the Little Wizard hugged and said goodbye to almost every child.
"See you next year."
Amid the tearful farewells of the children.
Ian lifted up his suitcase and got on the car.
"Don't worry, Lady Yelena, I will safely deliver him to the boarding teacher at the school." Lupin could drive a car, which was definitely something Ian hadn't known.
As the familiar streets gradually faded away, Ian slowly eased out of his slightly melancholic mood. He looked at Lupin, who was nervously maneuvering the steering wheel as if he needed sixty eyes on his face.
"Do you really have a driver's license?"
He suspected Lupin was driving dangerously.
"We once thought about building a flying car, so my friend and I got Muggle driver's licenses... I just haven't touched these Muggle tools for a long, long time."
Lupin clumsily tried to shift gears and accidentally pushed it into reverse gear, causing the moving car to emit loud clanging sounds.
He quickly stopped the car and restarted it.
"Did the Confundus Charm play a big role in you getting your license?" Ian almost wanted to pull Lupin out and take over himself; if not for fooling his family, he would have chosen the Knight Bus.
"What are you talking about, who would use the Confundus Charm for such a thing." Lupin responded with a guilty tone, and only after studying for a while did he finally succeed in restarting the car and getting back on the road.
After narrowly avoiding crashes a dozen times, making emergency stops over twenty times, and instinctively turning the wheel more than thirty times, the Little Wizard was finally delivered safely and without danger to King's Cross Station by Lupin.
It's one of the oldest railway stations in Europe and now the largest in London, looking quite ancient, with little modern feel to be seen.
"What do you have packed?"
Lupin noticed that when Ian got out of the car, the whole small car seemed to be relieved and shook slightly. He looked somewhat surprised as he watched Ian take two suitcases out of the trunk. When Ian was taking out boxes, the worn-out car didn't shake so much.
"Just some scrap metal... Uh, they're too heavy, my Weight Loss Spell has reached its limit." Ian's somewhat embarrassed explanation didn't dispel the confusion rising in Lupin's mind.
However.
Before he could continue to ask.
The Little Wizard was already dragging two suitcases, quickly heading toward the train station entrance, leaving Lupin to swallow his confusion and restart the car.
Of course.
Without the Little Wizard watching, Lupin secretly cast a spell on the worn-out car, and thus the car began to speed up under his pretended operation without even starting the engine.
Faster than a sports car.
"Here, here, for security check." Perhaps due to a shocking world event earlier this year, even railway stations had stepped up passenger security checks.
Ian didn't worry about this.
The whole train station had already been enchanted by the Ministry of Magic with a Confundus Charm, causing Muggles to automatically ignore anything related to magic, including those responsible for the security checks.
Of course.
Due to some unexpected reasons, Ian also encountered a minor complication.
"Hmm?"
During the security checkpoint weigh-in, the staff noticed Ian's abnormal weight — who knows why such a check was needed, perhaps it was the cheapest project and congressional gentlemen liked doing things for show.
"Kid, you weigh one hundred sixty kilograms!?"
This staff member incredulously sized up the skinny Ian.
His exclamation left Ian rather embarrassed.
"Would you believe me if I said I have high bone density?"
The Little Wizard tried to find an excuse for his abnormal situation. He had been prepared to be questioned, but unexpectedly, after a moment of daze, the staff showed an expression of realization.
"Oh, it's because of high bone density, I was wondering what was going on." The security staff's sudden understanding didn't seem fake, nor like the result of being affected by the Confundus Charm.
