Chapter 194 - Chapter 96: The Plan Unleashed

"Are there still any D-Class missions available?"

Mokgetsu asked the registering ninja in the mission hall of the Hokage Building as he walked in with his students.

D-Class missions are quite enjoyable for grinding Chakra; you can roughly earn about four hundred fifty Chakra points with ten D-Class missions.

"Hey, Teacher Mokgetsu, aren't you taking any C-Class missions today?" Obito couldn't help but ask.

The last mission involved a life-and-death struggle with enemy ninja from the opposing Ninja Village, and now the next mission was about finding cats, chasing dogs, and picking up trash. Obito felt this difference was a bit too much.

"Did you forget what day tomorrow is? If we take an out-of-village mission now, then Guy will have to celebrate his birthday outside." Mokgetsu tapped Obito on the head and said.

This time he didn't use the same strategy as with Shisui, as using one approach could seem a bit perfunctory. He had already informed the students earlier that Might Guy's birthday was approaching, and everyone should gather to celebrate on that day.

"Oh right, Guy's birthday is coming up. I've been so busy lately that I lost track of time." Obito scratched his head and said with a silly smile.

"No worries, if it weren't for Teacher Mokgetsu's reminder, I would have forgotten too," Might Guy said, stroking his chin.

Recently, they've indeed been living quite fulfillingly. Before the out-of-village missions, it was either training or constant missions, and once outside the village, they had to constantly ensure the client's safety, returning immediately after completing the mission.

Kakashi glanced at Mokgetsu, sensing there might be some things between Mokgetsu, Obito, and Might Guy that he wasn't aware of.

Normally, becoming a student in such a short time doesn't lead to such closeness.

But considering Mokgetsu was a teacher at the Ninja Academy, and Obito and Might Guy were students, they were likely very familiar with each other from the academy days.

"Yes, there are." The registering ninja opened the Mission Scroll for Mokgetsu to choose.

D-Class missions were more or less the same, so Mokgetsu casually picked five and took the students to complete the tasks.

For some reason, today Obito seemed to be exceptionally competitive with Kakashi, trying to outdo each other.

Though they usually couldn't see eye to eye, today their rivalry was even more pronounced.

That competitiveness made the five tasks Mokgetsu accepted completed quickly, as they were competing to finish the tasks faster and more efficiently, pulling Might Guy into their momentum. The three of them were energetically completing tasks.

However, when Mokgetsu saw the reward information, he noticed a problem; the rewards were getting smaller.

The first task settlement was about the same as before, totaling forty-five Chakra points for the three students. But by the third task, it started to decline, totaling only about thirty points for three students, and the fifth task was just thirty points exactly.

Although difficulty usually determines rewards, from past experiences, the variations between D-Class missions aren't supposed to be that significant.

Mokgetsu speculated that perhaps the system judged that D-Class missions were becoming less beneficial for the students' growth, leading to the decrease in rewards.

This isn't baseless guesswork; from training missions and the series of reward distributions, it's clear that the system highly values the growth of the disciples, issuing stage rewards as the disciples' strength increases. Training missions also provide higher rewards for greater improvement during the mission.

With Obito and Might Guy's current strength, D-Class missions were initially a means to familiarize themselves with the task process and hone their cooperation skills, but after dozens of missions, it evidently became meaningless.

To validate his hypothesis, Mokgetsu took five more D-Class missions.

After completing them, Mokgetsu saw the rewards were even lower. The reward for the tenth mission was only about twenty points of Chakra for the three combined.

Mokgetsu added up the rewards for the ten missions, which totaled just over three hundred.

This gain isn't too bad, considering a full class would only yield forty Chakra points, but compared to before, it's certainly less.

"We should minimize taking D-Class missions going forward and focus more on other missions and training," Mokgetsu thought to himself.

Maintaining a three-hundred Chakra point yield continuously would be nice, but at this rate, a few more runs might yield no rewards at all.

After submitting all the tasks, Mokgetsu took the students back home to eat.

Meanwhile, Obito noticed something peculiar. Namikaze Minato, who resembled Mokgetsu somewhat, had come over to Mokgetsu's house again, just like last time, to help before leaving with a food package.

"Teacher Mokgetsu, what's your relationship with that Jonin Minato? Feels like he comes to your house every day to take food," Obito asked curiously.

He felt there was something strange about it; if they were just neighbors, eating together every day seemed odd, let alone Minato taking meals to go.

"A very good friend, and we have a mutual teaching relationship. He teaches me Fuinjutsu, and I teach him cooking," Mokgetsu thought and replied.

"We used to eat together; occasionally, he would cook and I would eat. But now he's very busy, so we rarely eat together."

"Still so busy, yet he takes the trouble to package the meals?" Kakashi found this illogical.

"Of course, it's because Teacher Mokgetsu's cooking is just too delicious. If given the chance, it's worth taking even if there's no time for a sit-down meal," Obito nodded in agreement, thinking Minato's actions made sense.

Kakashi instinctively wanted to retort, but recalling the taste of Mokgetsu's cooking just now, he thought it wasn't all that illogical.

"Tomorrow morning, we'll train as usual. Arrange your own activities for the afternoon and evening." After some casual after-dinner chat, Mokgetsu mentioned the plans for tomorrow.

As the students were preparing to head home, Mokgetsu called Might Guy over separately.

"Guy, wait a moment before you leave."

Might Guy obediently turned back and sat down.

"I'll go back with you. I have something to discuss with your father," Mokgetsu explained with a smile after cleaning up.

"Alright, my father should be home at this time," Might Guy nodded and replied.

Just now he was thinking it might be about training or his birthday, but it turned out to be related to his father.

By now, the sun had completely set, ceding the stage to the moon.

Might Guy's home was located in a remote area; the further they walked towards Guy's home, the fewer human voices there were, and the more there were natural sounds.

"I'm back," Might Guy called out after opening the door.

"Teacher Mokgetsu is also here; he needs to discuss something with you."

"Oh, is Teacher Mokgetsu here? Then I should make some tea," Might Duy quickly came out to check.

"No need for the trouble; I've come today just to discuss something with you, Senior Dai, and I won't stay long," Mokgetsu said with a smile.

Although Mokgetsu declined, Might Guy still volunteered to boil water and make tea.

"Senior Dai, do you wish to become a higher-level ninja?" Mokgetsu asked straightforwardly.

From Mokgetsu's analysis of Might Guy, instead of giving some well-thought-out gift, making Might Guy's father better could touch Guy more deeply.
