Chapter 105 - Chapter 100: Slifer the Sky Dragon

"Serrated Wilderness Warrior, attack again!" Youyu continued to issue orders.

The Elemental Hero once again faithfully and tirelessly repeated its master's command, slashing Revival Jam into pieces. Then, predictably, the Jam revived itself once more, triggering the effect of "Card of Safe Return."

(Jam: God knows what I've been through today…)

Marik's puppet drew three more cards from the deck—at this point, he was holding a whole handful. A total of nineteen cards; someone who doesn't understand the situation might think this guy was using cheat codes to play cards with the deck.

[Slifer the Sky Dragon, Attack Power 19000]

Yet, caught in this infinite loop and facing a drawing crisis, Marik remained unfazed. Watching his Jam being destroyed again, he leisurely drew a card while chuckling, "Now I understand why even Rishid would lose to you.

It's terrifying, your talent as a duelist. Perhaps you are indeed a match for Muto Yugi and Kaiba Seto.

Thankfully, you weren't chosen by the gods, otherwise you might become a major threat."

Youyu narrowed his eyes slightly.

Nani? Does Marik still have a reversing move up his sleeve?

Then Marik made a series of moves: "Activate set card—Trap Card, Grave Robber! This card can take a card from the opponent's graveyard and use it immediately!" (Anime effect)

Nani!?

Youyu was taken aback—this isn't Jonouchi's card? Could it be that Jonouchi has already fallen victim?

Actually, this card isn't some Rare Card; Marik being a bootleg card dealer having this thing isn't surprising at all. But the problem is...

...Aren't you supposed to be the honorable successor of the Gravekeeper Race? How can you shamelessly wield something like a "Grave Robber"?

Could it be an inside job, wanting to see if the Pharaoh's tomb has any good stuff?

Where's your dignity and honor as a Tomb Guardian?

Trap Effect activated, a sly-looking short Grave Robber appeared on the field, holding a card dug up from Youyu's graveyard.

Quick-Play Magic, Cosmic Cyclone.

"I'll also pay 1000 LP, Cosmic Cyclone's effect activates!" Marik said solemnly, "Remove my own 'Card of Safe Return' from play!"

[Marik, LP 2100 → LP 1100]

A gust of wind lifted Marik's Continuous Magic Card on the spot, spiraled in mid-air a few times, and then vanished from play in a golden glow.

"The effect of Card of Safe Return disappears, so now when Jam revives I don't have to continue drawing cards." Marik became more smug, "Hahaha, what you accomplished is all in vain, instead, you've only boosted my hand cards and subsequently increased the god's attack power!

Slifer is completely invincible now, you're beyond redemption!"

(Sky Dragon: Boss, I beg you don't jinx it, I'm feeling a bit shaky…)

Youyu: "..."

Even this move was countered by Marik, honestly, Youyu was a bit surprised.

In the anime, Yugi clearly used deck-out to kill Marik! Didn't see Marik print a Cyclone on the spot back then?

Why does it suddenly change when I'm up?

At this moment, Sky Dragon roared again, the sound shook the heavens and earth, even the dark clouds in the sky seemed to respond, trembling as they released lightning and thunder.

To be honest, a Sky Dragon with attack power nearing twenty thousand, nearly full resistance, and strong suppression effect is quite intimidating, anyone here should be cowering.

But that's okay.

Thankfully, Youyu knew beforehand the effect of Sky Dragon and Marik's deck strategy, he had more than one plan to deal with the Sky Dragon.

"Set a card and end the turn." Youyu said.

The primary task now is to hold out through the next turn, there's still a chance ahead!

"Now it's my turn again, draw card!" Marik raised his voice to emphasize, "At this moment, Slifer's attack power increases again."

Sky Dragon roared to the sky, its attack power also increased accordingly.

[Slifer the Sky Dragon, Attack Power 19000 → Attack Power 20000]

"Now you're doomed!" Marik sneered, "The only thing that can save you now is that set card in the backfield, but Trap Cards cannot affect gods, there's nothing to protect you from this turn...

...Although I'd like to say that with certainty, this situation isn't absolute. After all, if you use a Trap Card to evade battle damage, there's still hope to somehow survive this turn."

Youyu raised an eyebrow.

Yo, didn't expect Marik's card playing instincts to be decent, unlike ninety percent of people in the plot who directly ignore the backfield?

Guess I'll be a bit more cautious before mocking Marik's card playing skills in the future...

"Firstly, I'll use Continuous Magic Card - Infinite Cards, now the hand card limit in this duel is lifted for both sides. Then activate Magic Card from hand, Anti-Magic Arrows!"

According to the rules of Yu-Gi-Oh, if either player's hand exceeds six cards at the end phase of their turn, they must discard cards until only six remain.

But if Continuous Magic Card "Infinite Cards" exists on the field, the hand card limit in this duel is lifted.
